¹The word of Jehovah that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the nations.

¹Slovo Hospodinovo, ktoré sa stalo k prorokovi Jeremiášovi o národoch.

²Of Egypt: concerning the army of Pharaoh-Necho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates at Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah.

²Čo do Egypťanov. O vojsku faraona Nécha, egyptského kráľa, ktoré bolo na rieke Eufrate v Karchemiši, ktoré porazil Nabuchodonozor, babylonský kráľ, štvrtého roku Jehojakima, syna Joziášovho, judského kráľa.

³Make ready buckler and shield, and draw near to battle!

³Pripravte štít a pavézu a pristúpte do boja!

⁴Harness the horses, and mount ye horsemen, and stand forth with helmets; polish the spears, put on the coats of mail!

⁴Priahajte kone a vysadajte, jazdcovia! Postavte sa v lebkách, očistite kopie, oblečte si panciere!

⁵Why do I see them dismayed, turned away back? And their mighty ones are beaten down, and take to flight, and look not back? Terror [is] on every side, saith Jehovah.

⁵Prečo ich vidím zdesených, ustupovať nazpät? A ich hrdinovia sú porazení, utekajú, čo len stačia, ani sa neobzrú! Strach všade naokolo! hovorí Hospodin.

⁶Let not the swift flee away, neither let the mighty man escape! -- Toward the north, hard by the river Euphrates, they have stumbled and fallen.

⁶Nech neutečie rýchly ani nech neunikne hrdina! Na sever pri rieke Eufrate zavadiac klesli a padli.

⁷Who is this [that] riseth up as the Nile, whose waters toss themselves like the rivers?

⁷Kto sa to valí hore jako veletok? Ktorého vody burácajú ako rieky?

⁸It is Egypt that riseth up as the Nile, and [his] waters toss themselves like the rivers; and he saith, I will rise up, I will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and the inhabitants thereof.

⁸Egypt sa valí hore jako veletok a jako rieky, keď burácajú ich vody. Povedal: Vyjdem hore, pokryjem zem, zahubím mesto i tých, ktorí bývajú v ňom.

⁹Go up, ye horses, and drive furiously, ye chariots; and let the mighty men go forth: Cush and Phut that handle the shield, and the Ludim that handle the bow [and] bend it.

⁹Nože, vyjdite hore, kone, a hrkocte, vozy! A nech vyjdú von hrdinovia, Ethiop a Pút, ktorí narábajú so štítom, a Lúdovia, ktorí pochytávajú a naťahujú lučište!

¹⁰For this is the day of the Lord Jehovah of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may be avenged of his adversaries; and the sword shall devour, and it shall be sated and made drunk with their blood; for the Lord Jehovah of hosts hath a sacrifice in the north country, by the river Euphrates.

¹⁰Ale ten deň je dňom Pána Hospodina Zástupov, dňom pomsty, aby sa pomstil na svojich protivníkoch, a bude žrať meč a nasýti sa a napojí sa ich krvi, lebo Pán Hospodin Zástupov má bitnú obeť v zemi severa, pri rieke Eufrate.

¹¹Go up to Gilead, and fetch balm, O virgin-daughter of Egypt! In vain shalt thou multiply remedies: there is no healing for thee.

¹¹Iď hore do Gileádu a naber balzamu, panno, dcéro Egypta! Nadarmo používaš mnohé lieky! Nieto tebe zacelenia!

¹²The nations have heard of thy shame, and thy cry hath filled the earth; for the mighty man stumbleth against the mighty, they are both fallen together.

¹²Národy počuly o tvojom zľahčení; zem je plná tvojho žalostného kriku, pretože hrdina sa potkol na hrdinu; padli spolu obidvaja.

¹³The word that Jehovah spoke to Jeremiah the prophet, concerning the coming of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon to smite the land of Egypt:

¹³Slovo, ktoré hovoril Hospodin prorokovi Jeremiášovi o tom, že prijde Nabuchodonozor, babylonský kráľ, zbiť Egyptskú zem.

¹⁴Declare in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, and publish in Noph, and in Tahpanhes; say, Stand fast, and prepare thee; for the sword devoureth round about thee.

¹⁴Oznámte v Egypte a vyhláste v Migdole a vyhláste i v Nofe i v Tachpanchese! Povedzte: Postav sa a priprav, lebo meč požerie, čo je vôkol teba.

