¹After these things the word of Jehovah came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram; I am thy shield, thy exceeding great reward.

¹[Ny nanaovan'Andriamanitra fanekena tamin'i Abrama] Rehefa afaka izany, dia tonga tamin'i Abrama ny tenin'i Jehovah tamin'ny fahitana ka nanao hoe: Aza matahotra, ry Abrama; Izaho no ampinganao sy valim-pitia lehibe indrindra ho anao.

²And Abram said, Lord Jehovah, what wilt thou give me? seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus.

²Ary hoy Abrama: Jehovah Tompo ô, inona no homenao ahy? fa izaho mandroso fahanterana nefa tsy manan-janaka, ary ny ho tompon'ny ahy dia ilay Eliezera avy any Damaskosy.

³And Abram said, Lo, to me thou hast given no seed, and behold, a son of my house will be mine heir.

³Ary hoy koa Abrama: Indro, izaho tsy nomenao fara handimby, ka, indro, ny anankiray amin'ny ato an-tranoko no handova ahy.

⁴And behold, the word of Jehovah [came] to him, saying, This shall not be thine heir, but he that will come forth out of thy body shall be thine heir.

⁴Ary, indro, ny tenin'i Jehovah tonga taminy hoe: Tsy handova anao izany; fa izay haterakao, dia izy no handova anao.

⁵And he led him out, and said, Look now toward the heavens, and number the stars, if thou be able to number them. And he said to him, So shall thy seed be!

⁵Dia nitondra azy nivoaka teo ivelan'ny lay Izy ka nanao hoe: Jereo ange ny lanitra, ka isao ny kintana, raha mahisa azy ianao. Dia hoy Izy taminy: Ho tahaka izany ny taranakao.

⁶And he believed Jehovah; and he reckoned it to him [as] righteousness.

⁶Ary nino an'i Jehovah izy; ka dia nisainy ho fahamarinany izany.

⁷And he said to him, I am Jehovah who brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give thee this land to possess it.

⁷Ary hoy Izy taminy: Izaho no Jehovah Izay nitondra anao nivoaka avy tany Oran'ny Kaldeana, mba homeko anao ity tany ity ho lovanao.

⁸And he said, Lord Jehovah, how shall I know that I shall possess it?

⁸Ary hoy Izy: Jehovah Tompo ô, ahoana no hahafantarako fa handova ity aho?

⁹And he said to him, Take me a heifer of three years old, and a she-goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtle-dove, and a young pigeon.

⁹Ary hoy Izy taminy: Itondray ombivavy kely efa telo taona Aho sy osivavy efa telo taona sy ondrilahy efa telo taona ary domohina sy zana-boromailala.

¹⁰And he took all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid the half of each opposite its fellow; but the birds he did not divide.

¹¹And the birds of prey came down on the carcases; and Abram scared them away.

¹²And as the sun was just going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, a horror, a great darkness, fell upon him.

¹³And he said to Abram, Know assuredly that thy seed will be a sojourner in a land [that is] not theirs, and they shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years.

¹³Ary hoy Jehovah tamin'i Abrama: Aoka ho fantatrao marina fa ho vahiny any amin'ny tany izay tsy azy ny taranakao ary hanompo ny olona any; ary hampahoriny efa-jato taona izy.

¹⁴But also that nation which they shall serve I will judge; and afterwards they shall come out with great property.

¹⁴Ary izany firenena izany kosa, izay hotompoiny, dia hotsaraiko; ary rehefa afaka izany, dia hivoaka mitondra harem-bevava izy.

¹⁵And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

¹⁵Nefa ianao kosa ho any amin'ny razanao amin'ny fiadanana; ho tratrantitra indrindra ianao vao hodi-mandry.

¹⁶And [in the] fourth generation they shall come hither again; for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

¹⁶Fa raha mby amin'ny zafiafy, dia hiverina atỳ izy; fa tsy mbola tanteraka ny heloky ny Amorita.

¹⁷And it came to pass when the sun had gone down, and it was dark, that behold, there was a smoking furnace, and a flame of fire which passed between those pieces.

¹⁷Ary rehefa maty ny masoandro, ka maizina dia maizina ny andro, dia, indro, nisy fatana fandoroana mivoa-tsetroka sy fanilo mirehitra, izay nandeha namaky teo anelanelan'ireo zavatra voasasaka ireo.

¹⁸On the same day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates;

¹⁸Tamin'izany andro izany Jehovah nanao fanekena tamin'i Abrama ka nanao hoe: Ny taranakao efa nomeko ity tany ity hatrany amin'ny onin'i Egypta ka hatrany amin'ny ony lehibe, dia ny ony Eofrata,

¹⁹the Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,

¹⁹dia ny Kenita sy ny Kenizita sy ny Kadmonita

²⁰and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaim,

²⁰ary ny Hetita sy ny Perizita sy ny Refaitaary ny Amorita sy ny Kananita sy ny Girgasita ary ny Jebosita.

²¹and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

²¹ary ny Amorita sy ny Kananita sy ny Girgasita ary ny Jebosita.
