1And Jethro the priest of Midian, Moses' father-in-law, heard of all that God had done to Moses, and to Israel his people; that Jehovah had brought Israel out of Egypt.
1ദൈവം മോശെക്കും തന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്നും വേണ്ടി ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിനെ മിസ്രയീമില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചതും മിദ്യാനിലെ പുരോഹിതനായി മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പനായ യിത്രോ കേട്ടു.
2And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her back,
2അപ്പോള് മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പനായ യിത്രോ മോശെ മടക്കി അയച്ചിരുന്ന അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ സിപ്പോറയെയും അവളുടെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
3and her two sons, of whom the name of the one was Gershom -- for he said, I have been a sojourner in a foreign land,
3ഞാന് അന്യദേശത്തു പരദേശിയായി എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതു കൊണ്ടു അവരില് ഒരുത്തന്നു ഗേര്ഷോം എന്നു പേര്.
4-- and the name of the other, Eliezer -- For the God of my father has been my help, and has delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh.
4എന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ ദൈവം എനിക്കു തുണയായി എന്നെ ഫറവോന്റെ വാളിങ്കല് നിന്നു രക്ഷിച്ചു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു മററവന്നു എലീയേസെര് എന്നു പേര്.
5And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, came to Moses with his sons and his wife into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mountain of God.
5എന്നാല് മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പനായ യിത്രോ അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരോടും അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടുംകൂടെ, മോശെ പാളയമിറങ്ങിയിരുന്ന മരുഭൂമിയില് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പര്വ്വതത്തിങ്കല് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.
6And he sent word to Moses: I, thy father-in-law Jethro, am come to thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her.
6നിന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പന് യിത്രോ എന്ന ഞാനും നിന്റെ ഭാര്യയും രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരും നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവന് മോശെയോടു പറയിച്ചു.
7And Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other [after] their welfare, and went into the tent.
7മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പനെ എതിരേല്പാന് ചെന്നു വണങ്ങി അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു; അവര് തമ്മില് കുശലപ്രശ്നം ചെയ്തു കൂടാരത്തില് വന്നു.
8And Moses told his father-in-law all that Jehovah had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake; all the trouble that had befallen them on the way, and [how] Jehovah had delivered them.
8മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പനോടു യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്നുവേണ്ടി ഫറവോനോടും മിസ്രയീമ്യരോടും ചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും വഴിയില് തങ്ങള്ക്കു നേരിട്ട പ്രയാസം ഒക്കെയും യഹോവ തങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിച്ചപ്രകാരവും വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.
9And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness that Jehovah had done to Israel; that he had delivered them out of the hand of the Egyptians.
9യഹോവ മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനെ വിടുവിച്ചതിനാല് അവര്ക്കും ചെയ്ത എല്ലാ നന്മനിമിത്തവും യിത്രോ സന്തോഷിച്ചു.
10And Jethro said, Blessed be Jehovah, who has delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh; who has delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.
10യിത്രോ പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും ഫറവോന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും രക്ഷിച്ചു മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ കൈക്കീഴില്നിന്നു ജനത്തെ വിടുവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവ സ്തുതിക്കപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ.
11Now I know that Jehovah is greater than all gods; for in the thing in which they acted haughtily [he was] above them.
11യഹോവ സകലദേവന്മാരിലും വലിയവന് എന്നു ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് അറിയുന്നു. അതേ, ഇവരോടു അവര് അഹങ്കരിച്ച കാര്യത്തില് തന്നേ.
12And Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took a burnt-offering and sacrifices for God; and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father-in-law in the presence of God.
12മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പനായ യിത്രോ ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഹോമവും ഹനനയാഗവും കഴിച്ചു; അഹരോനും യിസ്രായേല് മൂപ്പന്മാരെല്ലാവരും വന്നു മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പനോടുകൂടെ ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.
13And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people; and the people stood by Moses from the morning to the evening.
13പിറ്റെന്നാള് മോശെ ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായം വിധിപ്പാന് ഇരുന്നു; ജനം രാവിലെ തുടങ്ങി വൈകുന്നേരംവരെ മോശെയുടെ ചുറ്റും നിന്നു.
14And Moses' father-in-law saw all that he did with the people, and said, What is this thing which thou art doing with the people? why dost thou sit alone, and all the people are standing by thee from morning to evening?
14അവന് ജനത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്യുന്നതൊക്കെയും മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പന് കണ്ടപ്പോള്നീ ജനത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ കാര്യം എന്തു? നീ ഏകനായി വിസ്തരിപ്പാന് ഇരിക്കയും ജനം ഒക്കെയും രാവിലേ തുടങ്ങി വൈകുന്നേരംവരെ നിന്റെ ചുറ്റും നില്ക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചു.
