¹And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?

¹David sa: Er det ennu nogen tilbake av Sauls hus, så jeg kan gjøre vel mot ham for Jonatans skyld?

²And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba; and they called him to David. And the king said to him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant!

²Nu var der i Sauls hus en tjener som hette Siba; han blev kalt til David, og kongen sa til ham: Er du Siba? Han svarte: Ja, din tjener heter så.

³And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God to him? And Ziba said to the king, Jonathan has yet a son, who is lame on [his] feet.

³Da sa kongen: Er det ikke ennu nogen tilbake av Sauls hus, så jeg kunde gjøre Guds miskunnhet mot ham? Siba svarte: Det er ennu en sønn av Jonatan, en som er lam i begge føtter.

⁴And the king said to him, Where is he? And Ziba said to the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.

⁴Kongen spurte: Hvor er han? Siba svarte: Han er i huset hos Makir, sønn av Ammiel, i Lo-Debar.

⁵And king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar.

⁵Så sendte kong David bud og hentet ham fra Makirs, Ammiels sønns hus i Lo-Debar.

⁶And Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, and fell on his face and did obeisance. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he said, Behold thy servant!

⁶Og da Mefiboset, sønn av Jonatan, Sauls sønn, kom inn til David, kastet han sig ned med ansiktet mot jorden. Og David sa: Mefiboset! Han svarte: Her er din tjener.

⁷And David said to him, Fear not; for I will certainly shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.

⁷David sa til ham: Vær ikke redd! Jeg vil gjøre vel mot dig for Jonatans, din fars skyld og gi dig tilbake all Sauls, din fars jordeiendom, og du skal alltid ete ved mitt bord.

⁸And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?

⁸Da kastet han sig ned og sa: Hvad er din tjener, at du lar ditt øie falle på en død hund som mig?

⁹Then the king called Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him, I have given to thy master's son all that belonged to Saul and to all his house.

⁹Så kalte kongen på Siba, Sauls tjener, og sa til ham: Alt som har hørt Saul og hele hans hus til, har jeg gitt din herres sønn.

¹⁰And thou, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in [the fruits], that thy master's son may have food to eat. And Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread at my table continually. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

¹⁰Og du skal dyrke jorden for ham, du og dine sønner og dine tjenere, og høste inn for ham, så din herres sønn kan ha brød å ete, men selv skal Mefiboset, din herres sønn, alltid ete ved mitt bord. Siba hadde femten sønner og tyve tjenere.

¹¹And Ziba said to the king, According to all that my lord the king has commanded his servant, so will thy servant do. And Mephibosheth [said David] shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons.

¹¹Da sa Siba til kongen: Din tjener skal i alle måter gjøre således som min herre kongen befaler sin tjener. Men Mefiboset skal ete ved mitt bord som en av kongens sønner [sa kongen].

¹²And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. And all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants to Mephibosheth.

¹²Mefiboset hadde en liten sønn som hette Mika, og alle som bodde i Sibas hus, var Mefibosets tjenere.

¹³So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem; for he did eat continually at the king's table. And he was lame on both his feet.
