John

5

1After these things was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
1Shure kwezvinhu izvi kwakava nemutambo wevaJudha; Jesu ndokukwira kuJerusarema.
2Now there is in Jerusalem, at the sheepgate, a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches.
2Zvino paJerusarema pedo nesuwo regwai pane dziva rinonzi Bhetisaidha nechiHebheru, rine maberere mashanu.
3In these lay a multitude of sick, blind, lame, withered, [awaiting the moving of the water.
3Mukati mawo makange muvete chaunga chikuru chevarwere, chemapofu, chezvirema, chevakawonyana, vakamirira kubvongodzwa kwemvura.
4For an angel descended at a certain season in the pool and troubled the water. Whoever therefore first went in after the troubling of the water became well, whatever disease he laboured under.]
4Nekuti mutumwa waiburukira pane imwe nguva mudziva iro, achibvongodza mvura; koti unoitanga kupinda shure kwekubvongodzwa kwemvura, waiporeswa, pachirwere chipi zvacho chaainge akabatwa nacho.
5But there was a certain man there who had been suffering under his infirmity thirty and eight years.
5Zvino kwaivapo umwe munhu waiva nemakore makumi matatu nemasere ane chifo.
6Jesus seeing this [man] lying [there], and knowing that he was [in that state] now a great length of time, says to him, Wouldest thou become well?
6Jesu wakati amuona avete, achiziva kuti ikozvino wakange ava nenguva refu, akati kwaari: Unoda kuporeswa here?
7The infirm [man] answered him, Sir, I have not a man, in order, when the water has been troubled, to cast me into the pool; but while I am coming another descends before me.
7Murwere akamupindura akati: Ishe, handina munhu unondikanda mudziva, kana mvura ichibvongodzwa; asi kana ini ndichiuya, umwe unoburukira mberi kwangu.
8Jesus says to him, Arise, take up thy couch and walk.
8Jesu akati kwaari: Simuka, simudza nhovo yako, ufambe.
9And immediately the man became well, and took up his couch and walked: and on that day was sabbath.
9Pakarepo munhu uyu akaporeswa, ndokusimudza nhovo yake akafamba. Zvino raiva sabata nemusi iwoyo.
10The Jews therefore said to the healed [man], It is sabbath, it is not permitted thee to take up thy couch.
10Naizvozvo vaJudha vakati kune wakaporeswa: Isabata; hazvisi pamutemo kuti utakure nhovo.
11He answered them, He that made me well, *he* said to me, Take up thy couch and walk.
11Akavapindura akati: Uyo wandiporesa, ndiye wati kwandiri: Simudza nhovo yako, ufambe.
12They asked him [therefore], Who is the man who said to thee, Take up thy couch and walk?
12Saka vakamubvunza vachiti: Ndiani munhu uyo wati kwauri: Simudza nhovo yako ufambe?
13But he that had been healed knew not who it was, for Jesus had slidden away, there being a crowd in the place.
13Zvino wakange aporeswa wakange asingazivi kuti ndiani; nekuti Jesu wakange asvova, zvakwaiva nechaunga panzvimbo iyoyo.
14After these things Jesus finds him in the temple, and said to him, Behold, thou art become well: sin no more, that something worse do not happen to thee.
14Shure kwezvinhu izvi Jesu akamuwana mutembere, akati kwaari: Tarira waporeswa; usatadzazve, zvimwe chimwe chakanyanya kuipa chingaitika kwauri.
15The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
15Munhu akabva, akaudza vaJudha kuti ndiJesu wakamuporesa.
16And for this the Jews persecuted Jesus [and sought to kill him], because he had done these things on sabbath.
16Zvino nekuda kweizvozvo vaJudha vakashusha Jesu, ndokutsvaka kumuuraya, nekuti wakaita zvinhu izvi nesabata.
17But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto and I work.
17Asi Jesu wakavapindura akati: Baba vangu vanoshanda kusvikira ikozvino, neni ndinoshanda.
18For this therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he had not only violated the sabbath, but also said that God was his own Father, making himself equal with God.
18Saka naizvozvo vaJudha vakanyanya kutsvaka kumuuraya, nekuti wakange asingadariki sabata chete, asi wakatiwo Mwari ndiBaba vake vomene, achizvienzanisa naMwari.
19Jesus therefore answered and said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, The Son can do nothing of himself save whatever he sees the Father doing: for whatever things *he* does, these things also the Son does in like manner.
19Zvino Jesu akapindura akati kwavari: Zvirokwazvo, zvirokwazvo, ndinoti kwamuri: Mwanakomana haagoni kuita pachake, kunze kwezvaanoona Baba vachichiita; nekuti chero zvavanoita, izvo ndizvowo saizvozvo Mwanakomanawo zvaanoita.
20For the Father loves the Son and shews him all things which he himself does; and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may wonder.
20Nekuti Baba vanoda Mwanakomana, uye vanomuratidza zvinhu zvose zvavanoita ivo; vachamuratidzawo mabasa makuru anopfuura awa, kuti imwi mushamisike.
21For even as the Father raises the dead and quickens [them], thus the Son also quickens whom he will:
21Nekuti Baba sezvavanomutsa vakafa vachivararamisa, saizvozvo Mwanakomana unoraramisawo vaanoda.
22for neither does the Father judge any one, but has given all judgment to the Son;
22Nekuti naBaba havatongi munhu, asi vakapa Mwanakomana kutonga kose;
23that all may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He who honours not the Son, honours not the Father who has sent him.
