¹Behold my servant whom I uphold, mine elect [in whom] my soul delighteth! I will put my Spirit upon him; he shall bring forth judgment to the nations.

¹ خداوند می‌گوید: «این است بندهٔ من که به او قدرت می‌بخشم. کسی‌که من او را برگزیده‌ام و از او خشنود هستم. او را از روح خود پُر کرده‌ام، و او عدالت را برای تمام ملّتها خواهد آورد.

²He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.

² او فریاد نمی‌زند، صدای خود را بلند نمی‌کند، و کسی سخنان او را در کوچه‌ها نخواهد شنید.

³A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment according to truth.

³ او نیِ خمیده را نخواهد شکست و چراغ کم نور را خاموش نمی‌کند. او عدالت پایدار برای همه به ارمغان خواهد آورد.

⁴He shall not faint nor be in haste, till he have set justice in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

⁴ او امید و جر‌أت خود را از دست نمی‌دهد. تا عدالت را بر تمام روی زمین استوار نماید. مردم سرزمینهای دوردست با اشتیاق منتظر تعالیم او هستند.»

⁵Thus saith ùGod, Jehovah, he that created the heavens and stretched them out, he that spread forth the earth and its productions, he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

⁵ خدا آسمانها را آفرید و آنها را گسترش داد، او زمین و هرچه را در آن زیست می‌کند، شکل داد و به تمام انسانها زندگی و نفس بخشید. اکنون خداوند -‌خدا- به بندهٔ خود می‌گوید:

⁶I, Jehovah, have called thee in righteousness, and will take hold of thy hand; and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the nations,

⁶ «من، خداوند، تو را خوانده‌ام و به تو قدرت بخشیده‌ام تا عدالت را در تمام روی زمین اجرا کنی. به وسیلهٔ تو من با تمام مردم جهان پیمانی می‌بندم؛ و به وسیلهٔ تو به همهٔ ملّتها نوری می‌بخشم.

⁷to open the blind eyes, to bring forth the prisoner from the prison, them that sit in darkness out of the house of restraint.

⁷ تو چشمان کوران را باز می‌کنی، و زندانیان را از سیاه‌چال آزاد می‌سازی.

⁸I am Jehovah, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

⁸ «من تنها خداوند، خدای تو هستم. هیچ خدایی در جلال من شریک نیست و هیچ بُتی از ستایش من سهمی ندارد.

⁹Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth will I cause you to hear them.

⁹ هرچه پیشگویی کرده بودم، به وقوع پیوسته است. اکنون از چیزهای تازه‌تری ‌قبل از آنکه شروع شوند، به شما خبر می‌دهم.»

¹⁰Sing unto Jehovah a new song, his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein, the isles and their inhabitants.

¹⁰ سرودی تازه برای خداوند بسرایید، ای تمامی زمین، در ستایش او بسرایید، هرچه در دریاست و موجوداتی که در آن زندگی می‌کنند، او را بستایند. ای جزایر دوردست و تمام سکنهٔ آنها بسرایید.

¹¹Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up [their voice], the villages that Kedar doth inhabit; let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains:

¹¹ بیابان و شهرهای آن خداوند را بستایند، مردم قیدار خداوند را حمد گویند! آنها که در شهر سالع زندگی می‌کنند از فراز کوهستان‌ها فریاد شادی برآورند.

¹²let them give glory unto Jehovah, and declare his praise in the islands.

¹² آنها که در سرزمینهای دوردست زندگی می‌کنند، خداوند را ستایش و تمجید کنند.

¹³Jehovah will go forth as a mighty man, he will stir up jealousy like a man of war: he will cry, yea, he will shout; he will shew himself mighty against his enemies.

¹³ خداوند مثل یک جنگجو به جنگ می‌رود، او برای کارزار آماده است. او با فریاد، فرمان جنگ و حمله را می‌دهد، و قدرت خود را به دشمنانش نشان می‌دهد.

¹⁴Long time have I holden my peace; I have been still, I have restrained myself: I will cry like a woman that travaileth; I will blow and pant at once.

