¹And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth [month], the tenth of the month, [that] certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Jehovah, and they sat before me.

²And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

² Rabbi sanno mo kaa ay do ka ne:

³Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Are ye come to inquire of me? [As] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you.

³ Boro izo, ma salaŋ Israyla arkusey din se ka ne: Yaa no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci: Araŋ kaa ka saaware ceeci ay do no, wala? Ay ze d'ay fundo, ay, Rabbi, Koy Beero, ay si saaware d'araŋ.

⁴Wilt thou judge them, wilt thou judge, son of man? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers,

⁴ Ni g'i ciiti no, boro izo, ni g'i ciiti, wala? M'i bayrandi nd'i kaayey fanta goyey!

⁵and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up my hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up my hand unto them, saying, I [am] Jehovah your God,

⁵ Ni ma ne i se mo: Yaa no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci: Hano kaŋ hane ay na Israyla suuban, ay ze Yakuba dumo banda se, ay n'ay boŋ bayrandi i se Misira laabo ra, waato kaŋ ay ze i se ka ne: «Ay no ga ti Rabbi araŋ Irikoyo.»

⁶in that day I lifted up my hand unto them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the ornament of all lands;

⁶ Han din hane ay ze i se, ay ne ay g'i kaa Misira laabo ra, ya kand'ey laabo kaŋ ay suuban i se din ra, laabu no kaŋ ga wa da yu bambari, laabu darzante mo no laabey kulu ra.

⁷and I said unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I [am] Jehovah your God.

⁷ Ay ne i se mo: Araŋ boro fo kulu ma fanta jinayey kaŋ ga kaan araŋ se din furu. Wa si araŋ boŋ ziibandi nda Misira toorey. Ay no ga ti Rabbi araŋ Irikoyo.

⁸But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: none of them cast away the abominations of his eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I thought to pour out my fury upon them, so as to accomplish mine anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

⁸ Amma i murte ay gaa, i wangu ka hangan ay se mo. I kulu mana fanta harey kaŋ ga kaan ngey se din furu, i mana fay da Misira toorey mo. Kal ay mo ne ay g'ay futa gusam i boŋ, y'ay futa toonandi i boŋ noodin Misira bindo ra.

⁹But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they were, in whose sight I had made myself known unto them in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

⁹ Amma haya kaŋ ay te din, ay maa beera sabbay se no ay n'a te, zama i ma s'a ziibandi dumi cindey jine, kaŋ ra Israyla bara ga goro. Dumi cindey din jine no ay n'ay boŋ cabe Israyla se, waato kaŋ ay n'i kaa Misira laabo ra.

¹⁰And I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.

¹⁰ Ay binde n'i kaa Misira laabo ra ka kand'ey saajo ra.

¹¹And I gave them my statutes, and made known unto them mine ordinances, which if a man do, he shall live by them.

¹¹ Ay n'ay hin sanney no i se, ay n'i bayrandi nd'ay farilley, kaŋ da boro n'i haggoy a ga funa i do.

¹²And I also gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I [am] Jehovah that hallow them.

¹² Ay n'i no ay asibtey* mo, i ma ciya seeda in d'ey game ra, zama i ma bay kaŋ ay no ga ti Rabbi kaŋ g'i hanandi.

¹³But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they rejected mine ordinances, which if a man do, he shall live by them; and my sabbaths they greatly profaned: and I said I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

¹⁴But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out.

¹⁴ Amma haŋ kaŋ ay te din, ay maa beera sabbay se no ay n'a te, i ma s'a ziibandi dumi cindey jine, ngey kaŋ di waati kaŋ cine ay na Israyla kaa taray.

¹⁵And I also lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land that I had given [them], flowing with milk and honey, which is the ornament of all lands;

¹⁵ Ay ze i se mo saajo ra ka ne ay si kand'ey laabo kaŋ ay n'i no din ra, laabu no kaŋ ga wa da yu bambari, laabu darzante mo no laabey kulu ra.

¹⁶because they rejected mine ordinances and walked not in my statutes, and profaned my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

¹⁶ Zama i wangu ay farilley, i mana ay hin sanney gana mo. I n'ay asibtey ziibandi, zama i biney go i toorey banda duumi.

¹⁷But mine eye spared them so as not to destroy them, neither did I make a full end of them in the wilderness.

¹⁷ Kulu nda yaadin, ay n'i guna da bakaraw, ay ma s'i halaci ka ban se. Ay mana i kulu ban mo parkatak, noodin saajo ra.

¹⁸And I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk not in the statutes of your fathers, neither keep their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

¹⁸ Noodin saajo ra mo ay ne i izey se: Wa s'araŋ baabey hin sanney gana, araŋ ma si i farilley haggoy, araŋ ma s'araŋ boŋ ziibandi nd'i toorey mo.

