¹And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

¹ Rabbi sanno ye ka kaa ay do ka ne:

²What mean ye, ye who use this proverb of the land of Israel, saying, [The] fathers eat sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?

² Ifo no araŋ goono ga miila, kaŋ araŋ goono ga yaasay woone te Israyla laabo boŋ, araŋ goono ga ne: «Baabey na reyzin ize gani ŋwa, amma izey hinjey no ka bu.»

³[As] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, ye shall not have any more to use this proverb in Israel.

³ Ay ze d'ay fundo, ay, Rabbi, Koy Beero, araŋ si ye ka du kobay kaŋ ga woodin ci koyne Israyla ra.

⁴Behold, all the souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

⁴ Zama guna, fundey kulu ay wane yaŋ no. Mate kaŋ cine baaba fundi ya ay wane no, yaadin cine no ize fundi mo bara. Fundikooni kaŋ na zunubi te mo, nga no ga bu.

⁵And if a man be righteous, and do judgment and justice:

⁵ Amma da boro ya adilante no, A ga haŋ kaŋ ga saba da haŋ kaŋ ga halal goy te mo,

⁶-- he hath not eaten upon the mountains, nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, nor come near to a woman in her separation,

⁶ A mana ŋwa tudey boŋ, A mana adduwa te Israyla dumo toorey gaa, A mana nga gorokasin wande ceeci, A mana maan wayboro a ziibi diyaŋ waate,

⁷and hath not oppressed any; he hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath not exercised robbery, hath given his bread to the hungry, and covered the naked with a garment;

⁸he hath not given forth upon usury, nor taken increase; he hath withdrawn his hand from unrighteousness, hath executed true judgment between man and man,

⁸ A mana nooru nda hari daŋ, A mana tontoni ta mo, A na nga kambe hibandi ka fay da goy laalo teeyaŋ, A ga cimi ciiti te boro nda care game ra,

⁹hath walked in my statutes, and kept mine ordinances, to deal faithfully: he is righteous, he shall certainly live, saith the Lord Jehovah.

⁹ A na ay hin sanney gana, A haggoy d'ay farilley zama nga ma cimi goy te se -- boro woodin no ga ti adilante. Haciika a ga funa. Yaadin no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci.

¹⁰And if he have begotten a son that is violent, a shedder of blood, and that doeth only one of any of these [things],

¹⁰ D'a na ize hay kaŋ ciya toonyante, kaŋ ga boro wi, kaŋ ga goyey din kulu dumi te mo nga nya-ize se,

¹¹and that doeth not any of those [duties], but also hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,

¹²hath oppressed the poor and needy, exercised robbery, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, committed abomination,

¹³given forth upon usury, and taken increase; shall he then live? He shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall certainly die; his blood shall be upon him.

¹³ A ga garaw daŋ, nooru nda hari, A ga tontoni ta dake boŋ -- Ize woodin ga funa, wala? Abada, a si funa! A na fanta hari woodin yaŋ kulu te, haciika a ga bu no, a kuro alhakko go a boŋ.

¹⁴But lo, if he have begotten a son that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like:

¹⁴ Ma guna me. Da nga mo na ize hay kaŋ di zunubi kulu kaŋ nga baabo te, hala mo a humburu, a si goy woodin yaŋ dumey te,

¹⁵-- he hath not eaten upon the mountains, nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel; he hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,

¹⁵ A si ŋwa tudey boŋ, A si sududu Israyla dumo toorey se, A si nga gorokasin wande ceeci,

¹⁶and hath not oppressed any, nor withholden the pledge, neither hath exercised robbery; he hath given his bread to the hungry, and covered the naked with a garment;

¹⁶ A si boro kulu kankam, A si tolme kulu gaay, a si kom, Amma a ga harayzey no nga ŋwaaro gaa, A ga banjikom daabu nda bankaaray,

¹⁷he hath withdrawn his hand from the poor, hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, [and] walked in my statutes: he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall certainly live.

¹⁷ A si alfukaarey kankam, A si nooru nda hari daŋ, wala tontoni, A g'ay farilley te, a g'ay hin sanney gana mo -- bora si bu baabo zunubey sabbay se. Haciika a ga funa no.

