¹Thus did Jehovah shew unto me; and behold, a basket of summer-fruit.

¹ Haŋ kaŋ Rabbi, Koy Beero cab'ay se neeya: Guna, cilla fo go kaŋ to da kaydiya nafa.

²And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer-fruit. And Jehovah said unto me, The end is come upon my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more.

² Kal a ne: «Amos, ifo no ni di?» Ay ne: «Cilla kaŋ to da kaydiya nafa no.» Kala Rabbi ne ay se: «Bananta kaa ay borey Israyla gaa. Ay si ye k'i yaafa koyne.

³And the songs of the palace shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord Jehovah. The dead bodies shall be many; in every place they shall be cast forth. Silence!

³ Zaari woodin ra sududuyaŋ windo dooney ga ye ka ciya wurru.» Yaadin no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci. «Buukoy baa, i go g'i furu-furu nangu kulu ka ne: ‹Wa dangay!› »

⁴Hear this, ye that pant after the needy, even to cause to fail the poor of the land,

⁴ Wa maa woone, ya araŋ kaŋ ga ba araŋ ma alfukaarey gon, Araŋ ma naŋ talkey kaŋ go laabo ra ma ban!

⁵saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat? making the ephah small and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances for deceit:

⁵ Araŋ goono ga ne: «Waatifo no handu tajo wo ga ban, Hal iri ma ntaasu neera? Asibti* mo ma ban hal iri ma alkama neesi? Iri ma muudo beera zabu ka nooro tonton, Iri ma goy da tangari nda gulinci neesiji,

⁶that we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; and that we may sell the refuse of the wheat.

⁶ Hal iri ma du daama iri ma talka day da nzarfu, Iri ma alfukaarey mo day taamu ce fo hay, Iri ma alkama duwo neera.»

⁷Jehovah hath sworn by the glory of Jacob, Certainly I will never forget any of their works.

⁷ Rabbi ze da Yakuba darza ka ne: Daahir ay si dinya baa afolloŋ i goyey ra, hal abada.

⁸Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? And it shall wholly rise up like the Nile; and it shall surge and sink down, as the river of Egypt.

⁸ Manti laabo ga jijiri woodin sabbay se? A ra gorokoy kulu mo ma te bine saray? Daahir, a ga tun me folloŋ sanda isa beero cine. A ga butugu ka ye ka kani koyne sanda Misira isa cine.

⁹And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord Jehovah, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the land in the clear day.

⁹ A ga ciya mo han din hane, Yaa no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci, «Ay ga naŋ wayna ma kaŋ za zaari bindi, Ay ma naŋ ndunnya ma te kubay za wayna go batama gaa.

¹⁰And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning for an only [son], and the end thereof as a bitter day.

¹⁰ Ay m'araŋ diina batey bare i ma te bu hẽeni, Araŋ dooney kulu mo ma ciya hẽeni. Ay ga bufu zaara daŋ ka daabu cante kulu gaa, Boŋ-tali mo ma bara boŋ kulu gaa. Ay ma naŋ a ma hima sanda bu baray ize folloŋ kaŋ go nga hayra se buuyaŋ sabbay se, Bananta mo ma ciya sanda zaari fotto.»

¹¹Behold, days come, saith the Lord Jehovah, when I will send a famine in the land; not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of Jehovah.

¹¹ Yaa no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci: «Guna, jirbiyaŋ goono ga kaa kaŋ ay ga haray samba laabo ra, Kaŋ manti ŋwaari haray no, manti mo hari jaw no, Amma Rabbi sanno maayaŋ wane no.

¹²And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north to the east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of Jehovah, and shall not find it.

¹² I ga dira ka bar-bare za teeko gaa ne kal a ma koy teeku fa gaa, Za azawa kambe kal a ma koy wayna funay haray. I ga zuru ne ka koy yongo Rabbi sanno ceeciyaŋ sabbay se, Amma i si du a.

¹³In that day shall the fair virgins and the young men faint for thirst;

¹³ Zaari woodin ra, Wandiyo sogey da arwasu gaabikooney ga yangala jaw sabbay se.

¹⁴they that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, [As] thy god, O Dan, liveth! and, [As] the way of Beer-sheba liveth! even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

¹⁴ Borey kaŋ yaŋ ga ze da Samariya zunubo, Da borey kaŋ yaŋ ga ne: ‹Ya nin Dan, ay ze da ni de-koyo fundo,› Da borey kaŋ yaŋ ga ne: ‹Ay ze da Beyer-Seba fonda _tooro|_,› -- Baa woodin yaŋ mo ga kaŋ. I si ye ka tun koyne, hal abada.»
