¹{A Psalm, a Song, for the Sabbath day.} It is good to give thanks unto Jehovah, and to sing psalms unto thy name, O Most High;

¹¶ He himene, he waiata mo te ra Hapati. He mea pai te whakawhetai ki a Ihowa, te himene atu ki tou ingoa, e te Runga Rawa:

²To declare thy loving-kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness in the nights,

²Te whakakite i tou atawhai i te ata, i tou pono i nga po katoa;

³Upon an instrument of ten strings and upon the lute; upon the Higgaion with the harp.

³I runga i te aho tekau, i te hatere; i te tangi huatau a te hapa.

⁴For thou, Jehovah, hast made me glad through thy work; I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

⁴Nau hoki ahau, e Ihowa, i whakahari ki tau mahi: ka whakamanamana ahau ki nga meatanga a ou ringa.

⁵Jehovah, how great are thy works! Thy thoughts are very deep:

⁵Ano te nui o au mahi, e Ihowa! hohonu rawa ou whakaaro.

⁶A brutish man knoweth not, neither doth a fool understand it.

⁶Ko te tangata poauau, kahore ia e matau; kahore hoki tenei e mohiotia e te kuware.

⁷When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity flourish, it is that they may be destroyed for ever.

⁷¶ Kia pihi ake nga whakaarokore ano he tarutaru, a kia tupu nga kaimahi katoa i te kino; he ngaromanga tena no ratou ake ake;

⁸And thou, Jehovah, art on high for evermore.

⁸Ko koe ia, e Ihowa, kei runga rawa ake ake.

⁹For lo, thine enemies, O Jehovah, for lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

⁹Na, ko ou hoa whawhai, e Ihowa, na, ko ou hoa whawhai, ka ngaro; ka marara katoa nga kaimahi i te kino.

¹⁰But my horn shalt thou exalt like a buffalo's: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

¹⁰Otira ka ara i a koe toku haona, ka pera i to te kau maka: ka whakawahia ahau ki te hinu hou.

¹¹And mine eye shall see [its desire] on mine enemies; mine ears shall hear [it] of the evil-doers that rise up against me.

¹¹Ka kite hoki toku kanohi i taku i hiahia ai ki runga ki oku hoariri, ka rongo oku taringa i taku i hiahia ai o te hunga kino e whakatika ana mai ki ahau.

¹²The righteous shall shoot forth like a palm-tree; he shall grow like a cedar on Lebanon.

¹²Ka rite te tupu o te tangata tika ki to te nikau; ka rite tona nui ki to te hita i Repanona.

¹³Those that are planted in the house of Jehovah shall flourish in the courts of our God:

¹³Ko te hunga i whakatokia ki te whare o Ihowa ka tupu ki nga marae o to tatou Atua.

¹⁴They are still vigorous in old age, they are full of sap and green;

¹⁴Ka whai hua tonu ratou ua hina: ki tonu i te wai, matomato tonu;

¹⁵To shew that Jehovah is upright: [he is] my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

¹⁵Hei whakakite i te tika o Ihowa: ko ia toku kohatu, kahore hoki ona he.
