¹But it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census should be made of all the habitable world.

¹ထိုအခါ တနိုင်ငံလုံးကို စာရင်းယူစေခြင်းငှါ ကဲသာဘုရင်ဩဂုတ္တုသည် အမိန့်တော်ရှိ၏။

²The census itself first took place when Cyrenius had the government of Syria.

²ကုရေနိသည် ရှုရိပြည်၌မြို့ဝန်ဖြစ်စဉ်တွင်၊ ဤပဌမစာရင်းယူခြင်း ဖြစ်သတည်း။

³And all went to be inscribed in the census roll, each to his own city:

³လူအပေါင်းတို့သည် စာရင်းဝင်ခြင်းငှါ အသီးအသီး မိမိတို့မြို့ရွာသို့ သွားကြ၏။

⁴and Joseph also went up from Galilee out of the city Nazareth to Judaea, to David's city, the which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,

⁴ယောသပ်သည်လည်း ဒါဝိဒ်အမျိုးအနွယ်ဖြစ်၍၊ ထိမ်းမြားဆောင်နှင်းသောမယားမာရိနှင့်အတူ စာရင်း ဝင်ခြင်းငှါ၊ ဂါလိလဲပြည် နာဇရက်မြို့မှ ယုဒပြည်တွင် ဗက်လင်အမည်ရှိသော ဒါဝိဒ်၏မြို့သို့သွား၏။ ထိုအခါ မာရိသည် ပဋိသန္ဓေအရင့်အမာရှိ၏။

⁵to be inscribed in the census roll with Mary who was betrothed to him [as his] wife, she being great with child.

⁶ဗက်လင်မြို့၌ရှိနေစဉ်၊ ဘွားအံ့သော နေ့လစေ့လျှင်၊

⁶And it came to pass, while they were there, the days of her giving birth [to her child] were fulfilled,

⁷သားဦးကိုဘွားမြင်၍ အဝတ်နှင့်ပတ်ရစ်ပြီးမှ၊ ဧည့်သည်တည်းရာစရပ်၌သူတို့နေစရာမရှိသောကြောင့်၊ သူငယ်ကို နွားစာခွက်၌သိပ်ထားလေ၏။

⁷and she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him up in swaddling-clothes and laid him in the manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

⁸ထိုပြည်မှာ သိုးထိန်းတို့သည် ညဉ့်အခါ တောအရပ်၌ တည်းခိုလျက်၊ မိမိသိုးစုကို စောင့်နေကြသည် ဖြစ်၍၊

⁸And there were shepherds in that country abiding without, and keeping watch by night over their flock.

⁹ထာဝရဘုရား၏ ကောင်းကင်တမန်သည် သူတို့အနားမှာပေါ်လာ၍၊ ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်၌ ထာဝရဘုရား၏ ဘုန်းတော်ထွန်းတောက်သဖြင့်၊ သူတို့သည် အလွန်ကြောက်ရွံ့ခြင်းသို့ရောက်ကြ၏။

⁹And lo, an angel of [the] Lord was there by them, and [the] glory of [the] Lord shone around them, and they feared [with] great fear.

¹⁰ကောင်းကင်တမန်ကလည်း၊ ကြောက်ရွံ့ခြင်းမရှိကြနှင့်။ လူအပေါင်းတို့သည် အလွန်ဝမ်းမြောက် ဝမ်း သာစရာသိတင်းကို ငါသည်သင်တို့အား ကြားပြောရ၏။

¹⁰And the angel said to them, Fear not, for behold, I announce to you glad tidings of great joy, which shall be to all the people;

¹¹ယနေ့တွင် ဒါဝိဒ်မြို့၌ သခင်ခရစ်တော်တည်းဟူသော ကယ်တင်သောအရှင်သည် သင်တို့အဘို့အလို ငှါ ဘွားမြင်ခြင်းကိုခံတော်မူပြီ။

¹¹for to-day a Saviour has been born to you in David's city, who is Christ [the] Lord.

