1Who is as the wise? and who knoweth the explanation of things? A man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face is changed.
1Mi pil banga om kua ahia? huan thil hilhchetna kua ahia thei? Mihing pilnain a mai a vak saka, a mai takna a kikheng hi.
2I [say], Keep the king's commandment, and [that] on account of the oath of God.
2Kon thuhilh, Pathian thuchiam lam thu-ah, kumpipa thupiak juiin.
3Be not hasty to go out of his sight; persist not in an evil thing: for he doeth whatever pleaseth him,
3A omna mun akipan pai khe dingin mangang ken; thil golou ah engtat ken: aman lah a utut a hih sek ngala.
4because the word of a king is power; and who may say unto him, What doest thou?
4Kumpipa thuin thilhihtheihna a neih jiakin; Bang ahia na hih? kuan ahia a kianga chi thei ding?
5Whoso keepeth the commandment shall know no evil thing; and a wise man's heart knoweth time and manner.
5Thupiak jui ten thil gilou a theikei ding uh; huan mipil lungtangin hun leh vaihawmna a theikhen jel:
6For to every purpose there is time and manner. For the misery of man is great upon him;
6Thiltup chiteng ah lah hun leh vaihawmna a om ngala; mihing haksatna lah a tungah a thupi ngala:
7for he knoweth not that which shall be; for who can tell him how it shall be?
7A hongom ding lah a thei ngal keia; bangchiin a om dia chih amah kuan a hilh thei dia leh?
8There is no man who hath control over the spirit to retain the spirit; and no one hath control over the day of death; and there is no discharge in that war, neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
8Kha lentang dingin kha tunga thilhihtheihna nei mi a om kei; sihna ni tungah leng thilhihtheihna a nei sam kei: Huan huai kidouna ah panna a om kei: piaka om gitlouhnain amah a hunkhe sam kei ding hi.
9All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time when man ruleth man to his hurt.
9Hiai tengteng ka mu-a, nasep chiteng ni nuaia hiha ka lungtang ka piaa: a siatna dingin mi khatin midang tunga thil hihtheihna a neih louh hun a om hi.
10And I have also seen the wicked buried and going away; and such as had acted rightly went from [the] holy place, and were forgotten in the city. This also is vanity.
10Huan giloute vuia om ka mu laia, huan han ah a hong ua; huchiin hihdikte mun siangthou akipan a pai mang ua, khopi-ah manghilhin a om uhi: hiai leng bangmahlou ahi.
11Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the children of men is fully set in them to do evil.
11Gilou nasep kintaka gawtna a kibawl louh jiakin, huaijiakin mite tapate lungtang gilou hih dingin huaiah koih kipin a om hi.
12Though a sinner do evil a hundred times, and prolong his [days], yet I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, because they fear before him;
12Mikhialin golou za vei hihin, a nite susau mahleh, Pathian kihtamite amaua dingin a hoih ding chih ka thei mahmah hi, a maa laudan siamte:
13but it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong [his] days as a shadow, because he feareth not before God.
13Himahleh giloute adingin a hoih kei ding, a nite leng a sausak kei dinga, huai lah limliap bang ahi; Pathian maa laudan a siam louh jiakin.
14There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there are righteous [men] unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; and there are wicked [men] to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.
14Bangmahlou leitunga hiha om a oma; mi diktat omta bang hile zong, amah tunga migilou nasep dungjuiin a hongom nak hi; huailouin mi giloute omta bang hile zong, mi diktatte nasep dungjuiin a tunguah a hongom nak hi: hiai leng bangmahlou ahi ka chi hi.
15And I commended mirth, because there is nothing better for man under the sun than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry; for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God hath given him under the sun.
15Nek leh, dawna, vualnuama om kan, ni nuaia mihingin thil hoihjaw a neih louh jiakin, vualnopna ka phat hi: Pathianin amah ni nuaia a piak a damsung ni tengtenga a sepgimna ah amah toh a om gige ding ahi ngala.
16When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes),
16Pilna thei ding leh, leitunga hiha om thulehla mu dinga ka lungtang ka suk laiin: (sun hiam jan hiama a mita ihmut muh louh lah a om ngala: )Huchiin Pathian thilhih tengteng ka mu-a, huchiin ni nuaia hih thilhih mihingin a mukhe theikei hi: zong khe dingin mihing nakpi takin pang lezong, a muh louh ding lai jiakin; ahi, huailouin, mi pilin thei kisa mahleh, a mu khe theikei ding hi.
17then I saw that all [is] the work of God, [and] that man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because however man may labour to seek [it] out, yet doth he not find [it]; and even, if a wise [man] think to know [it], he shall not be able to find [it] out.
17Huchiin Pathian thilhih tengteng ka mu-a, huchiin ni nuaia hih thilhih mihingin a mukhe theikei hi: zong khe dingin mihing nakpi takin pang lezong, a muh louh ding lai jiakin; ahi, huailouin, mi pilin thei kisa mahleh, a mu khe theikei ding hi.
