1Thou therefore, my child, be strong in the grace which [is] in Christ Jesus.
1എന്റെ മകനേ, ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള കൃപയാല്‍ ശക്തിപ്പെടുക.
2And the things thou hast heard of me in the presence of many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men, such as shall be competent to instruct others also.
2നീ പല സാക്ഷികളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ എന്നോടു കേട്ടതെല്ലാം മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ഉപദേശിപ്പാന്‍ സമര്‍ത്ഥരായ വിശ്വസ്ഥമനുഷ്യരെ ഭരമേല്പിക്ക.
3Take thy share in suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
3ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിന്റെ നല്ല ഭടനായി നീയും എന്നോടുകൂടെ കഷ്ടം സഹിക്ക.
4No one going as a soldier entangles himself with the affairs of life, that he may please him who has enlisted him as a soldier.
4പട ചേര്‍ത്തവനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യാതൊരു പടയാളിയും ജീവനകാര്യങ്ങളില്‍ ഇടപെടാതിരിക്കുന്നു.
5And if also any one contend [in the games], he is not crowned unless he contend lawfully.
5ഒരുത്തന്‍ മല്ലുകെട്ടിയാലും ചട്ടപ്രകാരം പൊരായ്കില്‍ കിരീടം പ്രാപിക്കയില്ല.
6The husbandman must labour before partaking of the fruits.
6അദ്ധ്വാനിക്കുന്ന കൃഷിക്കാരന്‍ ആകുന്നു ആദ്യം ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടതു.
7Think of what I say, for the Lord will give thee understanding in all things.
7ഞാന്‍ പറയുന്നതു ചിന്തിച്ചുകൊള്‍ക. കര്‍ത്താവു സകലത്തിലും നിനക്കു ബുദ്ധി നലകുമല്ലോ;
8Remember Jesus Christ raised from among [the] dead, of [the] seed of David, according to my glad tidings,
8ദാവീദിന്റെ സന്തതിയായി ജനിച്ചു മരിച്ചിട്ടു ഉയിര്‍ത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കുന്ന യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെ ഔര്‍ത്തുകൊള്‍ക.
9in which I suffer even unto bonds as an evil-doer: but the word of God is not bound.
9അതു ആകുന്നു എന്റെ സുവിശേഷം. അതു അറിയിക്കുന്നതില്‍ ഞാന്‍ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരന്‍ എന്നപോലെ ചങ്ങലധരിച്ചു കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവവചനത്തിന്നോ ബന്ധനം ഇല്ല.
10For this cause I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that *they* also may obtain the salvation which [is] in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
10അതുകൊണ്ടു ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള രക്ഷ നിത്യതേജസ്സോടുകൂടെ വൃതന്മാര്‍ക്കും കിട്ടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന്‍ അവര്‍ക്കായി സകലവും സഹിക്കുന്നു.
11The word [is] faithful; for if we have died together with [him], we shall also live together;
11നാം അവനോടുകൂടെ മരിച്ചു എങ്കില്‍ കൂടെ ജീവിക്കും; സഹിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്‍ കൂടെ വാഴും;
12if we endure, we shall also reign together; if we deny, *he* also will deny us;
12നാം തള്ളിപ്പറയും എങ്കില്‍ അവന്‍ നമ്മെയും തള്ളിപ്പറയും.
13if we are unfaithful, *he* abides faithful, for he cannot deny himself.
13നാം അവിശ്വസ്തരായിത്തീര്‍ന്നാലും അവന്‍ വിശ്വസ്തനായി പാര്‍ക്കുംന്നു; തന്റെ സ്വഭാവം ത്യജിപ്പാന്‍ അവന്നു കഴികയില്ലല്ലോ; ഈ വചനം വിശ്വാസയോഗ്യമാകുന്നു.
14Of these things put in remembrance, testifying earnestly before the Lord not to have disputes of words, profitable for nothing, to the subversion of the hearers.
14കേള്‍ക്കുന്നവരെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നതിനാല്ലാതെ ഒന്നിന്നും കൊള്ളാത്ത വാഗ്വാദം ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണമെന്നു കര്‍ത്താവിനെ സാക്ഷിയാക്കി അവരെ ഔര്‍മ്മപ്പെടുത്തുക.
15Strive diligently to present thyself approved to God, a workman that has not to be ashamed, cutting in a straight line the word of truth.
