¹The Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish son is the grief of his mother.

²Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivereth from death.

²Ny harena azo amin'ny tsy marina dia tsy mahasoa na inona na inona; Fa ny fahamarinana no mamonjy amin'ny fahafatesana.

³Jehovah suffereth not the soul of the righteous [man] to famish; but he repelleth the craving of the wicked.

³Tsy avelan'i Jehovah ho mosarena ny fanahin'ny marina; Fa foanany ny fanirian'ny ratsy fanahy.

⁴He cometh to want that dealeth with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

⁴Ho tonga malahelo ny miraviravy tanana amin'ny asany; Fa mampanan-karena ny tanan'ny mazoto.

⁵He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

⁵Izay manangona amin'ny fararano no zanaka hendry; Fa izay sondrian-tory amin'ny taom-pijinjana no zanaka mampahamenatra.

⁶Blessings are upon the head of a righteous [man]; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.

⁶Fitahiana no ho ao amin'ny lohan'ny marina; Fa loza no mandrakotra ny vavan'ny ratsy fanahy.[Na: Fa manaron-doza]

⁷The memory of the righteous [man] shall be blessed; but the name of the wicked shall rot.

⁷Hankasitrahana ny fahatsiarovana ny marina; Fa ho lò ny anaran'ny ratsy fanahy.

⁸The wise in heart receiveth commandments; but a prating fool shall fall.

⁸Izay hendry am-po no handray ny didy; Fa ho lavo ny adala maro vava.

⁹He that walketh in integrity walketh securely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

⁹Izay mandeha tsy misy tsiny no mandeha matoky; Fa izay maniasia amin'ny alehany dia fantatra.

¹⁰He that winketh with the eye causeth grief, and a prating fool shall fall.

¹⁰Izay mami-maso manome alahelo; Fa ho lavo ny adala maro vava.

¹¹The mouth of a righteous [man] is a fountain of life; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.

¹²Hatred stirreth up strifes; but love covereth all transgressions.

¹³In the lips of an intelligent [man] wisdom is found; but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

¹³Amin'ny molotry ny manan-tsaina no ahitam-pahendrena; Fa tsorakazo no ho amin'ny lamosin'ny tsy ampy saina.

¹⁴The wise lay up knowledge; but the mouth of the fool is near destruction.

¹⁴Ny hendry mirakitra fahalalana; Fa ny vavan'ny adala eo akaikin'ny fandringanana.

¹⁵The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

¹⁵Ny haren'ny manan-karena no vohiny mafy; Fa ny tsi-fananan'ny ory no fandringanana azy.

¹⁶The labour of a righteous [man] [tendeth] to life; the revenue of a wicked [man], to sin.

¹⁶Ho fiainana ny asan'ny marina; Fa ho ota ny fitomboan'ny haren'ny ratsy fanahy.

¹⁷Keeping instruction is the path to life; but he that forsaketh reproof goeth astray.

¹⁷Izay mino anatra dia ho tonga eo amin'ny lalan'ny fiainana; Fa mivily izay mandà anatra.

¹⁸He that covereth hatred hath lying lips, and he that sendeth forth a slander is a fool.

¹⁸Izay mitahiry lolompo dia manana molotra mandainga, Ary izay mampiely endrikendrika dia adala.

¹⁹In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; but he that restraineth his lips doeth wisely.

¹⁹Ny teny maro tsy ilaozan'izay ota; Fa izay mahatana ny molony no hendry.

²⁰The tongue of the righteous [man] is [as] choice silver; the heart of the wicked is little worth.

²⁰Volafotsy voafantina ny lelan'ny marina; Fa ny fon'ny ratsy fanahy tsy misy vidiny.

²¹The lips of a righteous [man] feed many; but fools die for want of understanding.

²¹Ny molotry ny marina mamelona ny maro; Fa maty ny adala noho ny tsi-fananany fahalalana.

²²The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow to it.

²²Ny fitahian'i Jehovah no mampanan-karena, Ary tsy azon'ny fisasarana ampiana izany.[Na: Ary tsy ampiany alahelo]

²³It is as sport to a foolish [man] to do wickedness; but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

²⁴The fear of a wicked [man], it shall come upon him; but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

²⁴Ny tahotry ny ratsy fanahy hihatra aminy; Fa ny irin'ny marina no homena azy.

²⁵As a whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no [more]; but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

²⁵Rehefa mipaoka ny tafio-drivotra, dia tsy ao intsony ny ratsy fanahy; Fa ny marina voaorina ho mandrakizay.

²⁶As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

²⁶Toy ny vinaingitra amin'ny nify sy ny setroka amin'ny maso. Dia mba toy izany koa ny malaina amin'izay maniraka azy.

²⁷The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

²⁷Ny fahatahorana an'i Jehovah no mahela velona; Fa ny taonan'ny ratsy fanahy hohafohezina.

²⁸The hope of the righteous is joy; but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

²⁸Ny fanantenan'ny marina dia fifaliana; Fa ny fanantenan'ny ratsy fanahy ho foana.

²⁹The way of Jehovah is strength to the perfect [man], but destruction to the workers of iniquity.

²⁹Ny lalan'i Jehovah dia fiarovana mafy ho an'izay tsy misy tsiny, Fa fandringanana kosa ho an'ny mpanao ratsy.

³⁰The righteous [man] shall never be moved; but the wicked shall not inhabit the land.

³⁰Ny marina tsy hangozohozo mandrakizay; Fa ny ratsy fanahy tsy honina amin'ny tany.

³¹The mouth of a righteous [man] putteth forth wisdom; but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

³¹Eo amin'ny vavan'ny marina no itsimohan'ny fahendrena; Fa ny lela fandainga hofongorana.Ny molotry ny marina mahalala izay ankasitrahana; Fa ny vavan'ny ratsy fanahy dia feno fitaka.

³²The lips of a righteous [man] know what is acceptable; but the mouth of the wicked is frowardness.