¹²သင်တို့သည် အဘယ်နိမိတ်ဖြင့် သိရမည်နည်းဟူမူကား၊ သူငယ်သည်အဝတ်နှင့် ပတ်ရစ်၍ နွားစာ ခွက်၌ သိပ်ထားလျက်ရှိသည်ကို တွေ့ကြလိမ့်မည်ဟု ဆိုပြီးလျှင်၊

¹²And this is the sign to you: ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling-clothes, and lying in a manger.

¹³ထိုကောင်းကင်တမန်နှင့်အတူ ကောင်းကင် ဗိုလ်ခြေအများတို့သည် ချက်ခြင်းထင်ရှား၍၊

¹³And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,

¹⁴ကောင်းကင်ဘဝဂ်ဝယ် ဘုရားသခင်သည် ဘုန်းကြီးတော်မူစေသတည်း။ မြေကြီးပေါ်၌ ငြိမ်သက်ခြင်း ရှိစေသတည်း။ လူတို့အား မေတ္တာကရုဏာရှိစေသတည်းဟုဘုရားသခင်ကို ချီးမွမ်း၍မြွက်ဆိုကြ၏။

¹⁴Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good pleasure in men.

¹⁵ကောင်းကင်တမန်တို့သည် ကောင်းကင်ဘုံသို့ ပြန်ကြပြီးမှ သိုးထိန်းတို့က၊ ငါတို့သည် ဗက်လင်မြို့သို့ သွားကြကုန်အံ့။ ထာဝရဘုရားသည် ဘော်ပြတော်မူသော ဤအမှုအရာကို ကြည့်ကြကုန်အံ့ဟု အချင်းချင်း ပြောဆိုပြီးလျှင်၊

¹⁵And it came to pass, as the angels departed from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, Let us make our way then now as far as Bethlehem, and let us see this thing that is come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.

¹⁶အလျင်အမြန်သွား၍ မာရိနှင့်ယောသပ်ကို၎င်း၊ နွားစားခွက်၌ သိပ်ထားလျက်ရှိသောသူငယ်ကို၎င်း တွေ့ကြ၏။

¹⁶And they came with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger;

¹⁷တွေ့မြင်ပြီးမှ မိမိတို့ကြားသောထိုသူငယ်၏ အကြောင်းစကားကို အနှံ့အပြားပြောကြ၏။

¹⁷and having seen [it] they made known about the country the thing which had been said to them concerning this child.

¹⁸သိုးထိန်းတို့ပြောသောစကားကိုကြားသော သူရှိသမျှုတို့သည် အံ့ဩခြင်းရှိကြ၏။

¹⁸And all who heard [it] wondered at the things said to them by the shepherds.

¹⁹မာရိသည်ထိုအကြောင်းအရာအလုံးစုံတို့ကို မှတ်ကျုံး၍ စဉ်းစားဆင်ခြင်လျက်နေ၏။

¹⁹But Mary kept all these things [in her mind], pondering [them] in her heart.

²⁰သိုးထိန်းတို့သည်လည်း မိမိတို့အားပြောနှင့်သည်အတိုင်း ကြားမြင်သမျှသော အကြောင်းအရာကို ထောက်၍၊ ဘုရားသခင်ကို အံ့ဩချီးမွမ်းလျက် ပြန်သွားကြ၏။

²⁰And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all things which they had heard and seen, as it had been said to them.

²¹ထိုသူငယ်အား အရေဖျားလှီးခြင်းကို ပေးရသောနေ့တည်းဟူသော ရှစ်ရက်မြောက်သောနေ့ရောက် လျှင်၊ ပဋိသန္ဓေစွဲတော်မမူမှီ ကောင်းကင်တမန် မှည့်သော ယေရှုအမည်ဖြင့် မှည့်ကြ၏။

²¹And when eight days were fulfilled for circumcising him, his name was called Jesus, which was the name given by the angel before he had been conceived in the womb.