15സത്യവചനത്തെ യഥാര്‍ത്ഥമായി പ്രസംഗിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ലജ്ജിപ്പാന്‍ സംഗതിയില്ലാത്ത വേലക്കാരനായി ദൈവത്തിന്നു കൊള്ളാകുന്നവനായി നില്പാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്ക.
16But profane, vain babblings shun, for they will advance to greater impiety,
16ഭക്തിവിരുദ്ധമായ വൃഥാലാപങ്ങളെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്ക; ആ വകക്കാര്‍ക്കും അഭക്തി അധികം മുതിര്‍ന്നുവരും;
17and their word will spread as a gangrene; of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
17അവരുടെ വാക്കു അര്‍ബ്ബുദവ്യാധിപോലെ തിന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.
18[men] who as to the truth have gone astray, saying that the resurrection has taken place already; and overthrow the faith of some.
18ഹുമനയോസും ഫിലേത്തൊസും അവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ ഉള്ളവരാകുന്നു; അവര്‍ സത്യം വിട്ടു തെറ്റിപുനരുത്ഥാനം കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ചിലരുടെ വിശ്വാസം മറിച്ചു കളയുന്നു.
19Yet the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, [The] Lord knows those that are his; and, Let every one who names the name of [the] Lord withdraw from iniquity.
19എങ്കിലും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥിരമായ അടിസ്ഥാനം നിലനിലക്കുന്നു; കര്‍ത്താവു തനിക്കുള്ളവരെ അറിയുന്നു എന്നും കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ നാമം ഉച്ചരിക്കുന്നവന്‍ എല്ലാം അനീതി വിട്ടകന്നുകൊള്ളട്ടെ എന്നും ആകുന്നു അതിന്റെ മുദ്ര.
20But in a great house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also wooden and earthen; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
20എന്നാല്‍ ഒരു വലിയ വീട്ടില്‍ പൊന്നും വെള്ളിയും കൊണ്ടുള്ള സാമാനങ്ങള്‍ മാത്രമല്ല, മരവും മണ്ണുംകൊണ്ടുള്ളവയും ഉണ്ടു; ചിലതു മാന്യകാര്യത്തിന്നും ചിലതു ഹീനകാര്യത്തിന്നും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.
21If therefore one shall have purified himself from these, [in separating himself from them], he shall be a vessel to honour, sanctified, serviceable to the Master, prepared for every good work.
21ഇവയെ വിട്ടകന്നു തന്നെത്താന്‍ വെടിപ്പാക്കുന്നവന്‍ വിശുദ്ധവും ഉടമസ്ഥന്നു ഉപയോഗവുമായി നല്ല വേലെക്കു ഒക്കെയും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന മാന പാത്രം ആയിരിക്കും.
22But youthful lusts flee, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those that call upon the Lord out of a pure heart.
22യൌവനമോഹങ്ങളെ വിട്ടോടി നീതിയും വിശ്വാസവും സ്നേഹവും ശുദ്ധഹൃദയത്തോടെ കര്‍ത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരോടും സമാധാനവും ആചരിക്ക.
23But foolish and senseless questionings avoid, knowing that they beget contentions.
23ബുദ്ധിയില്ലാത്ത മൌഢ്യതര്‍ക്കം ശണ്ഠ ജനിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നറിഞ്ഞു അതു ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്ക.
24And a bondman of [the] Lord ought not to contend, but be gentle towards all; apt to teach; forbearing;
24കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദാസന്‍ ശണ്ഠ ഇടാതെ എല്ലാവരോടും ശാന്തനും ഉപദേശിപ്പാന്‍ സമര്‍ത്ഥനും ദോഷം സഹിക്കുന്നവനുമായി അത്രേ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതു.
25in meekness setting right those who oppose, if God perhaps may sometime give them repentance to acknowledgment of [the] truth,
25വിരോധികള്‍ക്കു ദൈവം സത്യത്തിന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നായി മാനസാന്തരം നലകുമോ എന്നും
26and that they may awake up out of the snare of the devil, [who are] taken by him, for *his* will.
26പിശാചിനാല്‍ പിടിപെട്ടു കുടുങ്ങിയവരാകയാല്‍ അവര്‍ സുബോധം പ്രാപിച്ചു അവന്റെ കണിയില്‍ നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞു ദൈവേഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുമോ എന്നും വെച്ചു അവരെ സൌമ്യതയോടെ പഠിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതും ആകുന്നു.