¹⁹I [am] Jehovah your God: walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them;

¹⁹ Ay no ga ti Rabbi araŋ Irikoyo. W'ay hin sanney gana, k'ay farilley gana, k'i goy mo.

²⁰and hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I [am] Jehovah your God.

²⁰ Araŋ m'ay asibtey hanandi mo. I ga ciya seeda in d'araŋ game ra, zama araŋ ma bay kaŋ ay no ga ti Rabbi araŋ Irikoyo.

²¹And the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept mine ordinances to do them, which if a man do, he shall live by them; they profaned my sabbaths: and I said I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish mine anger against them in the wilderness.

²¹ Amma izey, ngey mo murte ay gaa. I mana ay hin sanney gana, i mana haggoy d'ay farilley zama ngey m'i goy se, kaŋ yaŋ da boro n'i haggoy a ga funa i do. I n'ay asibtey ziibandi. Waato din gaa no ay ne ay g'ay futa gusam i boŋ, y'ay futay korna goyo toonandi i boŋ noodin saajo ra.

²²But I withdrew my hand, and wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out.

²² Kulu nda yaadin ay n'ay kamba candi, k'ay maa beera saal, hal ay maa ma si hasara dumi cindey jine, ngey kaŋ di waato kaŋ ay na Israyla kaa taray.

²³I lifted up my hand also unto them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations, and disperse them through the countries;

²³ Ay ze i se mo noodin saajo ra, ka ne ay g'i say-say dumi cindey game ra, ay m'i fay-fay laabey ra.

²⁴because they performed not mine ordinances, and rejected my statutes, and profaned my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols.

²⁴ Zama i mana ay farilley goy, amma i wangu ay hin sanney, i n'ay asibtey ziibandi, i go ga miila ngey baabey toorey do haray mo.

²⁵And I also gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances whereby they should not live;

²⁵ Hal ay n'i no hin sanniyaŋ kaŋ si boori, da farillayaŋ kaŋ i si hin ka funa i do.

²⁶and I defiled them by their own gifts, in that they devoted all that opened the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I [am] Jehovah.

²⁶ Ay n'i harram mo i sargayey kaŋ i goono ga kande do haray. Zama i na ngey hay-jiney kulu daŋ danji ra, zama ay m'i mursandi, i ma bay mo kaŋ ay no ga ti Rabbi.

²⁷Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In this moreover have your fathers blasphemed me, in that they have wrought unfaithfulness against me.

²⁷ Ni binde, boro izo, kala ni ma salaŋ Israyla dumo se ka ne i se: Yaa no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci: Araŋ kaayey n'ay kayna, mate kaŋ cine i n'ay amaana ŋwaayaŋo te d'a.

²⁸When I had brought them into the land which I had lifted up my hand to give unto them, then they saw every high hill and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering; and there they placed their sweet savour, and there poured out their drink-offerings.

²⁸ Zama waato kaŋ ay kand'ey laabo kaŋ ay ze d'a i se ka ne ay g'i no nd'a din ra, kal i na tudu kuuku kulu da tuuri-nya kulu kaŋ gonda bi guna. Noodin yaŋ no i soobay ka konda ngey sargayey. Noodin yaŋ no i n'ay yanje ceeci da ngey sargayey. Noodin yaŋ mo no i na ngey dugu kaŋ haw ga kaan ton, i na ngey haŋyaŋ sargayey mo soogu.

²⁹And I said unto them, What is the high place whither ye go? And the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day.

²⁹ Kal ay ne i se: Ifo no ga ti tudu boŋ sududuyaŋ haro wo sabaabu, nango kaŋ araŋ goono ga miila? I binde ga ne a se Bama (sanda Tudu boŋ nooya,) hala hunkuna.

³⁰Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Do ye defile yourselves after the manner of your fathers? and do ye commit fornication after their abominations?

³⁰ Woodin sabbay se no ni ma ne Israyla dumo se: Yaa no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci: Araŋ g'araŋ boŋ ziibandi araŋ kaayey alaadey boŋ, wala? Araŋ g'i fanta harey gana ka kazaamataray te no?

³¹And when ye offer your gifts, making your sons to pass through the fire, ye defile yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day; and shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? [As] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you.

³¹ D'araŋ ga kande araŋ nooyaŋey, araŋ go g'araŋ ize arey daŋ danji ra mo, araŋ go g'araŋ boŋ ziibandi nda araŋ toorey hala ka kaa sohõ -- araŋ ga hin ka ceeci ay gaa, wala, ya Israyla dumo? Ay ze d'ay fundo, ay, Rabbi, Koy Beero, ay si ta araŋ ma ceeci ay gaa.

³²And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, in serving wood and stone.

³² Haŋ kaŋ araŋ goono ga tammahã mo, a si te baa kayna. Zama araŋ goono ga ne: «Iri wo, kal iri ma ciya sanda ndunnya dumi cindey cine, sanda laabey ra borey cine yaŋ, iri ma may tuuri nda tondi se.»