²²ထိုနောက် မောရှေ၏ ပညတ်တရားအတိုင်း စင်ကြယ်ခြင်းကိုပြုရသော နေ့ရက်စေ့သောအခါ၊ မိဘတို့ သည် သူငယ်ကို ယေရှုရှလင်မြို့သို့ ဆောင်သွား၍၊

²²And when the days were fulfilled for their purifying according to the law of Moses, they brought him to Jerusalem to present [him] to the Lord

²³သားဦးယောက်ျားအပေါင်းတို့သည် ဘုရားအဘို့ သန့်ရှင်းရကြ၏ဟု ထာဝရဘုရား၏ ပညတ္တိကျမ်းလာ သည်နှင့်အညီ၊ ထာဝရဘုရားအား ဆက်ကပ်ပြီးမှ၊

²³(as it is written in the law of [the] Lord: Every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord),

²⁴ခိုနှစ်ကောင်ဖြစ်စေ၊ ချိုးကလေးနှစ်ကောင်ဖြစ်စေ၊ တခုခုကိုပူဇော်ရမည်ဟု ထာဝရဘုရား၏ ပညတ္တိ ကျမ်းလာပြန်သည်နှင့်အညီ ယဇ်ပူဇော်ကြ၏။

²⁴and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of [the] Lord: A pair of turtle doves, or two young pigeons.

²⁵ထိုအခါ ရှုမောင်အမည်ရှိသော သူတယောက်သည် ယေရုရှလင်မြို့၌ရှိ၏။ ထိုသူသည် ဖြောင့်မတ် သောသူ၊ တရားကိုရိုသေသောသူ၊ ဣသရေလအမျိုး၏ သက်သာခြင်းအကြောင်းကို မြော်လင့်သောသူဖြစ်၏။ သန့်ရှင်းသောဝိညာဉ်တော်သည် သူ့အပေါ်၌ တည်သည်ဖြစ်၍၊

²⁵And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was just and pious, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and [the] Holy Spirit was upon him.

²⁶သူသည်ထာဝရဘုရား၏ ခရစ်တော်ကိုမမြင်မှီ သေရဟုဗျာဒိတ်တော်ကိုရ၏။

²⁶And it was divinely communicated to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death before he should see [the] Lord's Christ.

²⁷ထိုအခါသူသည် ဝိညာဉ်တော်အားဖြင့် ဗိမာန်တော်သို့သွား၍၊ မိဘတို့သည် သူငယ်ယေရှုကို ပညတ် တရားထုံးတမ်းအတိုင်းပြုခြင်းငှါ ဆောင်သွားစဉ်တွင်၊

²⁷And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and as the parents brought in the child Jesus that they might do for him according to the custom of the law,

²⁸ရှုမောင်သည်ယေရှုကို လက်နှင့်ချီပိုက်၍၊

²⁸*he* received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,

²⁹ဘုရားသခင်၏ကျေးဇူးတော်ကို ချီးမွမ်းလျက်၊ အစိုးရတော်မူသောအရှင်၊ ဗျာဒိတ်တော်အတိုင်း ကိုယ် တော်၏ကျွန်သည် ငြိမ်ဝပ်စွာ စုတေ့ရသောအခွင့်ကို ကိုယ်တော်သည် ယခုတွင်ပေးတော်မူ၏။

²⁹Lord, now thou lettest thy bondman go, according to thy word, in peace;

³⁰ကိုယ်တော်၏လူ ဣသရေလအမျိုးကို ချီးမြှောက်စေခြင်းငှါ၎င်း၊ တပါးအမျိုးသားတို့ကို လင်းစေခြင်း ငှါ၎င်း၊ လူအမျိုးမျိုးတို့ရှေ့မှောက်၌ ပြင်ဆင်တော်မူသောအလင်းတည်းဟူသော ကယ်တင်သောသခင်ကို အကျွန်ုပ်သည် ကိုယ်မျက်စိနှင့်မြင်ရပါ၏ဟု မြွက်ဆို၏။

