¹In those days, there being again a great crowd, and they having nothing that they could eat, having called his disciples to [him], he says to them,

¹V tých dňoch, keď bol zase sídený veľký zástup, a nemali čo jesť, privolal si Ježiš svojich učeníkov a povedal im:

²I have compassion on the crowd, because they have stayed with me already three days and they have not anything they can eat,

²Ľúto mi je toho zástupu, lebo už tri dni dlejú so mnou a nemajú čo jesť.

³and if I should dismiss them to their home fasting, they will faint on the way; for some of them are come from far.

³A jestli ich domov prepustím hladných, poomdlievajú na ceste, lebo niektorí z nich prišli zďaleka.

⁴And his disciples answered him, Whence shall one be able to satisfy these with bread here in a desert place?

⁴A jeho učeníci mu odpovedali: Odkiaľ bude ktosi môcť týchto tu na pustine nasýtiť chlebom?

⁵And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

⁵A opýtal sa ich: Koľko chlebov máte? A oni povedali: Sedem.

⁶And he commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground. And having taken the seven loaves, he gave thanks, and broke [them] and gave [them] to his disciples, that they might set [them] before [them]; and they set [them] before the crowd.

⁶Vtedy rozkázal zástupu posadať si na zem. A vzal tých sedem chlebov a poďakujúc lámal a dával svojim učeníkom, aby predkladali, a kládli pred zástup.

⁷And they had a few small fishes, and having blessed them, he desired these also to be set before [them].

⁷A mali aj niekoľko rybičiek, a požehnajúc ich povedal, aby aj tie predkladali.

⁸And they ate and were satisfied. And they took up of fragments that remained seven baskets.

⁸A tak jedli a nasýtili sa a nasberali zvyšných kúskov sedem košov.

⁹And they [that had eaten] were about four thousand; and he sent them away.

⁹A tých, ktorí jedli, bolo okolo štyroch tisícov, a rozpustil ich.

¹⁰And immediately going on board ship with his disciples, he came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

¹⁰A hneď vošiel do lode so svojimi učeníkmi a prišiel do kraja Dalmanutha.

¹¹And the Pharisees went out and began to dispute against him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

¹¹A vyšli farizeovia a začali sa s ním dohadovať vyhľadávajúc od neho znamenie z neba, pokúšajúc ho.

¹²And groaning in his spirit, he says, Why does this generation seek a sign? Verily I say unto you, A sign shall in no wise be given to this generation.

¹²A zavzdýchnul vo svojom duchu a povedal: Čo toto pokolenie vyhľadáva jaké znamenie? Ameň vám hovorím, že tomuto pokoleniu nebude dané znamenie.

¹³And he left them, and going again on board ship, went away to the other side.

¹³A zanechajúc ich tam vošiel zase do lode a odišiel na druhú stranu.

¹⁴And they forgot to take bread, and save one loaf, they had not [any] with them in the ship.

¹⁴A zabudli vziať chleba a krome jedného chleba nemali viacej so sebou na lodi.

¹⁵And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and [of] the leaven of Herod.

¹⁵A prikazoval im a hovoril: Hľaďte, chráňte sa kvasu farizeov a kvasu Heródesovho!

¹⁶And they reasoned with one another, [saying], It is because we have no bread.

¹⁶Vtedy rozmýšľali medzi sebou, vraj chleba nemáme.

¹⁷And Jesus knowing [it], says to them, Why reason ye because ye have no bread? Do ye not yet perceive nor understand? Have ye your heart [yet] hardened?

¹⁷Ale keď to poznal Ježiš, povedal im: Čo to rozmýšľate, že nemáte chleba? Či ešte nechápete ani nerozumiete? Či ešte máte zatvrdnuté svoje srdce?

¹⁸Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

¹⁸Či majúc oči nevidíte a majúc uši nečujete? A či sa nepamätáte,

¹⁹When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many hand-baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say to him, Twelve.

¹⁹keď som tých päť chlebov lámal medzi tých päť tisíc, koľko plných košov kúskov ste nasberali? A povedali mu: Dvanásť.

²⁰And when the seven for the four thousand, the filling of how many baskets of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

²⁰A keď tých sedem medzi tie štyri tisíce, koľko plných pletencov kúskov ste nasberali? A povedali mu: Sedem.

