Exodus

20

1And God spoke all these words, saying,
1Zvino Mwari akataura mashoko awa ose, akati,
2I am Jehovah thy God, who have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
2Ndini Jehovha, Mwari wako, akakubvisa munyika yeEgipita, muimba yeuranda.
3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
3Usava nevamwe vamwari kunze kwangu.
4Thou shalt not make thyself any graven image, or any form of what is in the heavens above, or what is in the earth beneath, or what is in the waters under the earth:
4Usazviitira mufananidzo wakavezwa, kana uri mufananidzo wechinhu chiri kudenga kumusoro, kana wechiri panyika pasi, kana wechiri mumvura pasi penyika.
5thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them; for I, Jehovah thy God, am a jealous ùGod, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and to the fourth [generation] of them that hate me,
5Usapfugamira izvozvo, kana kuzvishumira; nekuti ini Jehovha, Mwari wako, ndiri Mwari ane godo; ndinorova vana nokuda kwezvivi zvamadzibaba avo, kusvikira kurudzi rwechitatu norwechina rwavanondivenga ;
6and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
6ndichaitira nyasha vane zviuru zvamazana vanondida, vanochengeta mirairo yangu.b
7Thou shalt not idly utter the name of Jehovah thy God; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that idly uttereth his name.
7Usareva zita raJehovha Mwari wako pasina; nekuti Jehovha haangaregi kupa mhosva anoreva zita rake pasina.
8Remember the sabbath day to hallow it.
8Rangarira zuva resabata, kuti urichengete rive dzvene.
9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work;
9Ubate mazuva matanhatu, uite mabasa ako ose;
10but the seventh day is the sabbath of Jehovah thy God: thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy bondman, nor thy handmaid, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.
10asi zuva rechinomwe isabata raJehovha Mwari wako; usatongobata mabasa naro, iwe, kana mwanakomana wako, kana mwanasikana wako, kana muranda wako, kana murandakadzi wako, kana zvipfuwo zvako, kana mweni wako ari mukati mamasuwo ako,
11For in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
11nekuti namazuva matanhatu Jehovha akaita denga napasi, negungwa, nezvose zviri mukati mazvo, akazorora nezuva rechinomwe; naizvozvo Jehovha akaropafadza zuva resabata akariita dzvene.
12Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be prolonged in the land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee.
12Kudza baba vako namai vako, kuti mazuva ako ave mazhinji panyika yaunopiwa naJehovha Mwari wako.
13Thou shalt not kill.

14Usaita upombwe.
15Thou shalt not steal.
15Usaba.
16Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
16Usapupurira wokwako nhema.
17Thou shalt not desire thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not desire thy neighbour's wife, nor his bondman, nor his handmaid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbour's.
17Usachiva imba yowokwako, usachiva mukadzi wowokwako, kana muranda wake, kana murandakadzi wake, kana nzombe yake, kana dhongi rake, kana chimwe chowokwako.
18And all the people saw the thunderings, and the flames, and the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw [it], they trembled, and stood afar off,
18Vanhu vose vakaona kutinhira, nemheni, nenzwi rehwamanda, negomo rinopfungaira, zvino vanhu vakati vachiona izvozvo, vakadedera vakamira kure.
19and said to Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
19Vakati kuna Mozisi, imwi chitaurai henyu nesu, tinzwe; asi Mwari ngaarege kutaura nesu, tirege kufa.
20And Moses said to the people, Fear not; for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before you, that ye sin not.
20Mozisi akati kuvanhu, Musatya henyu, nekuti Mwari akauya kuzokuidzai, kuti mugare muchimutya, murege kutadza.
21And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near to the obscurity where God was.
21Vanhu vakamira kure, Mozisi akaswedera kurima guru kwakanga kuna Mwari.
22And Jehovah said to Moses, Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel: Ye have seen that I have spoken with you from the heavens.
22Jehovha akati kuna Mozisi, Iti kuvana vaIsiraeri, imwi makaona mumene kuti ndakataura nemwi ndiri kudenga.
23Ye shall not make beside me gods of silver, and ye shall not make to you gods of gold.
23Musaita vamwe vamwari pamwechete neni; musazviitira vamwari vesirivha kana vamwari vendarama.
24An altar of earth shalt thou make unto me, and shalt sacrifice on it thy burnt-offerings, and thy peace-offerings, thy sheep and thine oxen: in all places where I shall make my name to be remembered, I will come unto thee, and bless thee.
24Undiitire aritari yevhu, ubayire pamusoro payo zvipiriso zvako zvinopiswa nezvipiriso zvako zvokuyananisa, namakwai ako nenzombe dzako; panzvimbo imwe neimwe pandicharangaridza zita rangu, ndichauyapo kwauri, ndichikuropafadza.
25And if thou make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone; for if thou lift up thy sharp tool upon it, thou hast profaned it.
25Zvino kana uchindivakira aritari yamabwe, urege kuivaka namabwe akavezwa, nekuti kana ukasimudzira mbezo yako pamusoro pebwe, warisvibisa.
26Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
26Rega kukwirawo kuaritari yangu nezvikwiriso, kuti kunyasi kwako kurege kufukurwa kwairi.
