1Laying aside therefore all malice and all guile and hypocrisies and envyings and all evil speakings,
1ആകയാല്‍ സകലദുഷ്ടതയും എല്ലാ ചതിവും വ്യാജഭാവവും അസൂയയും എല്ലാനുണയും നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു
2as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,
2ഇപ്പോള്‍ ജനിച്ച ശിശുക്കളെപ്പോലെ രക്ഷെക്കായി വളരുവാന്‍ വചനം എന്ന മായമില്ലാത്ത പാല്‍ കുടിപ്പാന്‍
3if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord [is] good.
3വാഞ്ഛിപ്പിന്‍ . കര്‍ത്താവു ദയാലു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ ആസ്വദിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.
4To whom coming, a living stone, cast away indeed as worthless by men, but with God chosen, precious,
4മനുഷ്യര്‍ തള്ളിയതെങ്കിലും ദൈവസന്നിധിയില്‍ ശ്രേഷ്ഠവും മാന്യവുമായ ജീവനുള്ള കല്ലായ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നിട്ടു
5yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
5നിങ്ങളും ജീവനുള്ള കല്ലുകള്‍ എന്നപോലെ ആത്മികഗൃഹമായി യേശുക്രിസ്തുമുഖാന്തരം ദൈവത്തിന്നു പ്രസാദമുള്ള ആത്മികയാഗം കഴിപ്പാന്തക്ക വിശുദ്ധപുരോഹിതവര്‍ഗ്ഗമാകേണ്ടതിന്നു പണിയപ്പെടുന്നു.
6Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.
6“ഞാന്‍ ശ്രേഷ്ഠവും മാന്യവുമായോരു മൂലക്കല്ലു സീയോനില്‍ ഇടുന്നു; അവനില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്‍ ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകയില്ല” എന്നു തിരുവെഴുത്തില്‍ കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ.
7To you therefore who believe [is] the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of [the] corner,
7വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ആ മാന്യതയുണ്ടു; വിശ്വസിക്കാത്തവര്‍ക്കോ “വീടു പണിയുന്നവര്‍ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞ കല്ലു തന്നേ മൂലക്കല്ലും ഇടര്‍ച്ചക്കല്ലും തടങ്ങല്‍ പാറയുമായിത്തീര്‍ന്നു.”
8and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; [who] stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.
8അവര്‍ വചനം അനുസരിക്കായ്കയാല്‍ ഇടറിപ്പോകുന്നു; അതിന്നു അവരെ വെച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു.
9But *ye* [are] a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;
9നിങ്ങളോ അന്ധകാരത്തില്‍നിന്നു തന്റെ അത്ഭുത പ്രകാശത്തിലേക്കു നിങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചവന്റെ സല്‍ഗുണങ്ങളെ ഘോഷിപ്പാന്തക്കവണ്ണം തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒരു ജാതിയും രാജകീയപുരോഹിതവര്‍ഗ്ഗവും വിശുദ്ധവംശവും സ്വന്തജനവും ആകുന്നു.
10who once [were] not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.
10മുമ്പെ നിങ്ങള്‍ ജനമല്ലാത്തവര്‍; ഇപ്പോഴോ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ജനം; കരുണ ലഭിക്കാത്തവര്‍; ഇപ്പോഴോ കരുണ ലഭിച്ചവര്‍ തന്നേ.
11Beloved, I exhort [you], as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
11പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, പ്രവാസികളും പരദേശികളുമായ നിങ്ങളെ ആത്മാവിനോടു പോരാടുന്ന ജഡമോഹങ്ങളെ വിട്ടകന്നു ജാതികള്‍ നിങ്ങളെ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്‍ എന്നു ദുഷിക്കുന്തോറും
12having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that [as to that] in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through [your] good works, [themselves] witnessing [them], glorify God in [the] day of visitation.
12നിങ്ങളുടെ നല്ല പ്രവൃത്തികളെ കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു സന്ദര്‍ശനദിവസത്തില്‍ ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ നിങ്ങളുടെ നടപ്പു നന്നായിരിക്കേണം എന്നു ഞാന്‍ പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
13Be in subjection [therefore] to every human institution for the Lord's sake; whether to [the] king as supreme,
13സകല മാനുഷനിയമത്തിന്നും കര്‍ത്താവിന്‍ നിമിത്തം കീഴടങ്ങുവിന്‍ .