³⁰for mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

³³ထိုစကားများကို ယောသပ်နှင့်မယ်တော်သည် ကြားလျှင် အံ့ဩခြင်းရှိကြ၏။

³¹which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples;

³⁴ရှုမောင်သည်လည်း သူတို့ကိုကောင်းကြီးပေး၍ မယ်တော်မာရိအား၊ ဤသူငယ်ကား ဣသရေလလူ အများလဲမည်အကြောင်း၊ အများထမည်အကြောင်း၊ လူအများတို့၏အကြံအစည်ကို ထင်ရှားစေခြင်းငှါ ငြင်းခုံ စရာဖြစ်မည်အကြောင်း ခန့်ထားသောသူဖြစ်၏။

³²a light for revelation of [the] Gentiles and [the] glory of thy people Israel.

³⁵ထိုမှတပါး သန်လျက်သည် သင်၏စိတ်နှလုံးကို ခွင်းလိမ့်မည်ဟု မြွက်ဆို၏။

³³And his father and mother wondered at the things which were said concerning him.

³⁶အာရှာအမျိုးဖြစ်သော ဖနွေလ၏သမီး၊ အန္နအမည်ရှိသော ပရောဖက်မတယောက်ရှိ၏။ သူသည် ပျိုသောအရွယ်မှစ၍ ခုနစ်နှစ်သောလင်နှင့် နေပြီးလျှင်၊

³⁴And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Lo, this [child] is set for the fall and rising up of many in Israel, and for a sign spoken against;

³⁷အသက်ကြီးရင့်၍ အနှစ်ရှစ်ဆယ်လေးနှစ်ခန့်မျှ တိုင်တိုင်မုတ်ဆိုးမဖြစ်လျက်၊ ဆုတောင်းခြင်းနှင့် အစာ ရှောင်ခြင်းအားဖြင့် နေ့ညဉ့်မပြတ် ဘုရားဝတ်ကိုပြု၍ ဗိမာန်တော်နှင့် မခွါဘဲနေ၏။

³⁵(and even a sword shall go through thine own soul;) so that [the] thoughts may be revealed from many hearts.

³⁸သူသည်လည်း ထိုခဏခြင်းတွင်ဝင်၍ ထာဝရဘုရား၏ကျေးဇူးတော်ကို ချီးမွမ်းလေ၏။ ယေရုရှလင်မြို့ ၌ ရွေးနှုတ်ခြင်းအရာကို မြော်လင့်သောသူအပေါင်းတို့အား ထိုသူငယ်၏ အကြောင်းကို ပြောလေ၏။

³⁶And there was a prophetess, Anna, daughter of Phanuel, of [the] tribe of Asher, who was far advanced in years, having lived with [her] husband seven years from her virginity,

³⁹မိဘတို့သည် ထာဝရဘုရား၏ ပညတ်တရားအတိုင်း ပြုရသမျှတို့ကို အကုန်အစင်ပြုပြီးမှ၊ ဂါလိလဲ ပြည်၊ နာဇရက်အမည်ရှိသော မိမိတို့ မြို့သို့ပြန်ကြ၏။

³⁷and herself a widow up to eighty-four years; who did not depart from the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers;

⁴⁰သူငယ်သည်လည်းကြီးပွား၍ပညာဥာဏ်သတ္တိနှင့် ပြည့်စုံ၏။ ဘုရားသခင်၏ကျေးဇူးတော်သည်လည်း သူ့အပေါ်၌တည်၏။

³⁸and she coming up the same hour gave praise to the Lord, and spoke of him to all those who waited for redemption in Jerusalem.

⁴¹မိဘတို့သည် နှစ်တိုင်းအစဉ်ပသခါ ပွဲခံချိန်ရောက်လျှင်၊ ယေရုရှလင်မြို့သို့သွားကြ၏။

³⁹And when they had completed all things according to the law of [the] Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own city Nazareth.

⁴²ယေရှုသည် တဆယ်နှစ်နှစ်ရှိသောအခါ ပသခါ ပွဲထုံးစံအတိုင်း ယေရုရှလင်မြို့သို့တက်ကြ၍၊

⁴⁰And the child grew and waxed strong [in spirit], filled with wisdom, and God's grace was upon him.