¹⁴ خدا می‌گوید: «مدّت زیادی ساکت بودم و به آنها پاسخی ندادم. امّا اکنون زمان آن رسیده که اقدام کنم، من مانند زنی که در درد زایمان است فریاد می‌زنم.

¹⁵I will lay waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.

¹⁵ من کوهها و تل‌‌ها را ویران و دشتهای سرسبز و پر درخت را خشک می‌‌کنم. درّه‌های پر آب را به بیابان مُبدّل می‌کنم و خزائن آب ‌آنها را می‌خشکانم.

¹⁶And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not, in paths that they know not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

¹⁶ «قوم نابینای خود را در راههایی که هرگز نرفته‌اند، رهبری خواهم کرد. ظلمت آنها را به نور و زمین ناهموار را در برابر آنها هموار خواهم کرد. این است وعده‌های من و همهٔ آنها واقع خواهد شد.

¹⁷They shall be turned back, they shall be covered with shame, that confide in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.

¹⁷ تمام کسانی‌که به بُتها توکّل دارند و شمایل را خدا می‌خوانند، پست و شرمسار خواهند شد.»

¹⁸-- Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

¹⁸ خداوند می‌گوید «ای قوم ناشنوا، گوش دهید، و ای نابینایان با دقّت نگاه کنید!

¹⁹Who is blind, but my servant? and deaf, as my messenger whom I sent? Who is blind as he in whom I have trusted, and blind as Jehovah's servant,

¹⁹ آیا کسی از بندهٔ من اسرائیل، کورتر، و کسی از برگزیدهٔ من کَرتر می‌باشد؟

²⁰-- seeing many things, and thou observest not? With opened ears, he heareth not.

²⁰ ای اسرائیل، چیزهای زیادی دیده‌ای، امّا چیزی از آنها آموخته‌ای؟ تو گوشهایی داری که می‌شنوند، امّا آیا واقعاً چه چیز شنیده‌ای؟»

²¹Jehovah had delight [in him] for his righteousness' sake: he hath magnified the law, and made it honourable.

²¹ خداوند، خدایی است که به نجات تو اشتیاق دارد، به همین منظور شریعت و تعالیم خود را نمونه ساخت، و انتظار داشت که قوم خودش، آنها را محترم بدارند.

²²But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and hidden in prison-houses; they are become a prey, and none delivereth, -- a spoil, and none saith, Restore.

²² امّا اکنون قومش تاراج شده‌اند. آنها در سیاه‌چالها محبوس، و در زندانهای دوردست، مخفی هستند. اموال آنها را ربودند و غارت کردند و هیچ‌کس برای رهایی آنها نیامد.

²³Who among you will give ear to this, [who] will hearken and hear what is to come?

²³ آیا کسی از شما به این گوش می‌دهد؟ آیا از امروز به بعد با دقّت گوش خواهید داد؟

²⁴Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? Did not Jehovah, he against whom we have sinned? And they would not walk in his ways, neither did they hearken unto his law.

²⁴ چه کسی اسرائیل را تسلیم تاراج کنندگان کرد؟ خداوند خودش چنین کرد، چون ما برضد او گناه کردیم! ما آن‌طور که او می‌خواست زندگی نکردیم، و تعالیم او را اطاعت ننمودیم. از این رو او ما را وادار کرد تا قدرت خشم او را حس کنیم و متحمّل خشونت جنگ شویم. خشم او مانند آتش در اسرائیل برافروخته شد، ولی ما نمی‌دانستیم چه می‌گذرد و از این‌ وقایع اصلاً چیزی نیاموختیم.

²⁵And he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he took it not to heart.

²⁵ از این رو او ما را وادار کرد تا قدرت خشم او را حس کنیم و متحمّل خشونت جنگ شویم. خشم او مانند آتش در اسرائیل برافروخته شد، ولی ما نمی‌دانستیم چه می‌گذرد و از این‌ وقایع اصلاً چیزی نیاموختیم.