²¹And he said to them, How do ye not yet understand?

²¹A riekol im: Či ešte nerozumiete?

²²And he comes to Bethsaida; and they bring him a blind man, and beseech him that he might touch him.

²²A prišli do Betsaidy. A doviedli mu slepého a prosili ho, žeby sa ho dotknul.

²³And taking hold of the hand of the blind man he led him forth out of the village, and having spit upon his eyes, he laid his hands upon him, and asked him if he beheld anything.

²³A chopiac ruku slepého vyviedol ho von z mestečka a keď napľul v jeho oči, vzložil na neho ruky a pýtal sa ho, či niečo vidí?

²⁴And having looked up, he said, I behold men, for I see [them], as trees, walking.

²⁴A slepý pozrel hore a povedal: Vidím ľudí; lebo ich vidím chodiť ako nejaké stromy.

²⁵Then he laid his hands again upon his eyes, and he saw distinctly, and was restored and saw all things clearly.

²⁵Potom zase položil ruky na jeho oči a kázal mu, aby pozrel hore. A tak bol uzdravený a videl všetko jasne a na ďaleko.

²⁶And he sent him to his house, saying, Neither enter into the village, nor tell [it] to any one in the village.

²⁶A poslal ho domov a povedal: Ani do toho mestečka nevojdi ani tam nikomu nepovedz o tom!

²⁷And Jesus went forth and his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea-Philippi. And by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Who do men say that I am?

²⁷Potom vyšiel Ježiš i jeho učeníci do mestečiek Cezáree Filipovej. A na ceste sa pýtal svojich učeníkov a riekol im: Čo hovoria ľudia o mne, že kto som ja?

²⁸And they answered him, saying, John the baptist; and others, Elias; but others, One of the prophets.

²⁸A oni mu odpovedali: Jedni hovoria, že si ty Ján Krstiteľ, iní, že Eliáš, a zase iní, že jeden z prorokov.

²⁹And he asked them, But *ye*, who do ye say that I am? And Peter answering says to him, *Thou* art the Christ.

²⁹A on sa ich opýtal: A vy čo hovoríte, že kto som ja? A Peter odpovedal a riekol mu: Ty si Kristus!

³⁰And he charged them straitly, in order that they should tell no man about him.

³⁰A prihrozil im, aby nikomu nehovorili o ňom.

³¹And he began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and of the chief priests and of the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise [again].

³¹Potom ich začal učiť, že Syn človeka musí mnoho pretrpieť a byť zavrhnutý od starších, od najvyšších kňazov a od zákonníkov a byť zabitý a po troch dňoch vstať z mŕtvych,

³²And he spoke the thing openly. And Peter, taking him to [him], began to rebuke him.

³²a otvorene hovoril to slovo. Vtedy si ho pojal Peter a začal ho karhať.

³³But he, turning round and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, saying, Get away behind me, Satan, for thy mind is not on the things that are of God, but on the things that are of men.

³³Ale on sa obrátil a vidiac svojich učeníkov pokarhal Petra a povedal: Idi za mnou, satane, lebo nemyslíš na Božie veci, ale na ľudské.

³⁴And having called the crowd with his disciples, he said to them, Whoever desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.

³⁴A privolajúc si k sebe zástup so svojimi učeníkmi a povedal im: Ak chce niekto prijsť za mnou, nech zaprie sám seba a nech vezme svoj kríž a ide za mnou.

³⁵For whosoever shall desire to save his life shall lose it, but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's shall save it.

³⁵Lebo ktokoľvek by chcel zachrániť svoju dušu, stratí ju, a kto by stratil svoju dušu pre mňa a pre evanjelium, ten ju zachráni.

³⁶For what shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul?

³⁶Lebo čo osoží človekovi, keby získal čo hneď i celý svet a svoju dušu utratil?

³⁷for what should a man give in exchange for his soul?

³⁷Lebo veď aké výmenné dá človek za svoju dušu?

³⁸For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him shall the Son of man also be ashamed when he shall come in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

³⁸Lebo ktokoľvek by sa hanbil za mňa a za moje slová v tomto pokolení cudzoložnom a hriešnom, za toho sa bude aj Syn človeka hanbiť, keď prijde v sláve svojeho Otca so svätými anjelmi.