¹⁸As for his father, because he practised oppression, exercised robbery upon his brother, and did what was not good among his people, behold, he shall die in his iniquity.

¹⁸ Amma a baabo sanni, za kaŋ a kom da bine korno, a na nga nya-izey jinay ku, a na goy kaŋ si boori yaŋ te nga jama ra, a go, a ga bu nga taalo sabbay se.

¹⁹And ye say, Why doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? But the son hath done judgment and justice, hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them; he shall certainly live.

¹⁹ Amma araŋ ne: «Ifo se no ize si baaba alhakku sambu?» To, sabaabo ga ti: hala day ize na haŋ kaŋ ga saba nda haŋ kaŋ ga halal te, a n'ay hin sanney kulu haggoy, a n'i goy mo, haciika a ga funa.

²⁰The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

²⁰ Bora kaŋ na zunubi te din, nga no ga bu. Ize si nga baaba taali alhakku sambu, baaba mo si nga ize wane sambu. Adilante adilitara, nga bumbo boŋ no a go. Laalakoy mo, a laalayaŋo go a boŋ.

²¹And the wicked, if he turn from all his sins which he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do judgment and justice, he shall certainly live, he shall not die.

²²None of his transgressions which he hath committed shall be remembered against him; in his righteousness which he hath done shall he live.

²³Have I any pleasure at all in the death of the wicked? saith the Lord Jehovah; is it not in his turning from his way, that he may live?

²³ Yaa no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci: Ay wo ga maa boro laalo buuyaŋ kaani no? Manti ay se dambe a ma bare ka fay da nga muraadey hal a ma funa?

²⁴And when the righteous turneth from his righteousness and practiseth what is wrong, [and] doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked doeth, shall he live? None of his righteous acts which he hath done shall be remembered: in his unfaithfulness which he hath wrought, and in his sin which he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

²⁵And ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear then, house of Israel. Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?

²⁵ Amma araŋ ne: «Koy Beero fonda mana saba!» Ya Israyla dumo, wa maa: Ay fonda no mana saba, wala araŋ fondey no mana saba?

²⁶When the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and practiseth what is wrong, and dieth for it; in his wrong that he hath done shall he die.

²⁶ Waati kaŋ boro adilante bare ka fay da nga adilitara, a goono ga adilitaray-jaŋay te, hal a bu a ra mo -- a laala kaŋ a goy din se no a bu.

²⁷And when the wicked turneth from his wickedness which he hath committed, and doeth judgment and justice, he shall keep his soul alive.

²⁷ Hala mo a ciya boro laalo bare ka fay da nga laala kaŋ a goy din, a go ga haŋ kaŋ ga saba da haŋ kaŋ ga halal te, a ga yana nda nga fundo.

²⁸Because he considereth, and turneth from all his transgressions which he hath committed, he shall certainly live, he shall not die.

²⁸ Za kaŋ a goono ga laakal ye, a goono mo ga bare ka fay da taali kulu kaŋ nga te, haciika a ga funa, a si bu bo.

²⁹But the house of Israel say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? Is it not your ways that are unequal?

²⁹ Amma kulu nda yaadin Israyla dumo goono ga ne: «Koy Beero fonda si saba!» Ya Israyla dumo, ay fondey no si saba? Wala araŋ waney no si saba?

³⁰Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord Jehovah. Return ye, and turn from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your snare.

³⁰ Woodin sabbay se, ya Israyla dumo, ay ga ciiti dumbu araŋ se fa, boro fo kulu nga muraado boŋ. Yaadin no Rabbi Irikoy ci! Wa tuubi ka bare ka fay d'araŋ taaley kulu, yaadin gaa no laala si ciya araŋ halaciyaŋ sabaabu.

³¹Cast away from you all your transgressions wherewith ye have transgressed, and make you a new heart and a new spirit: why then will ye die, house of Israel?

³¹ W'araŋ taaley kulu kaŋ araŋ te furu. Wa te bine taji nda biya taji, zama ifo se no araŋ ga buuyaŋ ceeci, ya Israyla dumo?

³²For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord Jehovah; therefore turn ye and live.

³² Zama boro kulu buuyaŋ si kaan ay se. Araŋ ma tuubi fa, ka funa! Yaadin no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci.