14or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.
14ശ്രേഷ്ഠാധികാരി എന്നുവെച്ചു രാജാവിന്നും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരുടെ ദണ്ഡനത്തിന്നും സല്‍പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരുടെ മാനത്തിന്നുമായി അവനാല്‍ അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവര്‍ എന്നുവെച്ചു നാടുവാഴികള്‍ക്കും കീഴടങ്ങുവിന്‍ .
15Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
15നിങ്ങള്‍ നന്മ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടു ബുദ്ധിയില്ലാത്ത മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഭോഷത്വം മിണ്ടാതാക്കേണം എന്നുള്ളതു ദൈവേഷ്ടം ആകുന്നു.
16as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.
16സ്വതന്ത്രരായും സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ദുഷ്ടതെക്കു മറയാക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായും നടപ്പിന്‍ .
17Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.
17എല്ലാവരെയും ബഹുമാനിപ്പിന്‍ ; സഹോദരവര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തെ സ്നേഹിപ്പിന്‍ ; ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുവിന്‍ ; രാജാവിനെ ബഹുമാനിപ്പിന്‍ .
18Servants, [be] subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.
18വേലക്കാരേ, പൂര്‍ണ്ണഭയത്തോടെ യജമാനന്മാര്‍ക്കും, നല്ലവര്‍ക്കും ശാന്തന്മാര്‍ക്കും മാത്രമല്ല, മൂര്‍ഖന്മാര്‍ക്കും കൂടെ കീഴടങ്ങിയിരിപ്പിന്‍ .
19For this [is] acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.
19ഒരുത്തന്‍ ദൈവത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള മനോബോധം നിമിത്തം അന്യായമായി കഷ്ടവും ദുഃഖവും സഹിച്ചാല്‍ അതു പ്രസാദം ആകുന്നു.
20For what glory [is it], if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear [it]? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear [it], this is acceptable with God.
20നിങ്ങള്‍ കുറ്റം ചെയ്തിട്ടു അടികൊള്ളുന്നതു സഹിച്ചാല്‍ എന്തു യശസ്സുള്ളു? അല്ല, നന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടു കഷ്ടം സഹിച്ചാല്‍ അതു ദൈവത്തിന്നു പ്രസാദം.
21For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
21അതിന്നായിട്ടല്ലോ നിങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു. ക്രിസ്തുവും നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു വേണ്ടി കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിച്ചു, നിങ്ങള്‍ അവന്റെ കാല്‍ച്ചുവടു പിന്‍ തുടരുവാന്‍ ഒരു മാതൃക വെച്ചേച്ചു പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.
22who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;
22അവന്‍ പാപം ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല; അവന്റെ വായില്‍ വഞ്ചന ഒന്നും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.
23who, [when] reviled, reviled not again; [when] suffering, threatened not; but gave [himself] over into the hands of him who judges righteously;
23തന്നെ ശകാരിച്ചിട്ടു പകരം ശകാരിക്കാതെയും കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിച്ചിട്ടു ഭീഷണം പറയാതെയും ന്യായമായി വിധിക്കുന്നവങ്കല്‍ കാര്‍യ്യം ഭരമേല്പിക്കയത്രേ ചെയ്തതു.
24who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.
24നാം പാപം സംബന്ധിച്ചു മരിച്ചു നീതിക്കു ജീവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്‍ തന്റെ ശരീരത്തില്‍ നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു ക്രൂശിന്മേല്‍ കയറി; അവന്റെ അടിപ്പിണരാല്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു സൌഖ്യം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
25For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
25നിങ്ങള്‍ തെറ്റി ഉഴലുന്ന ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ ആയിരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോഴോ നിങ്ങളുടെ ആത്മാക്കളുടെ ഇടയനും അദ്ധ്യക്ഷനുമായവങ്കലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