23kuti vose vakudze Mwanakomana sezvavanokudza Baba. Usingakudzi Mwanakomana, haakudzi Baba vakamutuma.
24Verily, verily, I say unto you, that he that hears my word, and believes him that has sent me, has life eternal, and does not come into judgment, but is passed out of death into life.
24Zvirokwazvo, zvirokwazvo, ndinoti kwamuri: Unonzwa shoko rangu, nekutenda kune wakandituma, une upenyu hwusingaperi; uye haasviki mukupiwa mhosva, asi wapfuura murufu akaenda muupenyu.
25Verily, verily, I say unto you, that an hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that have heard shall live.
25Zvirokwazvo, zvirokwazvo, ndinoti kwamuri: Awa rinouya, nazvino ravapo, apo vakafa vachanzwa inzwi reMwanakomana waMwari, uye vanonzwa vachararama.
26For even as the Father has life in himself, so he has given to the Son also to have life in himself,
26Nekuti Baba sezvavane upenyu mavari pachavo, saizvozvo vakapa kuMwanakomanawo kuti ave neupenyu maari pachake;
27and has given him authority to execute judgment [also], because he is Son of man.
27uye vakamupa simba rekutongawo, nekuti Mwanakomana wemunhu.
28Wonder not at this, for an hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs shall hear his voice,
28Musashamisika nezvizvi; nekuti awa rinouya, apo vose vari mumakuva vachanzwa inzwi rake,
29and shall go forth; those that have practised good, to resurrection of life, and those that have done evil, to resurrection of judgment.
29zvino vachabuda, avo vakaita zvakanaka, mukumuka kweupenyu; neavo vakaita zvakaipa, mukumuka kwekupiwa mhosva.
30I cannot do anything of myself; as I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous, because I do not seek my will, but the will of him that has sent me.
30Ini handigoni kuita chinhu pachangu; semanzwiro angu, ndinotonga; uye kutonga kwangu kwakarurama, nekuti handitsvaki chido changu, asi chido chaBaba vakandituma.
31If I bear witness concerning myself, my witness is not true.
31Kana ndichipupura nezvangu, uchapupu hwangu hahusi hwechokwadi.
32It is another who bears witness concerning me, and I know that the witness which he bears concerning me is true.
32Uripo umwe unopupura nezvangu; uye ndinoziva kuti uchapupu hwaanopupura nezvangu ndehwechokwadi
33Ye have sent unto John, and he has borne witness to the truth.
33Imwi makatumira kuna Johwani, uye akapupurira chokwadi.
34But I do not receive witness from man, but I say this that *ye* might be saved.
34Asi ini handigamuchiri uchapupu hunobva kumunhu, asi ndinoreva zvinhu izvi kuti imwi muponeswe.
35*He* was the burning and shining lamp, and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
35Iye wakange ari mwenje unopfuta neunovhenekera, nemwi makange muchishuva kufara kwazvo kwechinguvana muchiedza chake.
36But I have the witness [that is] greater than [that] of John; for the works which the Father has given me that I should complete them, the works themselves which I do, bear witness concerning me that the Father has sent me.
36Asi ini ndine uchapupu ukuru kune hwaJohwani; nekuti mabasa Baba avakandipa kuti ndimapedze, awa mabasa ini andinoita, anopupura nezvangu kuti Baba vakandituma.
37And the Father who has sent me himself has borne witness concerning me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor have seen his shape,
37NaBaba vakandituma, ivo vakapupura nezvangu. Hamuna chero nguva kunzwa inzwi rake, kana kuona chimiro chake.
38and ye have not his word abiding in you; for whom *he* hath sent, him ye do not believe.
38Uye hamuna shoko rake rinogara mamuri, nekuti iye waakatuma, uyu imwi hamuna kumutenda.
39Ye search the scriptures, for ye think that in them ye have life eternal, and they it is which bear witness concerning me;
39Nzverai magwaro, nekuti imwi munofunga kuti mune upenyu hwusingaperi maari, uye ndiwo anopupura nezvangu.
40and ye will not come to me that ye might have life.
40Asi hamudi kuuya kwandiri, kuti muve neupenyu.
41I do not receive glory from men,
41Handigamuchiri rukudzo kuvanhu;
42but I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
42asi ndinokuzivai imwi, kuti hamuna rudo rwaMwari mamuri.
43I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not; if another come in his own name, him ye will receive.
43Ini ndauya muzita raBaba vangu, asi hamuna kundigamuchira; kana umwe akauya muzita rake pachake, muchamugamuchira iye.
44How can ye believe, who receive glory one of another, and seek not the glory which [comes] from God alone?
44Munogona kutenda sei imwi munogamuchira rukudzo umwe kune umwe, asi musingatsvaki rukudzo rwunobva kuna Mwari oga?
45Think not that I will accuse you to the Father: there is [one] who accuses you, Moses, on whom ye trust;
45Musafunga kuti ini ndichakupai mhosva kuna Baba; uriko unokupai mhosva, ndiye Mozisi wamunovimba naye imwi.
46for if ye had believed Moses, ye would have believed me, for he wrote of me.
46Nekuti dai maitenda Mozisi, maitenda ini; nekuti iye wakanyora nezvangu.
47But if ye do not believe his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
47Asi kana musingatendi magwaro ake, muchatenda sei mashoko angu?
