1Every one that believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten of God; and every one that loves him that has begotten loves also him that is begotten of him.
1Umwe neumwe unotenda kuti Jesu ndiye Kristu, wakaberekwa naMwari; umwe neumwe, unoda iye wakabereka unodawo wakaberekwa naye.
2Hereby know we that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.
2Ndizvo zvatinoziva nazvo kuti tinoda vana vaMwari, kana tichida Mwari, zvekare tichichengeta mirairo yake.
3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous.
3Nekuti urwu rudo rwaMwari, kuti tichengete mirairo yake; zvakare mirairo yake hairemi.
4For all that has been begotten of God gets the victory over the world; and this is the victory which has gotten the victory over the world, our faith.
4Nekuti chipi nechipi chinoberekwa naMwari chinokunda nyika; uku ndiko kukunda kunokunda nyika, iko rutendo rwedu.
5Who is he that gets the victory over the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
5Ndianiko unokunda nyika, kunze kwaiye unotenda kuti Jesu Kristu ndiye mwanakomana waMwari?
6This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus [the] Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, for the Spirit is the truth.
6ndiye wakavuya nemvura neropa, iye Jesu Kristu; kwete nemvura yoga, asi nemvura neropa. Zvakare Mweya ndiye unopupura nekuti Mweya ichokwadi
7For they that bear witness are three:
7Nekuti kune vatatu vanopupura kudenga, Baba, Shoko naMweya Mutsvene, ava vatatu ndimumwe.
8the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and the three agree in one.
8Uye kune vatatu vanopupura panyika, Mweya, mvura neropa ava vatatu vanotenderana pachinhu chimwe.
9If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater. For this is the witness of God [which] he has witnessed concerning his Son.
9Kana tichigamuchira uchapupu hwevanhu, uchapupu hwaMwari ukuru; nekuti uhwu ndihwo uchapupu hwaMwari ndihwo hwaakapupura pamusoro poMwanakomana wake.
10He that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself; he that does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness which God has witnessed concerning his Son.
10Uyo unotenda kuMwanakomana waMwari une uchapupu maari; usingatendi Mwari wakamuita murevi wenhema; nekuti haana kutenda uchapupu Mwari hwaakapupurira Mwanakomana wake.
11And this is the witness, that God has given to us eternal life; and this life is in his Son.
11Uhwu ndihwo uchapupu, kuti Mwari wakatipa upenyu hwusingaperi; zvino upenyu uhwu hwuri muMwanakomana wake.
12He that has the Son has life: he that has not the Son of God has not life.
12Uyo une Mwanakomana une upenyu; usina Mwanakomana waMwari haana upenyu.
13These things have I written to you that ye may know that ye have eternal life who believe on the name of the Son of God.
13Zvinhu izvi ndazvinyora kwamuri imwi munotenda kuzita roMwanakomanai waMwari kuti mugoziva kuti mune upenyu hwusingaperi uye kuti utende kuzita roMwanakomana waMwari.
14And this is the boldness which we have towards him, that if we ask him anything according to his will he hears us.
14Uhwu ndihwo ushingi hwatinahwo maari, kuti kana tichikumbira chinhu nekuda kwake, unotinzwa;
15And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.
15zvino kana tichiziva kuti unotinzwa pazvose zvatinokumbira, tinoziva kuti tapiwa zvichemo zvatakakumbira kwaari.
16If any one see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life, for those that do not sin unto death. There is a sin to death: I do not say of that that he should make a request.
16Kana munhu achiona hama yake ichitadza chivi chisati chiri cherufu, uchakumbira, iye agomupa upenyu hwunopiwa vasingaiti chivi cherufu. Chiripo chivi cherufu; handiti akumbire pamusoro pechichi.
17Every unrighteousness is sin; and there is a sin not to death.
17Kusarurama kose chivi; zvekare chivi chiripo chisati chiri cherufu.
18We know that every one begotten of God does not sin, but he that has been begotten of God keeps himself, and the wicked [one] does not touch him.
18Tinoziva kuti umwe neumwe wakaberekwa naMwari haatadzi; asi uyo wakaberekwa naMwari unozvichengeta, wakaipa uyo haangamubati.
19We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the wicked [one].
19Tinoziva kuti tiri vaMwari, nenyika yose ivete muzvakaipa.
20And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding that we should know him that [is] true; and we are in him that [is] true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
20Uye tinoziva kuti mwanakomana waMwari wakauya akatipa kunzwisisa, kuti tizive iye wechokwadi; nesu tiri munaiye wechokwadi mumwanakomana wake Jesu Kristu. Uyu ndiye Mwari wechokwadi, neupenyu hwusingaperi.
21Children, keep yourselves from idols.
21Vana vaduku, zvichengetedzei pazvifananidzo. Ameni.
