Lamentations

3

1I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
1 Ay no ga ti bora kaŋ di taabi Rabbi futa goobo do.
2Me hath he led, and brought into darkness, and not into light.
2 A n'ay candi k'ay daŋ ay ma dira kubay ra, Manti kaari ra bo.
3Surely against me hath he turned again and again his hand all the day.
3 Daahir no, a na banda bare ay gaa, A ga nga kamba bare ay se zaaro me-a-me.
4My flesh and my skin hath he wasted away, he hath broken my bones.
4 A naŋ ay hamo d'ay kuuro ma soobay ka zabu, A n'ay biriyey ceeri-ceeri mo.
5He hath built against me, and encompassed [me] with gall and toil.
6He hath made me to dwell in dark places as those that have been long dead.
6 A n'ay gorandi kubay nangey ra, Danga borey kaŋ bu za gayyaŋ.
7He hath hedged me about that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
7 A n'ay windi nda kali kal ay si hin ka fatta. A n'ay guuru-say sisiro tiŋandi ay se.
8Even when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
8 Oho, d'ay hẽ, ay ce, Ay goono ga gaakasinay ceeci, A ga wangu ay adduwa se.
9He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
10He is unto me [as] a bear lying in wait, a lion in secret places.
10 Sanda urs* cine no a go ga gum ay se, Da muusu beeri cine kaŋ go nga tuguyaŋ nango do.
11He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces; he hath made me desolate.
11 A n'ay kambandi ka kaa fonda ra, a n'ay tooru-tooru, A fay d'ay faaji ra.
12He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
13 A naŋ nga tonga ra hangawey m'ay fun hal ay ganda ra.
14I am become a derision to all my people; their song all the day.
14 Ay ciya hahaarayaŋ hari ay jama kulu se d'i dooni hari mo, zaari me-a-me.
15He hath sated me with bitterness, he hath made me drunk with wormwood.
15 A n'ay toonandi nda forti, A n'ay bugandi nda absint* hari mo.
16He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
16 A n'ay hinjey ceeri nda tond'izeyaŋ, A n'ay daabu nda boosu.
17And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I have forgotten prosperity.
17 Ni n'ay fundo furu k'a moorandi laakal kanay, Ay dinya baa haŋ kaŋ ti albarka.
18And I said, My strength is perished, and my hope in Jehovah.
18 Ay ne: «Ay gaabo ban, Hala nda beeje kaŋ ay ga sinji Rabbi gaa.»
19Remember thou mine affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and the gall.
19 Ma fongu ay kankamo d'ay yawtaray gora gaa, Kaŋ ga ti absint da hari forto.
20My soul hath [them] constantly in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21-- This I recall to heart, therefore have I hope.
21 Amma ay goono ga fongu hayey wo hal ay goono ga beeje sinji:
22It is of Jehovah's loving-kindness we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not;
22 Rabbi baakasinay suujo se no iri mana halaci, Zama a bakarawo si ban.
23they are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
23 A ga taji no susubay kulu. Ni naanayo ya ibeeri no!
24Jehovah is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
24 Ay fundo ne: «Rabbi ya ay baa no, Ay binde ga beeje sinji a gaa.»
25Jehovah is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul [that] seeketh him.
26It is good that one should both wait, and that in silence, for the salvation of Jehovah.
26 A ga boori no boro ma beeje sinji ka dangay ka Rabbi faabayaŋ batu.
27It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth:
27 A ga boori no boro se a ma taabi dondon za nga zankatara waate.
28He sitteth solitary and keepeth silence, because he hath laid it upon him;
28 A ma goro nga hinne ka dangay, Zama woodin no Rabbi dake a boŋ.
29he putteth his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope;
29 A ma nga meyo daŋ laabu ra, Zama hambara a gonda beeje.
30he giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him; he is filled full with reproach.
30 A ma nga garba no boro kaŋ g'a kar se, A ma to nda wowi haŋyaŋ.
31For the Lord will not cast off for ever;
31 Zama Koy Beero si boro furu hal abada.
32but if he have caused grief, he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses:
32 Baa day a na bine saray daŋ, Kulu nda yaadin a ga ye ka bakar nga baakasinay suuji booba boŋ.
33for he doth not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men.
