¹And Jehovah said to me, Take thee a great tablet, and write thereon with a man's style, concerning Maher-shalal-hash-baz.

¹ خداوند به من گفت: «لوحی بزرگ بردار و با حروف درشت روی آن بنویس: 'غارت با شتاب و چپاول با شتاب واقع می‌شود.'

²And I took unto me to witness, sure witnesses, Urijah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.

² دو شخص مورد اعتماد -‌یکی اوریای کاهن و دیگری زکریا پسر یبرکیا- را با خود بیاور تا شاهد من باشند.»

³And I came near to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son; and Jehovah said unto me, Call his name, Maher-shalal-hash-baz.

³ همسرم بعد از مدّتی حامله شد. وقتی پسرمان به دنیا آمد، خداوند گفت: «اسم او را غارت سریع و چپاول با شتاب، بگذار.

⁴For before the lad knoweth to cry, My father! and, My mother! the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

⁴ قبل از اینکه این کودک بتواند پدر و مادر خود را صدا کند، پادشاه آشور تمام ثروت دمشق و تمام غنایم سامره را با خود خواهد برد.»

⁵And Jehovah spoke again to me, saying,

⁵ خداوند مرا بار دیگر خطاب کرده گفت:

⁶Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah which flow softly, and rejoiceth in Rezin and in the son of Remaliah,

⁶ «چون این مردم آبهای آرام شیلوه را ترک کردند و در حضور رصین پادشاه و پکاه پادشاه از ترس می‌لرزیدند،

⁷therefore behold, the Lord will bring up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, the king of Assyria and all his glory; and he shall mount up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:

⁷ من خداوند متعال، امپراتور آشور و تمام قوم او را برای حمله به یهودا خواهم آورد. آنها مثل سیلابهای رود فرات پیشروی می‌کنند و تمام سواحل آن را زیر آب می‌برند.

⁸and he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow it and go further, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel!

⁸ آنها مثل سیل سرتاسر یهودا را می‌شویند و همه‌چیز را زیر سیلابی که از سر و گردن آدمی عمیق‌تر است، غرق خواهند کرد.» خدا با ماست! بالهای گستردهٔ او زمین را محافظت خواهند کرد.

⁹Rage, ye peoples, and be broken in pieces! And give ear, all ye distant parts of the earth: Gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces!

⁹ ای تمامی ملّتها، با ترس با هم متّحد شوید. ای کسانی‌که در دورترین نقاط دنیا زندگی می‌کنید، بشنوید. برای کارزار آماده شوید. بترسید! امّا با ترس آماده شوید!

¹⁰Settle a plan, and it shall come to nought; speak a word, and it shall not stand: for ùGod is with us.

¹⁰ نقشه‌های خود را بکشید، -گرچه آنها باعث موفّقیّت شما نخواهند شد. هرچه می‌خواهید حرف بزنید، ولی همه بی‌فایده‌اند- چون خدا با ماست.

¹¹For Jehovah spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and he instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

¹¹ خداوند با قدرت عظیم خودش مرا آگاه ساخت که نباید به همان راه که قوم او رفته‌اند، بروم. او گفت

¹²Ye shall not say, Conspiracy, of everything of which this people saith, Conspiracy; and fear ye not their fear, and be not in dread.

¹² «در توطئه‌های قوم، شریک مشو، و از چیزهایی که آنها می‌ترسند، ترسان مباش.

¹³Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

¹³ به‌خاطر داشته باشید که من، خداوند متعال، خداوند قدّوس هستم، باید فقط از من بترسید.

¹⁴And he will be for a sanctuary; and for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

¹⁴ به‌خاطر قدّوسیّتم مانند دامی هستم که مردم روی آن لغزش می‌خورند.

¹⁵And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

¹⁵ بسیاری می‌افتند، آنها می‌افتند و لِه خواهند شد. آنها به دام خواهند افتاد.»

¹⁶Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

¹⁶ شما، ای شاگردان من، باید هوشیار باشید و پیامی را که خداوند به من داده است حفظ کنید.

¹⁷And I will wait for Jehovah, who hideth his face from the house of Jacob; and I will look for him.

¹⁷ خداوند خودش را از قومش پنهان کرده، امّا من به او اعتماد دارم و امید من در اوست.

¹⁸Behold, I and the children that Jehovah hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel, from Jehovah of hosts, who dwelleth in mount Zion.

¹⁸ من با فرزندانی هستم که خدا به من داده است. خداوند متعال، که بر تختش بر کوه صهیون استوار است، ما را به صورت پیامهای زنده‌ای برای قوم اسرائیل فرستاده است.

¹⁹And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto the necromancers and unto the soothsayers, who chirp and who mutter, [say,] Shall not a people seek unto their God? [Will they go] for the living unto the dead?

¹⁹ امّا مردم به شما خواهند گفت از فالگیرها و جادوگران، و از کسانی‌که مثل گنجشکان و گنگان سخن نامفهوم می‌گویند، برایشان پیامی بخواهید. آنها خواهند گفت: «بعد از همهٔ اینها، ما باید طالب پیامهایی از ارواح باشیم و از جانب زندگان، نظر مردگان را بخواهیم.»

²⁰To the law and the testimony! If they speak not according to this word, for them there is no daybreak.

²⁰ شما در پاسخ به آنها بگویید: «به آنچه خداوند به شما می‌آموزد گوش دهید، نه به واسطه‌ها. آنچه آنها می‌گویند برایتان سودی ندارد.»

²¹And they shall pass through it, hard pressed and hungry; and it shall come to pass when they are hungry, they will fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and will gaze upward:

²¹ مردم ناامید و گرسنه در تمام این سرزمین آواره خواهند شد. آنها در حال گرسنگی و از روی عصبانیّت هم به پادشاه و هم به خدای خود بد خواهند گفت. آنها چه به آسمان نگاه کنند و چه بر زمین، جز زحمت و تیرگی ترسناکی که در آن افتاده‌اند، چیز دیگری نمی‌بینند.

²²and they will look to the earth; and behold, trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they shall be driven into thick darkness.

²² و چه بر زمین، جز زحمت و تیرگی ترسناکی که در آن افتاده‌اند، چیز دیگری نمی‌بینند.
