¹The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, saying,

¹ Yahuda bonkoono Yehoyacim Yosiya izo jirbey ra, sanni fun Rabbi do ka kaa Irimiya do ka ne:

²Go to the house of the Rechabites, and speak with them, and bring them into the house of Jehovah, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.

² Ma koy Rekab borey do ka salaŋ i se. Ma kand'ey mo Rabbi windo ra, fu-ize fo ra, k'i no duvan* i ma haŋ.

³And I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites,

³ Ay binde na Yaazaniya Irimiya izo, Habazaniya ize nd'a nya-izey kulu, d'a izey kulu, da Rekab borey kunda kulu sambu ka kand'ey ay banda.

⁴and I brought them into the house of Jehovah, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

⁴ Ay kand'ey Rabbi windo ra k'i daŋ Hanan izey fu-izo ra. Hanan din baaba ga ti Irikoy bora Igdaliya. Fu-izo din ga maan windikoyey fu-izo, kaŋ go Maaseya Sallum ize kaŋ ga windi me batu fu-izo boŋ.

⁵And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink wine.

⁵ Kal ay na taasayaŋ nda gaasiyayaŋ toonandi nda duvan ka daŋ Rekab borey kunda jine. Ay ne i se: «Wa haŋ duvan.»

⁶And they said, We will drink no wine; for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, ye nor your sons for ever;

⁶ Amma i ne: «Iri si duvan haŋ bo! Zama iri kaayo Yonadab Rekab izo no k'iri lordi ka ne: ‹Araŋ ma si duvan haŋ, d'araŋ no wala araŋ izey hal abada.

⁷neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor shall ye have [any]; but all your days ye shall dwell in tents, that ye may live many days in the land where ye sojourn.

⁷ Araŋ ma si windi cina, araŋ ma si dum'izeyaŋ duma, araŋ ma si reyzin* kaliyaŋ tilam, araŋ ma si goro nd'ey mo. Amma araŋ fundey jirbi kulu kuuru-fu ra no araŋ ga goro, zama araŋ ma te aloomar kuuku laabo kaŋ araŋ zumbu din ra.›

⁸And we have hearkened unto the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he commanded us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, and our daughters,

⁸ Iri mo, iri goono g'iri kaayo Yonadab Rekab izo sanno gana, hay kulu kaŋ a n'iri lordi nd'a ra. Iri si duvan haŋ iri jirbey kulu ra, iri nd'iri wandey, d'iri ize arey d'ize wayey mo.

⁹and not to build houses for us to dwell in; neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed;

⁹ Iri si windiyaŋ cina kaŋ ra iri ga goro, iri sinda reyzin kali, wala fari, wala dum'ize mo.

¹⁰but we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

¹⁰ Amma iri goro kuuru-fu yaŋ ra, iri n'a sanno gana, iri goy mo mate kulu kaŋ iri kaayo Yonadab n'iri lordi nd'a din boŋ.

¹¹And it came to pass when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come and let us go into Jerusalem because of the army of the Chaldeans, and because of the army of Syria; and we dwell at Jerusalem.

¹²And the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah, saying,

¹² Kala Rabbi sanno kaa Irimiya do ka ne:

¹³Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Go and say to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken unto my words? saith Jehovah.

¹³ Yaa no Rabbi Kundeykoyo, Israyla Irikoyo ci: Ma koy ka ne Yahuda borey da Urusalima ra gorokoy se: Araŋ si ba araŋ ma dondonandiyaŋ ta ka laakal ye ay sanno gaa no? Yaadin no Rabbi ci.

¹⁴The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; and to this day they have drunk none, for they have obeyed their father's commandment. But I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking, and ye have not hearkened unto me.

¹⁴ Yonadab Rekab izo sanno, kaŋ a na nga izey lordi nd'a ka ne i ma si duvan haŋ, i n'a toonandi. Hala hunkuna mo i siino g'a haŋ, zama i goono ga ngey kaayo sanno gana. Amma ay wo salaŋ araŋ se, ay soobay ka ci ka yaara, amma araŋ mana hangan ay se.

¹⁵And I have sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them; and ye shall dwell in the land that I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear nor hearkened unto me.

¹⁵ Ay n'ay tam annabey kulu donton araŋ gaa. Ay ga soobay k'i donton ka ne araŋ se: Wa ye ka kaa sohõ, boro fo kulu ma fay da nga fondo laala, w'araŋ muraadey barmay mo. Araŋ ma si de-koy fooyaŋ gana zama araŋ ma may i se. Yaadin gaa araŋ ga goro laabo ra kaŋ ay n'araŋ d'araŋ kaayey no. Amma araŋ mana hanga jeeri ay se, araŋ mana laakal ye ay gaa mo.

¹⁶Yea, the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father which he commanded them, but this people hath not hearkened unto me;

¹⁶ Daahir Yonadab Rekab izo izey na ngey kaayo lordo kaŋ a n'i lordi nd'a din gana, amma dumi woone wo mana hangan ay se.

¹⁷therefore thus saith Jehovah the God of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken unto them, but they have not hearkened, and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.

¹⁷ Woodin sabbay se, yaa no Rabbi Kundeykoyo, Israyla Irikoyo ci: A go, masiiba kulu kaŋ ay ci Yahuda nda Urusalima gorokoy kulu boŋ, ay g'a candi ka kande i gaa. Zama ay salaŋ i se, amma i mana maa ay se. Ay n'i ce, amma i mana tu.

¹⁸And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his injunctions, and have done according unto all that he hath commanded you;

¹⁸ Irimiya mo ne Rekab kunda se: Yaa no Rabbi Kundeykoyo, Israyla Irikoyo ci: Za kaŋ araŋ n'araŋ kaayo Yonadab lordo gana, araŋ n'a hin sanney kulu haggoy mo, araŋ goy mo haŋ kaŋ a n'araŋ lordi nd'a kulu boŋ,

¹⁹therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, There shall not fail to Jonadab the son of Rechab a man to stand before me, for ever.
