1And Rehoboam went to Shechem; for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.
1Huan, Rehoboam Sekem khuaah a hoha; Israelte tengteng Sekem khuaah kumpipa dia amah bawl dingin a hohkhinta ngal ua.
2And it came to pass when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard it (now he was yet in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;
2Huan, hichi ahi a, Nebat tapa Jerobamin huai thu a najakin (kumpipa Solomon kianga kipana a tai mangna Aigupta gama omlai ahi a, huchiin Jeroboam Aigupta gama om lailai a vasam sak ua; )
3and they sent and called him), that Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,
3Jeroboam leh Israel kikaikhawmte tengteng a hong ua, Rehoboam kiangah,
4Thy father made our yoke grievous; and now lighten thou the grievous servitude of thy father and his heavy yoke that he put upon us, and we will serve thee.
4Na pan ka hakkol uh a giksak thei mahmaha: huaijiakin na pa honzat gimna leh, a hakkol gik tak ka tung ua a ngak honhih jang sak inla, huchiin na na kasem ding uh, chiin a hong gen ua.
5And he said to them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
5Huan, aman a kiang uah, Ni thum sung peuhmah va kikhin khe phot unla, huan, ka kiangah hongpai nawn un, a chi a, Huchiin mipite a kikhin khesakta hi.
6And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, How do ye advise to return answer to this people?
6Huan, kumpipa Rehoboamin a pa Solomon dam laia a kianga om sek upate, Hiai mipite ka dawn dan ding kizen bang non ngaihtuah pih ua oi? chiin a thu a dong a,
7And they spoke to him saying, If this day thou wilt be a servant to this people, and wilt serve them and answer them and speak good words to them, they will be thy servants for ever.
7Huan, amau a kiangah, Tua hiaite sikhaa na oma, a na uh na sepa, amau dawna, a kiang ua thu hoih tak gen na tup leh, khantawnin na sikhain a om ding uh, chiin a gen ua.
8But he forsook the advice of the old men which they had given him, and consulted with the young men, who had grown up with him, that stood before him.
8Himahleh upate hoihsakpih a jui keia, amah toh kivual tangvalte, a kianga omsekte a thu uh adong zota hi.
9And he said to them, What advice give ye that we may return answer to this people who have spoken to me saying, Lighten the yoke which thy father put upon us?
9A kiang uah, Hiai mipite, ka kianga, Na pan ka tung ua hakkol a ngak hon hihjangsak in, chia genmite ka dawn dan ding kizen bang non ngaihtuah pih ua oi? a chi a.
10And the young men that had grown up with him spoke to him saying, Thus shalt thou say to this people that have spoken to thee saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, and lighten thou it for us, -- thus shalt thou say to them: My little [finger] is thicker than my father's loins;
10Huan, a khanvual tangvalten a kiangah, Hiai mipite, Na pan ka hakkol uh a gik sak thei mahmaha, nang honhihjang dih ve, na kianga chimite kiangah, hichibangin chiinla, hichibangin a kiang uah genin:
11and whereas my father laid a heavy yoke upon you, *I* will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but *I* will chastise you with scorpions.
11Ka pa kawng sangin ka khutme a lian jaw. Ka pan hakkol gik tak a honna bat saka, ken na hakkol uh ka behlap sin lai hi: ka pan jepnain a honna sawi seka, ken ahihleh aikamin ka honsawi sin hi, chiin, a gen a.
12And Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed saying, Come again to me on the third day.
12Huchiin Jeroboam leh mipite tengteng kumpipan, Ni thum nung chiangin ka kiangah hong nawn un, chia ahilh bangin, a ni thum niin Rehoboam kiangah a vahoh ua.
13And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the advice of the old men which they had given him;
13Huan, kumpipan mipite khauh takin a na dawnga, jupate phatsak pihlah a pom keia:
14and he spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but *I* will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but *I* will chastise you with scorpions.
14Tangvalte hoihsak bangin, Ka pan na hakkol uh anagiksaka, ken na hakkol uh ka behlap lai sin, kapan jepnain a honna sawi seka, ken ahihleh aikamin ka hon sawi sin ahi, a chi a.
15So the king hearkened not to the people; for it was brought about by Jehovah, that he might give effect to his word, which Jehovah spoke through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
15Huchiin kumpipan mipite thu gen a pom ta keia; huai bel Toupa jiak ahi. Toupan Silo mi Ahija zanga, Nebat tapa Jeroboam kianga a thu gen a hihkip theihna dingin.

16Huan, Israelte tengtengin kumpipan a thugen uh a pom kei chih a theih un, mipiten, David ah tantuan bang I nei ua? 17But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
17Israel suan, Juda gam khua omte bel, a tunguah Rehoboamin vai a hawma.
18And king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the levy; but all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. And king Rehoboam hastened to mount his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

19And Israel rebelled against the house of David, unto this day.
19Huchiin Israelte David inkote tungah a nahelta uh, tutanin.
20And it came to pass when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come back, that they sent and called him to the assembly, and made him king over all Israel: none followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
20Huan, hichi ahi a, Israelte tengtengin Jeroboam a hong kik nawn chih a jak un, kikaihkhawmnaa hong dingin a sam sak ua, Israelte tengteng tungah kumpipain a bawlta uh: Juda nam lel lou David inkote jui kuamah a om kei uh.
21And Rehoboam came to Jerusalem; and he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men apt for war, to fight against the house of Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
21Huan, Rehoboamin Jerusalem khua a tun takin Israel inkote doua Solomon tapa Rehoboam gam la nawn dingin Juda inkote tengteng leh, Benjamin nam, mi hangsan ngen a tel khiak, nuai khat leh sing giat tak a khawmkhawm a.

24Thus saith Jehovah: Go not up, nor fight with your brethren, the children of Israel; return every man to his house, for this thing is from me. And they hearkened to the word of Jehovah, and returned to depart, according to the word of Jehovah.
24Toupan hichiin a chi, Vahoh tou kei un, Israel suan, na unaute vadou sam kei un; na in lam chiat uah pai nawn vek un; hiai hi kei hih ahi, chiin genin, chiin, Huchiin Toupa thu a mang ua, Toupa thu bangin a kik nawn ua, a pai nawn vek uh.

26And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David.
26Huan, Jeroboamin a lungsimin, Gam David inkotea honghi nawn na mahmah inchia:
27If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of Jehovah at Jerusalem, the heart of this people will turn again to their lord, to Rehoboam king of Judah, and they will kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.
27Hiai mite khawng Jerusalem khua Toupa ina kithoihnate lan dinga a hoh touh uleh hiai mite lungtangah a Toupa uh, Rehoboan, Juda gam kumpipa lamah a awn nawn mai ding; huchiin kei a honthat ding ua, Juda gam kumpipa Rehoboam lamah a belh nawn mai ding uh ka chi, a chi a.
28And the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold. And he said to them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt!
28Huchiin kumpipan mi a donga, dangkaeng bawngnou lim nih a bawla; a kiang uah, Nou dingin Jerusalem khuaa hoh touh a hak sa lotela; aw endih uh, Aigupta gam akipana honpikhepa na pathiante uh, a chi a.
29And he set the one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan.
29Huan, khat Bethel ah a koiha, khat Dan ah a koih.
30And this thing became a sin; and the people went [to worship] before the one, as far as Dan.
30Huai thil bel khelhna a honghita hi: mipite lah a niha be dingin Dan phain a hoh ngal ua.
31And he made a house of high places, and made priests from all classes of the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.

32And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast that was in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made; and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places that he had made.
