¹Hear ye this, house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of Jehovah, and make mention of the God of Israel, not in truth, nor in righteousness.

¹ ای قوم اسرائیل، ای فرزندان یهودا، گوش کنید: شما به نام خداوند سوگند یاد می‌کنید و ادّعا می‌کنید که خدای اسرائیل را پرستش می‌کنید، امّا حتّی یک کلمهٔ آن را باور ندارید.

²For they are named after the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel: Jehovah of hosts is his name.

² با وجود این از اینکه شهروندان شهر مقدّس هستید و به خدای اسرائیل، خدای متعال، متّکی هستید، به خود می‌بالید.

³I have declared the former things long ago; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I caused them to be heard: I wrought suddenly, and they came to pass.

³ خداوند به قوم اسرائیل می‌گوید: «از زمانهای قدیم آنچه را که باید رُخ دهد پیشگویی کردم، سپس بلافاصله آن را بعمل آوردم.

⁴Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass,

⁴ می‌دانستم که شما آدمهایی خودسر و لجباز، -‌مثل آهن سخت و مثل برنز غیرقابل انعطاف- خواهید بود.

⁵so I have long ago declared [them] to thee; before they came to pass I caused thee to hear [them]; lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, or my molten image hath commanded them.

⁵ من آیندهٔ شما را به ترتیب از قدیم پیشگویی کردم، و وقایع را قبل از وقوع اعلام نمودم، تا شما نتوانید ادّعا کنید و بگویید که بُتها و شمایل شما باعث وقوع آنها بودند.

⁶Thou heardest, see all this; -- and ye, will not ye declare [it]? I have caused thee to hear new things from this time, and things hidden, and that thou knewest not:

⁶ «آنچه از پیش گفتم، همه تحقق یافته؛ و باید بپذیرید که پیشگویی‌های من همه درست بوده است. اکنون شما را از چیزهای تازه‌ای که اتّفاق می‌افتد، باخبر می‌کنم؛ اتّفاقاتی که قبلاً آشکار نکرده بودم.

⁷they are created now, and not long ago; and before this day thou hast not heard them, lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

⁷ فقط در این زمان می‌گذارم آنها روی دهند، هیچ‌وقت در گذشته چیزی شبیه این رُخ نداده است. اگر چنین چیزی رُخ داده بود، شما ادّعا می‌کردید که همهٔ آن را می‌دانستید.

⁸Yea, thou heardest not, yea, thou knewest not, yea, from of old thine ear was not opened; for I knew that thou wouldest ever deal treacherously, and thou wast called a transgressor from the womb.

⁸ من می‌دانستم که شما قابل اعتماد نیستید، و همیشه به عنوان سرکش و یاغی شهرت داشتید. به این دلیل است که شما تا به امروز چیزی دربارهٔ آن نشنیده‌اید، و کلمه‌ای از آن به گوش شما نرسیده است.

⁹For my name's sake I will defer mine anger, and [for] my praise will I refrain as to thee, that I cut thee not off.

⁹ «برای اینکه مردم نام مرا ستایش کنند، من جلوی خشم خود را می‌گیرم و آن را محار می‌کنم و شما را از بین نمی‌برم.

¹⁰Behold, I have refined thee, but not as silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

¹⁰ همان‌طور که نقره در کورهٔ آتش خالص می‌شود، همان‌طور من شما را در آتشِ درد و تحمّل آزمودم.

¹¹For mine own sake, for mine own sake, will I do [it]; for how should [my name] be profaned? and I will not give my glory unto another.

¹¹ آنچه من می‌کنم به‌خاطر نام خودم می‌کنم، من نمی‌گذارم نامم بی‌حرمت شود، و نمی‌گذارم هیچ‌کس در جلالی که می‌بایست فقط برای خودم باشد، شریک شود.»

¹²Hearken unto me, Jacob, and [thou] Israel, my called. I [am] HE; I, the first, and I, the last.

¹² خداوند می‌گوید: «ای اسرائیل، ای مردمی که من خوانده‌ام، بشنوید! من خدا، اولین و آخرین و تنها خدا هستم!

¹³Yea, my hand hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spread abroad the heavens: I call unto them, they stand up together.

¹³ دستهای من بنیاد زمین را گذاشت و آسمانها را گسترانید، وقتی من زمین و آسمان را احضار کنم، آنها فوراً می‌آیند و در حضور من می‌ایستند.

¹⁴All ye, gather yourselves together, and hear: which among them hath declared these things? He whom Jehovah hath loved shall execute his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm [shall be on] the Chaldeans.

¹⁴ «گرد آیید، و همه گوش دهید! هیچ خدایی نمی‌توانست از پیش بگوید کسی را که من برگزیده‌ام به بابل حمله کند، او آنچه من از او بخواهم، انجام می‌دهد.

¹⁵I, [even] I, have spoken; yea, I have called him; I have brought him, and his way shall be prosperous.

¹⁵ من آن کسی هستم که سخن گفت و او را فراخواند، من او را آوردم و به او موفقیّت دادم.

¹⁶Come near unto me, hear ye this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I; and now the Lord Jehovah hath sent me, and his Spirit.

¹⁶ «اکنون نزدیک بیا، و به آنچه می‌خواهم بگویم، گوش بده. از ابتدا به طور واضح سخن گفتم، و کلام من همیشه تحقّق یافته است.» (اکنون خدای متعال قدرت خود را به من داده و مرا فرستاده است.)

¹⁷Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I [am] Jehovah thy God, who teacheth thee for [thy] profit, who leadeth thee in the way that thou shouldest go.

¹⁷ خدای قدّوس اسرائیل -‌خداوندی که منجی توست- می‌گوید: «من خداوند، خدای تو هستم، خدایی که می‌خواهد خیر و صلاح خودت را به تو بیاموزد و تو را به راهی که می‌باید بروی، رهبری می‌کند.

¹⁸Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! Then would thy peace have been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea;

¹⁸ «اگر تو فقط به دستورات من گوش می‌دادی! آنگاه برکات، مثل نهری که هرگز خشک نمی‌شود به جانب تو جریان می‌داشت. و پیروزی مثل امواج ممتد کنار ساحل، به سوی تو روان می‌بود.

¹⁹and thy seed would have been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof: their name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.

¹⁹ فرزندان تو، مثل دانه‌های شن بی‌شمار می‌شدند، و نمی‌گذاشتم هیچ‌وقت شکست بخورند.»

²⁰Go ye forth from Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing; declare, cause this to be heard, utter it to the end of the earth; say ye, Jehovah hath redeemed his servant Jacob.

²⁰ از بابل خارج شوید، و از آنجا فرار کنید! با شادی و با صدای بلند، این خبر خوش را در همه‌جا اعلام کنید: «خداوند بندهٔ خود اسرائیل را رهایی داده است.»

²¹And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts; he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them; yea, he clave the rock, and the waters gushed out.

²¹ وقتی خداوند قوم خود را در صحرای خشک و داغ رهبری می‌کرد، مردم از بی‌آبی در رنج نبودند. خداوند از صخره، برای آنها آب روان جاری ساخت، او صخره را شکافت و آب از آن روان شد. خداوند می‌گوید: «برای گناهکاران، امنیّتی وجود نخواهد داشت.»

²²There is no peace, saith Jehovah, unto the wicked.