¹⁵Why are thy valiants swept away? They stood not, for Jehovah did thrust them down.

¹⁵Prečo je každý tvoj mocný porazený? Neobstál, lebo ho sotil Hospodin.

¹⁶He made many to stumble, yea, one fell upon another; and they said, Arise, and let us return to our own people and to the land of our nativity, from the oppressing sword.

¹⁶Spôsobí to, aby klesli mnohí, aj budú padať druh na druha a povedia: Nože vstaň, a navráťme sa ku svojmu ľudu a do zeme, v ktorej sme sa zrodili pred násilným mečom.

¹⁷There did they cry, Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he hath let the time appointed go by.

¹⁷Tam budú volať: Faraon, egyptský kráľ, je porazený! Dal pominúť určenému času!

¹⁸[As] I live, saith the King, whose name is Jehovah of hosts, surely as Tabor among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.

¹⁸Jako že ja žijem, hovorí Kráľ, ktorého meno je Hospodin Zástupov, že jako je Tábor medzi vrchami a jako Karmel, tak iste prijde po mori.

¹⁹Thou, inhabitress, daughter of Egypt, furnish for thyself a captive's baggage, for Noph shall be a desolation and shall be ruined, so that none shall dwell therein.

¹⁹Priprav si potrebné veci prestehovať sa, obyvateľko, dcéro Egypta! Lebo Nof bude obrátené v pustinu a bude vypálené tak, že nebude obyvateľa.

²⁰Egypt is a very fair heifer; the gad-fly cometh, it cometh from the north.

²⁰Egypt je krásnou jalovicou; zkaza prijde od severa, prijde.

²¹Also her hired men in the midst of her are like fatted bullocks; for they also have turned back, they have fled away together, they did not stand; for the day of their calamity is come upon them, the time of their visitation.

²¹I jeho nájomníci v ňom sú jako vykŕmené teľce; ale aj tí sa obrátia, budú utekať všetci spolu, nezastanú; lebo prišiel na nich deň ich záhuby, čas ich navštívenia.

²²Her voice shall go like a serpent's; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood.

²²Jeho hlas bude, jako čo had ta ide, pretože pojdú s vojskom a prijdú naň so sekerami, jako tí, ktorí rúbu drevo.

²³They shall cut down her forest, saith Jehovah, though it be impenetrable; for they are more than the locusts, and are innumerable.

²³Vytnú jeho les, hovorí Hospodin, lebo ich nebude možné spočítať, pretože ich bude viac než kobyliek, ani im nebude počtu.

²⁴The daughter of Egypt is put to shame; she is delivered into the hand of the people of the north.

²⁴Hanbiť sa bude dcéra Egypta, bude vydaná do ruky ľudu severa.

²⁵Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saith, Behold, I will punish Amon of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, and her gods, and her kings; yea, Pharaoh and them that confide in him.

²⁵Hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, Bôh Izraelov: Hľa, navštívim Amona z No a navštívim hriech na faraonovi, na Egypte, na jeho bohoch, jeho kráľoch, na faraonovi i na tých, ktorí dúfajú v neho.

²⁶And I will give them into the hand of those that seek their life, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants; but afterwards it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old, saith Jehovah.

²⁶A vydám ich do ruky tých, ktorí hľadajú ich dušu, a do ruky Nabuchodonozora, babylonského kráľa, a do ruky jeho služobníkov, a potom bude obydlený jako za dávnych dní, hovorí Hospodin.

²⁷But thou, my servant Jacob, fear not, neither be dismayed, Israel: for behold, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make [him] afraid.

²⁷Ale ty sa neboj, môj služobníku, Jakobe, ani sa nedes, Izraelu! Lebo hľa, ja ťa zachránim z ďaleka i tvoje semä zo zeme ich zajatia. A Jakob sa navráti a bude mať pokoj a bude bezpečný, ani nebude nikoho, kto by prestrašil.

²⁸Fear thou not, my servant Jacob, saith Jehovah: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee, but I will not make a full end of thee; but I will correct thee with judgment, and I will not hold thee altogether guiltless.

²⁸Ty sa neboj, môj služobníku Jakobe, hovorí Hospodin, lebo ja som s tebou. Lebo učiním koniec všetkým národom, medzi ktorých som ťa zahnal, ale tebe neučiním konca, no, budem ťa karhať podľa súdu, a bez trestu ťa nenechám nijakým činom.
