2 Chronicles

10

1And Rehoboam went to Shechem; for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king.
1 Rehobowam koy Sekem zama Israyla kulu margu Sekem zama ngey m'a didiji bonkooni.
2And it came to pass when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard it (now he was in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of king Solomon) that Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.
2 Yerebowam Nebat izo maa baaro din (zama waato a go Misira, nango kaŋ a zuru Suleymanu se ka koy). Amma Yerebowam ye ka kaa ka fun Misira zama a corey
3And they sent and called him; and Jeroboam and all Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam saying,
4Thy father made our yoke grievous; and now lighten the grievous servitude of thy father, and his heavy yoke that he put upon us, and we will serve thee.
5And he said to them, Come again to me after three days. And the people departed.
5 A ne i se: «Ne ka guna jirbi hinza, araŋ ma ye ka kaa ay do.» Kala jama tun ka dira.
6And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, How do ye advise to return answer to this people?
6 Bonkoono Rehobowam binde na saaware ceeci arkusey do, ngey kaŋ yaŋ kay a baabo Suleymanu jine za a ga funa. A ne i se; «Saaware woofo dumi no araŋ g'ay no kaŋ ay ga tu d'a jama wo se?»
7And they spoke to him saying, If thou be kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be thy servants for ever.
7 I salaŋ a se ka ne: «Da ni na gomni cabe jama wo se, ka naŋ i ma maa kaani, ma baani sanni te i se mo, yaadin gaa kulu i ga ciya ni tamyaŋ hal abada.»
8But he forsook the advice of the old men which they had given him, and consulted with the young men, who had grown up with him, that stood before him.
A saaware nda arwasey kaŋ yaŋ nga nd'ey beeri care banda, kaŋ yaŋ goono ga kay a jine.
9And he said to them, What advice give ye that we may return answer to this people, who have spoken to me saying, Lighten the yoke which thy father put upon us?
9 A ne i se: «Saaware woofo dumi no araŋ ga no, zama iri ma du ka tu jama wo se kaŋ yaŋ salaŋ da ay ka ne ay se: ‹Ma rongome iri se da calo kaŋ ni baaba dake iri boŋ din gaa.› »
10And the young men that had grown up with him spoke to him saying, Thus shalt thou say to the people who have spoken to thee saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, and lighten thou it for us, -- thus shalt thou say to them: My little [finger] is thicker than my father's loins;
10 Arwasey kaŋ nga nd'ey beeri care banda ne a se: «Haŋ kaŋ ni ga tu d'a jama wo se, kaŋ salaŋ ni se ka ne: ‹Ni baaba na calu tiŋandi iri se, amma nin wo, kala ni m'a dogonandi iri se› -- yaa no ni ga tu d'a i se: ‹Ay kambayze koda bisa ay baaba canta warga yaŋ.
11and whereas my father laid a heavy yoke upon you, *I* will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but *I* [will chastise you] with scorpions.
12And Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed saying, Come again to me on the third day.
12 Yerebowam binde, nga nda jama kulu kaa Rehobowam do zaari hinzanta hane, sanda mate kaŋ cine bonkoono lordi, kaŋ a ne: «Zaari hinzanta hane araŋ ma ye ka kaa ay do.»
13And the king answered them roughly; and king Rehoboam forsook the advice of the old men,
13 Bonkoono tu i se da futay. Bonkoono Rehobowam binde na arkusey saawara furu,
14and spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but *I* will add to it; my father chastised you with whips, but *I* [will chastise you] with scorpions.
14 amma a salaŋ i se arwasey saawara boŋ ka ne: «Ay baaba na calu tiŋandi araŋ gaa, amma ay wo ga tonton a gaa. Ay baaba na araŋ gooji nda barzu, amma ay wo, daŋyaŋ no ay ga araŋ gooji nd'a.»
15So the king hearkened not to the people; for it was brought about by God, that Jehovah might give effect to his word, which he spoke through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
15 Bonkoono binde mana maa jama se, zama yaadin no Irikoy waadu, Rabbi ma nga sanno kaŋ a ci Yerebowam Nebat izo se Ahiya Silon bora me ra din tabbatandi.
16And all Israel saw that the king hearkened not to them; and the people answered the king saying, What portion have we in David? and [we have] no inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to your tents, O Israel. Now see to thine own house, David! And all Israel went to their tents.
16 Waato kaŋ Israyla kulu di kaŋ bonkoono mana maa ngey se, jama tu bonkoono se ka ne: «Baa woofo no iri se binde Dawda do? Iri sinda tubu fo mo Yasse izo do. Ya Israyla, boro fo kulu ma ye nga kwaara do!
17But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
17 Amma Israyla izey kaŋ yaŋ goono ga goro Yahuda galley ra ciine ra, Rehobowam n'i may.
18And king Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the levy; but the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. And king Rehoboam hastened to mount his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
18 Waato din gaa Bonkoono Rehobowam na Hadoram donton, nga kaŋ ga ti doole goyo jine funa. Israyla izey binde n'a catu-catu nda tondiyaŋ kal a bu.
19And Israel rebelled against the house of David, unto this day.
19 Yaadin cine no Israyla murte nd'a Dawda dumo gaa ka kaa hala hunkuna.
