1The word of Jehovah that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.
1 Rabbi sanno kaŋ kaa Irimiya do koogay boŋ neeya:
2Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish, they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem goeth up.
2 Yahuda goono ga bu baray te, A birni me daabirjey goono ga sooli. Borey go ganda ga goro nda bankaaray bi yaŋ. Urusalima hẽeno ziji.
3And their nobles send their little ones for water: they come to the pits, they find no water; they return with their vessels empty; they are ashamed, they are confounded, and have covered their heads.
3 I boro beerey n'i talkey donton i ma hari guru ka kande. I kaa dayey do, i mana du hari. I ye da ngey foobu kooney. Haawi n'i di, i kankam, i na ngey boŋey bangum.
4Because the ground is chapt, for there hath been no rain on the earth, the ploughmen are ashamed, they cover their heads.
4 Zama laabo waaru, kaŋ beene hari mana kaŋ laabo din ra. Alfarey mo, haawi n'i di, I na ngey boŋey bangum.
5For the hind also calveth in the field, and forsaketh [its young], because there is no grass.
5 Oho, jeeri kaŋ go fari ra hay, A na nga izo furu, zama subu si no.
6And the wild asses stand on the heights, they snuff up the wind like jackals; their eyes fail, because there is no herbage.
I moy ga kayna, zama subu kulu si no.
7Jehovah, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou act for thy name's sake; for our backslidings are many -- we have sinned against thee.
Zama daahir iri banda yeyaŋo ga baa gumo. Iri na zunubi te ni se.
8Thou hope of Israel, its Saviour in the time of trouble, why wilt thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a traveller that turneth aside to stay a night?
8 Ya nin, Israyla beeja, Kaŋ g'a faaba taabi alwaato ra, Ifo se no ni ga ciya sanda yaw laabo ra, Sanda naaruko kaŋ ga nga bukka sinji cin folloŋ se?
9Why wilt thou be as a man astonished, as a mighty man that cannot save? Yet thou, Jehovah, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name: leave us not.
9 Ifo se no ni ga ciya sanda boro kaŋ alyanga n'a di, Sanda boro gaabikooni kaŋ si hin ka faaba? Amma ni go iri game ra. I g'iri ce mo nda ni maa, Ya Rabbi, ma si iri furu!
10Thus saith Jehovah to this people: Even so have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet; and Jehovah hath no delight in them: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
10 Yaa no Rabbi ci dumi woone wo se: Yaadin cine no i ga ba ngey ma kamba. I mana ngey cey gaay.
11And Jehovah said unto me, Pray not for this people for their good.
12When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer up burnt-offering and oblation, I will not accept them: for I will consume them by sword, and by famine, and by pestilence.
12 D'i mehaw, ay si maa i hẽeno. D'i kande sargay kaŋ i ga ton, da ŋwaari sargayey, ay s'i ta. Amma ay g'i halaci nda takuba, da haray, da balaaw.
13And I said, Alas, Lord Jehovah! Behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; for I will give you assured peace in this place.
13 Kal ay ne: «Ay, ya Rabbi, Koy Beero! Guna, annabey go ga ne i se: ‹Araŋ si di takuba, araŋ si haray mo, amma ay g'araŋ no laakal kanay tabbatante nango wo ra.› »
14And Jehovah said unto me, The prophets prophesy falsehood in my name; I have not sent them, neither have I commanded them, nor spoken unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision, and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.
Ay man'i donton, ay man'i lordi mo, ay mana baa salaŋ i se.
15Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, and who say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and by famine shall those prophets be consumed;
15 Woodin se no Rabbi salaŋ annabey boŋ kaŋ yaŋ goono ga annabitaray te da nga maa, a mana i donton mo -- kulu nda yaadin i goono ga ne kaŋ borey si di takuba wala haray laabo woone ra -- amma takuba nda haray no i ga annabey din halaci nd'a.
16and the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, because of the famine and the sword; and there shall be none to bury them, them, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters; and I will pour their wickedness upon them.
16 Borey kaŋ yaŋ se i goono ga annabitaray te mo, i g'i furu Urusalima fondey gaa, borey kaŋ takuba nda haray ga wi. I si du fijiko, ngey nda ngey wandey d'i ize arey da ize wayey, zama ngey bumbey laala no ay ga gusam i boŋ.
17And thou shalt say this word unto them: Let mine eyes run down with tears, night and day, and not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
17 Ni binde ma sanni woone ci i se: Ay moy ma mundi dooru cin da zaari, i ma si naŋ. Zama ay wane jama ize wandiya ceeri nda kortimi bambata, Da bi kaŋ ga dooru gumo-gumo.
18If I go forth into the field, behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, behold them that pine away with famine! For both prophet and priest shall go about into a land that they know not.
D'ay furo kwaara ra mo, A go, wiiza haray taabi go no! Zama annabey da alfagey kulu dira ka koy laabu fo kaŋ i s'a bay do.
19-- Hast thou then utterly rejected Judah? Doth thy soul loathe Zion? Why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? Peace is looked for, and there is no good, -- and a time of healing, and behold terror!
19 Ni wangu Yahuda no parkatak? Ni fundo ga Sihiyona fanta no? Ifo se no ni n'iri kar, Iri yayandiyaŋ mo si no? Iri na laakal kanay ceeci, amma gomni fo kulu mana kaa. Iri na yayandiyaŋ alwaati ceeci, Amma kala bine patiyaŋ kaŋ go no!
20Jehovah, we acknowledge our wickedness, the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee.
21For thy name's sake, do not spurn [us], do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
22Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? Art not thou HE, Jehovah, our God? And we wait upon thee; for thou hast made all these things.
22 Dumi cindey toorey ra, i gonda wo kaŋ ga hin ka naŋ beene hari ma kaŋ no, wala?
