¹In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, came the word of Jehovah by the prophet Haggai unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

²Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that Jehovah's house should be built.

²Izao no lazain'i Jehovah, Tompon'ny maro: Ity firenena ity nanao hoe: Tsy mbola tonga ny andro tokony hihaviana hanaovana ny tranon'i Jehovah.

³And the word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

³Dia tonga ny tenin'i Jehovah nentin'i Hagay mpaminany nanao hoe:

⁴Is it time for you that ye should dwell in your wainscoted houses, while this house lieth waste?

⁴Moa andro tokony hitoeran'ny tenanareo ao amin'ny tranonareo misy valin-drihana va izao, kanefa rava ity trano ity?

⁵And now thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.

⁵Koa izao no lazain'i Jehovah, Tompon'ny maro: Hevero ny lalanareo.

⁶Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but are not satisfied; ye drink, but are not filled with drink; ye clothe yourselves, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages for a bag with holes.

⁶Efa namafy be ianareo, nefa kely no taomina: mihinana ianareo, nefa tsy voky; misotro ianareo, nefa tsy afa-po; mitafy ianareo, nefa tsy misy mafana; ary izay mahazo karama dia mahazo karama hatao an-kitapo loaka.

⁷Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.

⁷Izao no lazain'i Jehovah, Tompon'ny maro: Hevero ny lalanareo.

⁸Go up to the mountain and bring wood, and build the house, and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith Jehovah.

⁸Miakara any an-tendrombohitra, ka makà hazo, ary ataovy ny trano, dia hankasitrahako izany, sady hankalazaina Aho, hoy Jehovah.[Na: amin'ny tany havoana]

⁹Ye looked for much, and behold it was little; and when ye brought it home, I blew upon it. Wherefore? saith Jehovah of hosts. Because of my house that lieth waste, whilst ye run every man to his own house.

⁹Nanampo be ianareo, kanjo indro, kely monja; ary nony notaominareo, dia notsofiko. Nahoana? hoy Jehovah, Tompon'ny maro. Satria efa rava ny tranoko, nefa ianareo samy mihazakazaka hanao ny tranonareo avy.

¹⁰Therefore over you the heavens withhold their dew, and the earth withholdeth its fruit.

¹⁰Ary noho izany dia ny aminareo no nitsaharan'ny lanitra tsy hampilatsaka ando sy nitsaharan'ny tany tsy hahavokatra.

¹¹And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon man, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.

¹¹Ary niantso ny fahamainana Aho hamely ny tany sy ny tendrombohitra sy ny vary sy ny ranom-boaloboka sy ny diloilo sy izay vokatry ny tany ary ny olona sy ny biby fiompy mbamin'izay rehetra efa nisasaran'ny tanana.

¹²And Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, hearkened to the voice of Jehovah their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, according as Jehovah their God had sent him, and the people feared before Jehovah.

¹³Then spoke Haggai, Jehovah's messenger, in Jehovah's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith Jehovah.

¹⁴And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked at the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,

¹⁴Dia notairin'i Jehovah ny fanahin'i Zerobabela, zanak'i Sealtiela, governora any Joda, sy ny fanahin'i Josoa, zanak'i Jozadaka mpisoronabe, sy ny fanahin'ny sisa rehetra amin'ny vahoaka; ary dia avy izy ka nandrafitra ny tranon'i Jehovah, Tompon'ny maro, Andriamaniny,tamin'ny andro fahefatra amby roa-polo tamin'ny volana fahenina tamin'ny taona faharoa nanjakan'i Dariosa.
