55

1{To the chief Musician. On stringed instruments: an instruction. Of David.} Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.
1Pathian aw, ka thumna ah bil nadoh inla; hehpih ka ngetna ah kisel ken.
2Attend unto me, and answer me: I wander about in my plaint, and I moan aloud,
2Honja inla, hondawng in: ka mangbut thu jiakin ka mau vialviala, ka thum nilouhlouh hi.
3Because of the voice of the enemy; because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in anger they persecute me.
3Melma husa in honhihmangbang; mi gilou-salou nuaisiahnain a honvuk ua, hehin honsawi ngal ua.
4My heart is writhing within me, and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
4Ka sungah ka lungtang a na mahmah a: sih mulkimnaten hondelh khum hi.
5Fear and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.
5Lauthawnna leh linnain honbawma, launain a honkhuh khinta hi.
6And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away, and be at rest;
6Huan, ken, vakhu banga kha neih ut hina tel ing e, aw! Huchiin ka leng mang dinga, khamuang takin ka om ding.
7Behold, I would flee afar off, I would lodge in the wilderness; Selah;
7Ngaiin, gamla pi-ah ka vialvak dia, gamdai ah ka om ding hi. Selah.
8I would hasten my escape from the stormy wind, from the tempest.
8Huih thupi leh huih bukna munah ka pai meng ding, ka chi a.
9Swallow [them] up, Lord; divide their tongue: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
9Toupa aw, a lei uh hihsiain hihkek in; khopi ah ngongtatna leh ki-uina ka mu ngala.
10Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof; and iniquity and mischief are in the midst of it.
10Sun leh janin khopi kulh dawnah a vialvak ua: a sungah thulimlouhna leh haksatna a om hi.
11Perversities are in the midst thereof; and oppression and deceit depart not from its streets.
11Gitlouh-satlouhna a sungah a oma: nuaisiahna leh zekhemnain kholak a pawtsan ngeikei.
12For it is not an enemy that hath reproached me -- then could I have borne it; neither is it he that hateth me that hath magnified [himself] against me -- then would I have hidden myself from him;
12Hon gensia lah melma ahi ngal keia; hileh jaw, ka thuak thei zo ding: ka tunga kihihlian tuh honhua lah ahi sam keia; hileh jaw, ka buksan ding hi.
13But it was thou, a man mine equal, mine intimate, my familiar friend. ...
13Himahleh, nang, ka mibatpih, ka lawm, kithuahpih theih na hi ngala.
14We who held sweet intercourse together. To the house of God we walked amid the throng.
14Kam khum takin i kihou khawm jela, mipi laka Pathian biakin ah i pawt jela.
15Let death seize upon them, let them go down alive into Sheol. For wickedness is in their dwellings, in their midst.
15Sihna a tunguah hontung guih henla, kohawm ah a hingin paisuk uhen: gitlouh- satlouhnate a omna uah leh a gilsung uah tekhawng a om ngala.
16As for me, unto God will I call; and Jehovah will save me.
16Ken jaw Pathian ka sam dinga; huchiin Toupan honhondam ding hi.
17Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray and moan aloud; and he will hear my voice.
17Nitaklam bang jingsang bang, sun bangin ka bangbat thu ka genin ka thum dinga, huchiin aman ka aw a ngaikhe ding hi.
18He hath redeemed my soul in peace from the battle against me: for there were many about me.
18Ka tunga kidouna lakah ka hinna khamuang takin a humbit taa: honsualte lah a tam ngal ua.
19ùGod will hear, and afflict them: he that is seated of old, (Selah) ... because there is no change in them, and they fear not God.
19Pathian, nidang laia om gigein, a ngaikhe dia, amau a dawng ding. Selah
20He hath put forth his hands against such as are at peace with him; he hath profaned his covenant.
20Amah toh kituakte tungah a khut a lika: a thukhun tuh a hihbuahta hi.
21Smooth were the milky [words] of his mouth, but his heart was war; his words were softer than oil, yet are they drawn swords.
21A kam tuh nawitui khal bangin a nema, a lungtang bel kidouna ahi ngala; a thute tuh sathau sangin a nala, himahleh namsau phawisate ah ngala.
22Cast thy burden upon Jehovah, and *he* will sustain thee: he will never suffer the righteous to be moved.

23And thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days. But as for me, I will confide in thee.
23Himahleh, P athian aw, nang amaute manthatna kohawmah na pai suk sak dind; sisan suahhat leh khemhat mite tuh a damsung kimkhat uleng a dam zou kei ding uhi; ken bel nang kon muang hi.
