¹And after this I saw four angels standing upon the four corners of the earth, holding fast the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow upon the earth, nor upon the sea, nor upon any tree.

¹Derefter så jeg fire engler som stod på jordens fire hjørner og holdt jordens fire vinder, forat det ikke skulde blåse nogen vind over jorden eller over havet eller på noget tre.

²And I saw another angel ascending from [the] sunrising, having [the] seal of [the] living God; and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it had been given to hurt the earth and the sea,

²Og jeg så en annen engel, som steg op fra solens opgang og hadde den levende Guds segl, og han ropte med høi røst til de fire engler som det var gitt å skade jorden og havet, og sa:

³saying, Hurt not the earth, nor the sea, nor the trees, until we shall have sealed the bondmen of our God upon their foreheads.

³Skad ikke jorden eller havet eller trærne før vi har satt innsegl på vår Guds tjenere i deres panner!

⁴And I heard the number of the sealed, a hundred [and] forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of [the] sons of Israel:

⁵out of [the] tribe of Juda, twelve thousand sealed; out of [the] tribe of Reuben, twelve thousand; out of [the] tribe of Gad, twelve thousand;

⁸out of [the] tribe of Zabulun, twelve thousand; out of [the] tribe of Joseph, twelve thousand; out of [the] tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand sealed.

⁹After these things I saw, and lo, a great crowd, which no one could number, out of every nation and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palm branches in their hands.

⁹Derefter så jeg, og se, en stor skare, som ingen kunde telle, av alle ætter og stammer og folk og tunger, som stod for tronen og for Lammet, klædd i lange hvite kjortler, og med palmegrener i sine hender;

¹⁰And they cry with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb.

¹⁰og de ropte med høi røst og sa: Frelsen tilhører vår Gud, han som sitter på tronen, og Lammet!

¹¹And all the angels stood around the throne, and the elders, and the four living creatures, and fell before the throne upon their faces, and worshipped God,

¹¹Og alle englene stod omkring tronen og om de eldste og om de fire livsvesener, og de falt ned for tronen på sitt åsyn og tilbad Gud og sa:

¹²saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and strength, to our God, to the ages of ages. Amen.

¹²Amen! Velsignelsen og prisen og visdommen og takken og æren og makten og styrken tilhører vår Gud i all evighet! Amen.

¹³And one of the elders answered, saying to me, These who are clothed with white robes, who are they, and whence came they?

¹³Og en av de eldste tok til orde og sa til mig: Disse som er klædd i de lange hvite kjortler, hvem er de, og hvor er de kommet fra?

¹⁴And I said to him, My lord, *thou* knowest. And he said to me, These are they who come out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and have made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹⁴Og jeg sa til ham: Herre! du vet det. Og han sa til mig: Dette er de som kommer ut av den store trengsel, og de har tvettet sine kjortler og gjort dem hvite i Lammets blod.

¹⁵Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple, and he that sits upon the throne shall spread his tabernacle over them.

¹⁵Derfor er de for Guds trone og tjener ham dag og natt i hans tempel, og han som sitter på tronen, skal reise sin bolig over dem.

¹⁶They shall not hunger any more, neither shall they thirst any more, nor shall the sun at all fall on them, nor any burning heat;

¹⁶De skal ikke hungre mere, heller ikke tørste mere; solen skal heller ikke falle på dem, eller nogen hete;

¹⁷because the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall shepherd them, and shall lead them to fountains of waters of life, and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.

¹⁷for Lammet, som er midt for tronen, skal vokte dem og føre dem til livsens vannkilder, og Gud skal tørke bort hver tåre av deres øine.