33 Zama manti ibaay boŋ no Rabbi ga taabi wala bine saray dake Adam-izey boŋ.
34To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth,
34 I ma ndunnya ra hawantey kulu taamu-taamu,
35to turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High,
35 I ma boro ganji haŋ kaŋ ga wazibi a se Beeray-Beeri-Koyo jine,
36to wrong a man in his cause, -- will not the Lord see it?
36 I ma boro cimo siirandi ciito do, Koy Beero mana yadda nda woodin yaŋ.
37Who is he that saith, and there cometh to pass, what the Lord hath not commanded?
37 May no ga ci, a ma to mo, Da manti Koy Beero lordi no?
38Out of the mouth of the Most High doth not there proceed evil and good?
38 Masiiba nda gomni, Manti i kulu ga fun Beeray-Beeri-Koyo me ra no?
39Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
39 Yaadin gaa binde, mate no? Boro fundikooni ga guuni-guuni d'i n'a gooji nga zunubey sabbay se no?
40Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to Jehovah.
40 Iri ma fintalyaŋ te, Iri m'iri muraadey neesi, Iri ma bare ka ye Rabbi do haray.
41Let us lift up our heart with [our] hands unto ùGod in the heavens.
41 Iri m'iri biney d'iri kambey sambu beene Irikoy gaa beena ra ka ne:
42We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
43Thou hast covered thyself with anger, and pursued us; thou hast slain, thou hast not spared.
44Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that prayer should not pass through.
45Thou hast made us the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples.
45 Ni n'iri ciya ziibi nda fisi ndunnya dumey game ra.
46All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.
46 Iri ibarey kulu na ngey meyey feeri iri gaa.
47Fear and the pit are come upon us, devastation and ruin.
47 Joote nda guusu hirrimi da halaciyaŋ da lemunyaŋ ga ti iri wane.
48Mine eye runneth down with streams of water for the ruin of the daughter of my people.
48 Ay mundey go ga dooru ka fun ay moy ra sanda gooru hari cine, Ay borey ize wayo halaciyaŋo sabbay se.
49Mine eye poureth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
49 Ay moy go ga mundi dooru kaŋ sinda kayyaŋ, I mana naŋ,
50till Jehovah look down and behold from the heavens.
50 Hala Rabbi kaŋ go beene ma guna ka di.
51Mine eye affecteth my soul, because of all the daughters of my city.
51 Ay moy g'ay bina daŋ a ma maa doori zama ay go ga di ay gallo wandiyey kulu taabey.
52They that are mine enemies without cause have chased me sore like a bird.
53They have cut off my life in a pit, and cast a stone upon me.
53 I n'ay fundo pati guuso ra, I n'ay catu nda tondiyaŋ.
54Waters streamed over my head; I said, I am cut off.
54 Haro din kulu no ka soobay ka gana ay boŋ, Hal ay ne: «I n'ay halaci.»
55I called upon thy name, Jehovah, out of the lowest pit.
55 Ya Rabbi, guuso kaŋ ku gumo, Hal a daba gaa no ay na ni maa ce.
56Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my sighing, at my cry.
57Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee; thou saidst, Fear not.
57 Hano kaŋ hane ay na ni ce, Ni maan, ni ne ay ma si humburu.
58Lord, thou hast pleaded the cause of my soul, thou hast redeemed my life.
59Jehovah, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.
60Thou hast seen all their vengeance, all their imaginations against me.
61Thou hast heard their reproach, O Jehovah, all their imaginations against me;
61 Ya Rabbi, ni maa i wowey d'i me-hawyaŋ kulu kaŋ i goono ga te ay boŋ,
62the lips of those that rise up against me and their meditation against me all the day.
62 Da borey kaŋ tun ay se yaŋ din guuni-guuney, Da dabarey kaŋ i goono ga gurum ngey biney ra ay boŋ zaari me-a-me.
63Behold thou their sitting down and their rising up: I am their song.
63 Kala ni ma guna i gora d'i tunyaŋo. Ay ciya i se dooni hari.
64Render unto them a recompence, O Jehovah, according to the work of their hands;
64 Ya Rabbi, ni ga alhakku bana i gaa, I kambe goyey hina me.
65give them obduracy of heart, thy curse unto them;
65 Ni g'i no bine ra danawtaray, Kaŋ ga ti ni laaliyaŋo i se.
66pursue them in anger, and destroy them from under the heavens of Jehovah.
66 Ni m'i gaaray da futay k'i halaci i ma ban Rabbi beeno wo cire.