⁴³ပွဲနေ့ရက်လွန်ပြီးမှ မိဘတို့သည်ပြန်ကြလျှင်၊ သူငယ်ယေရှုသည် ယေရုရှလင်မြို့၌နေရစ်လေ၏။ ယောသပ်နှင့်မယ်တော်သည် ထိုအကြောင်းကို မသိ၍၊

⁴¹And his parents went yearly to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover.

⁴⁴အပေါင်းအဘော်စုထဲမှာ သူငယ်ပါသည်ဟု စိတ်ထင်နှင့် တနေ့ခရီးသွားမိလျှင်၊ အဆွေအမျိုး အသိ အကျွမ်းတို့တွင်ရှာ၍၊

⁴²And when he was twelve years old, and they went up [to Jerusalem] according to the custom of the feast

⁴⁵မတွေ့သောအခါ ယေရုရှလင်မြို့သို့ ပြန်၍ရှာကြ၏။

⁴³and had completed the days, as they returned, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, and his parents knew not [of it];

⁴⁶သူငယ်မူကား၊ ဗိမာန်တော်၌ ဆရာများအလယ်မှာထိုင်၍ ထိုသူတို့နှင့်ဆွေးနွေးမေးမြန်းလျက်ရှိသည်ကို မိဘတို့သည် သုံးရက်ကြာမှတွေ့ကြ၏။

⁴⁴but, supposing him to be in the company that journeyed together, they went a day's journey, and sought him among their relations and acquaintances:

⁴⁷သူ၏စကားကိုကြားသောသူအပေါင်းတို့သည် သူ၏ပညာကို၎င်း၊ စကားအဖြေကို၎င်း အံ့ဩကြ၏။

⁴⁵and not having found him they returned to Jerusalem seeking him.

⁴⁸မိဘတို့သည် သားကိုမြင်လျှင်မိန်းမောတွေဝေ၍ မယ်တော်က၊ ငါ့သား၊ အဘယ်ကြောင့် ငါတို့အား ဤသို့ ပြုသနည်း။ ညှိုးငယ်ကြောင့်ကြသော စိတ်နှင့်မိဘတို့သည် မောင်ကိုရှာကြပြီဟုဆိုသော်၊

⁴⁶And it came to pass, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers and hearing them and asking them questions.

⁴⁹ယေရှုက၊ မိဘသည် အဘယ်ကြောင့် အကျွန်ုပ်ကိုရှာရပါသနည်း။ အကျွန်ုပ်သည်အဘ၏ အိမ်၌ နေရသည်ကို မသိပါသလောဟု ပြောဆိုလျှင်၊

⁴⁷And all who heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

⁵⁰သူတို့သည် ထိုစကားကိုနားမလည်ကြ။

⁴⁸And when they saw him they were amazed: and his mother said to him, Child, why hast thou dealt thus with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee distressed.

⁵¹ထိုနောက် ယေရှုသည် မိဘတို့နှင့်အတူသွားသဖြင့် နာဇရက်မြို့သို့ရောက်၍ သူတို့စကားကို နား ထောင်လျက်နေလေ၏။ ထိုအကြောင်းအရာ အလုံးစုံတို့ကို မယ်တော်သည် နှလုံးထဲ၌ မှတ်ကျုံးလေ၏။

⁴⁹And he said to them, Why [is it] that ye have sought me? did ye not know that I ought to be [occupied] in my Father's business?

⁵²ယေရှုသည်လည်း အစဉ်အတိုင်းကြီး၍ ပညာတိုးပွားလျက်၊ ဘုရားသခင်ရှေ့၊ လူတို့ရှေ့မှာ မျက်နှာ ရတော်မူ၏။

⁵⁰And they understood not the thing that he said to them.

⁵¹And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and he was in subjection to them. And his mother kept all these things in her heart.

⁵²And Jesus advanced in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.
