3

1And these are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that Jehovah spoke with Moses on mount Sinai.
1¶ Na ko nga whakatupuranga ano hoki enei a Arona raua ko Mohi i te ra i korero ai a Ihowa ki a Mohi i Maunga Hinai.
2And these are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
2Ko nga ingoa hoki enei o nga tama a Arona: ko Natapa, ko te matamua, ratou ko Apihu, ko Ereatara, ko Itamara.
3These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests, who were consecrated to exercise the priesthood.
3Ko nga ingoa enei o nga tama a Arona, o nga tohunga i whakawahia, i whakatohungatia nei e ia hei tohunga,
4And Nadab and Abihu died before Jehovah when they offered strange fire before Jehovah in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no sons; and Eleazar and Ithamar exercised the priesthood in the presence of Aaron their father.
5And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
5A i korero a Ihowa ki a Mohi, i mea,
6Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him;
6Whakatataia mai te iwi o Riwai, whakaturia hoki ki te aroaro o Arona tohunga, kia mahi aia ratou ki a ia.
7and they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole assembly, before the tent of meeting, to do the service of the tabernacle.
7A ma ratou e tiaki nga mea hei tiakanga mana, hei tiakanga hoki ma te whakaminenga katoa, ki mua i te tapenakara o te whakaminenga, e mahi hoki nga mahi o te tapenakara.
8And they shall keep all the utensils of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.
8Ma ratou ano e tiaki nga mea katoa o te tapenakara o te whakaminenga, me nga mea hei tiakanga ma nga tama a Iharaira, kia mahi ai hoki nga mahi o te tapenakara.
9And thou shalt give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given to him out of the children of Israel.
9A me hoatu e koe nga Riwaiti ki a Arona ratou ko ana tama: e hoatutia katoatia ana ratou ki a ia mo nga tama a Iharaira.
10And Aaron and his sons shalt thou appoint that they may attend to their priest's office; and the stranger that cometh near shall be put to death.
10Me whakarite ano e koe a Arona ratou ko ana tama, a ka u ratou ki ta ratou mahi tohunga: ko te tangata ke e whakatata mai ka whakamatea.
11And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
11I korero ano a Ihowa ki a Mohi, i mea,
12And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of every firstborn that breaketh open the womb among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine;
12Ko ahau nei, nana, kua tango ahau i nga Riwaiti i roto i nga tama a Iharaira hei utu mo nga matamua katoa e oroko puta mai ana i te kopu i roto i nga tama a Iharaira: maku hoki nga Riwaiti;
13for every firstborn is mine. On the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both of man and beast; mine shall they be: I am Jehovah.
13No te mea, naku nga matamua katoa; no te ra ano i patu ai ahau i nga matamua katoa o te whenua o Ihipa taku whakatapunga i nga matamua katoa a Iharaira maku, i a te tangata, i a te kararehe: maku era: ko Ihowa ahau.
14And Jehovah spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,
14¶ I korero ano a Ihowa ki a Mohi, i te koraha o Hinai, i mea,