15And Moses said to his father-in-law, Because the people come to me to enquire of God.
15മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പനോടുദൈവത്തോടു ചോദിപ്പാന് ജനം എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുന്നു.
16When they have a matter, they come to me, and I judge between one and another; and I make known [to them] the statutes of God, and his laws.
16അവര്ക്കും ഒരു കാര്യം ഉണ്ടാകുമ്പോള് അവര് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരും. അവര്ക്കും തമ്മിലുള്ള കാര്യം ഞാന് കേട്ടു വിധിക്കയും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കല്പനകളും പ്രമാണങ്ങളും അവരെ അറിയിക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
17And Moses' father-in-law said to him, The thing that thou art doing is not good.
17അതിന്നു മോശെയുടെ അമ്മായപ്പന് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു
18Thou wilt be quite exhausted, both thou and this people that is with thee; for the thing is too heavy for thee: thou canst not perform it alone.
18നീ ചെയ്യുന്ന കാര്യം നന്നല്ല; നീയും നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള ഈ ജനവും ക്ഷീണിച്ചുപോകും; ഈ കാര്യം നിനക്കു അതിഭാരമാകുന്നു; ഏകനായി അതു നിവര്ത്തിപ്പാന് നിനക്കു കഴിയുന്നതല്ല.
19Hearken now to my voice: I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee. Be thou for the people with God, and bring the matters before God;
19ആകയാല് എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്ക; ഞാന് ഒരാലോചന പറഞ്ഞുതരാം. ദൈവം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും; നീ ജനത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് ഇരിക്ക; നീ കാര്യങ്ങളെ ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് കൊണ്ടുചെല്ലുക.
20and teach them the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they must walk, and the work that they must do.
20അവര്ക്കും കല്പനകളും പ്രമാണങ്ങളും ഉപദേശിക്കയും നടക്കേണ്ടുന്ന വഴിയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തിയും അവരെ അറിയിക്കയും ചെയ്ക.
21But do thou provide among all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place [them] over them, chiefs of thousands, chiefs of hundreds, chiefs of fifties, and chiefs of tens,
21അതല്ലാതെ, ദൈവഭക്തന്മാരും സത്യവാന്മാരും ദുരാദായം വെറുക്കുന്നവരുമായ പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാരെ സകലജനത്തില്നിന്നും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു അവരെ ആയിരംപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും നൂറുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും അമ്പതുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും പത്തുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും നിയമിക്ക.
22that they may judge the people at all times; and it shall be [that] they shall bring to thee every great matter, and that they shall judge every small matter, and they shall lighten [the task] on thee, and they shall bear [it] with thee.
22അവര് എല്ലാസമയത്തും ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായം വിധിക്കട്ടെ; വലിയ കാര്യം ഒക്കെയും അവര് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരട്ടെ; ചെറിയ കാര്യം ഒക്കെയും അവര് തന്നേ തീര്ക്കട്ടെ; ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ വഹിക്കുന്നതിനാല് നിനക്കു ഭാരം കുറയും.
23If thou do this thing, and God command thee [so], thou wilt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.
23നീ ഈ കാര്യം ചെയ്കയും ദൈവം അതു അനുവദിക്കയും ചെയ്താല് നിനക്കു നിന്നുപൊറുക്കാം. ഈ ജനത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും സമാധാനത്തോടെ തങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോകയുമാം.
24And Moses hearkened to the voice of his father-in-law, and did all that he had said.
24മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു, അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തു.
25And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, chiefs of thousands, chiefs of hundreds, chiefs of fifties, and chiefs of tens.
25മോശെ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നും പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു അവരെ ആയിരംപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും നൂറുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും അമ്പതുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും പത്തുപേര്ക്കും അധിപതിമാരായും ജനത്തിന്നു തലവന്മാരാക്കി.
26And they judged the people at all times: the hard matters they brought to Moses, but every small matter they judged.
26അവര് എല്ലാസമയത്തും ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായം വിധിച്ചു വന്നു; വിഷമമുള്ള കാര്യം അവര് മോശെയുടെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരും; ചെറിയ കാര്യം ഒക്കെയും അവര് തന്നേ തീര്ക്കും.
27And Moses sent away his father-in-law, and he departed into his land.
27അതിന്റെ ശേഷം മോശെ തന്റെ അമ്മായപ്പനെ യാത്ര അയച്ചു; അവന് സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