³³[As] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, verily with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, will I reign over you.

³³ Ay ze d'ay fundo, ay, Rabbi, Koy Beero, haciika ay g'araŋ may da kambe hinkoy, d'ay kambe gaabi sallanta, da futay toonante mo, peet!

³⁴And I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out;

³⁴ Ay g'araŋ kaa taray ka fun dumi cindey game ra, ya araŋ margu mo ka fun d'araŋ laabey ra, nangey kaŋ araŋ go say-sayante din. Ay g'a te da kambe hinkoy, da kambe gaabi sallante, da futay toonante mo, peet!

³⁵and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there will I enter into judgment with you face to face.

³⁵ Ay ga kande araŋ ndunnya dumey saajo ra mo. Noodin no ay ga ciiti araŋ se mo-da-mo.

³⁶Like as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I enter into judgment with you, saith the Lord Jehovah.

³⁶ Sanda mate kaŋ cine ay ciiti d'araŋ kaayey Misira laabu saajo ra, yaadin cine no ay ga te araŋ mo se. Yaadin no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci.

³⁷And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.

³⁷ Ay ga naŋ araŋ ma gana hawji goobu cire, ya araŋ daŋ alkawli sambuyaŋ ra.

³⁸And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me; I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah.

³⁸ Ya araŋ hagay ka turantey da borey kaŋ yaŋ n'ay asariya taamu din kaa araŋ game ra. Ay g'i kaa waani, i ma fay da laabo kaŋ ra i goono ga goro, amma i si furo Israyla laabo ra bo. Yaadin cine gaa no araŋ ga bay kaŋ ay no ga ti Rabbi.

³⁹As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Go ye, serve every one his idols henceforth also, if none of you will hearken unto me; but profane my holy name no more with your gifts and with your idols.

³⁹ Araŋ ciine ra mo, ya Israyla dumo, wa maa haŋ kaŋ Rabbi, Koy Beero ci. A ne: Wa koy, araŋ kulu! Araŋ ma soobay ka may araŋ toorey se, amma kokor banda haciika araŋ ga ye ka hangan ay se. Amma araŋ si ye k'ay maa hanna ziibandi d'araŋ nooyaŋey, d'araŋ toorey mo!

⁴⁰For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah, there shall all the house of Israel serve me, the whole of it, in the land; there will I accept them, and there will I require your heave-offerings and the first-fruits of your offerings, with all your holy things.

⁴⁰ Yaa no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci: Zama ay tondi kuuku hananta boŋ, Israyla tondi kuuko nooya, Israyla dumo kulu, i tooyaŋo kulu, noodin no i ga may ay se laabo din ra. Noodin no ay g'i ta. Noodin mo no ay g'araŋ sargayey ceeci, d'araŋ nooyaŋey, boŋ-jina waney, d'araŋ saajaw hananta kulu care banda.

⁴¹As a sweet savour will I accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you in the sight of the nations.

⁴¹ Ay g'araŋ ta danga haw kaano, waati kaŋ ay n'araŋ kaa dumi cindey game ra, ay n'araŋ margu ka fun d'araŋ laabey ra, nangey kaŋ ay n'araŋ say-say. Yaadin gaa no ay ga hanan araŋ do dumi cindey jine.

⁴²And ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah, when I have brought you into the land of Israel, into the country which I lifted up my hand to give to your fathers.

⁴² Araŋ ga bay mo kaŋ ay no ga ti Rabbi, waati kaŋ ay kande araŋ Israyla laabo ra, laabo kaŋ ay ze d'a ka ne ay ga araŋ kaayey no nd'a.

⁴³And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils which ye have committed.

⁴³ Noodin no araŋ ga fongu araŋ muraadey d'araŋ goyey kulu gaa, mate kaŋ araŋ n'araŋ boŋ ziibandi. Araŋ g'araŋ boŋ fanta araŋ boŋ se, goy laaley kulu kaŋ araŋ te sabbay se.

⁴⁴And ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah, when I have wrought with you for my name's sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah.

⁴⁴ Araŋ ga bay mo kaŋ ay no ga ti Rabbi, waati kaŋ ay te d'araŋ ay maa beera sabbay se. Manti araŋ muraadu laaley boŋ bo, manti mo araŋ goy fumbey boŋ, ya Israyla dumo. Yaadin no Rabbi, Koy Beero ci.

⁴⁵And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

⁴⁶Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop [words] against the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field;

⁴⁷and say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of Jehovah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flashing flame shall not be quenched; and all that it meets from the south to the north shall be burned thereby.

⁴⁸And all flesh shall see that I Jehovah have kindled it: it shall not be quenched.

⁴⁹And I said, Ah, Lord Jehovah! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?
