1But it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census should be made of all the habitable world.
1 Jirbey din ra no hini sanni fo fun Kaysar* Agustos* do ka ne i ma laabey borey hantum.
2The census itself first took place when Cyrenius had the government of Syria.
2 I na hantumyaŋ sintinay wo te waato kaŋ Cirinyos ga ti Suriya laabo koy.
3And all went to be inscribed in the census roll, each to his own city:
3 Kal i kulu koy zama i m'i hantum, boro kulu koy nga kwaara do.
4and Joseph also went up from Galilee out of the city Nazareth to Judaea, to David's city, the which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,
4 Yusufu mo ziji ka fun Nazara kwaara ra, Galili* laabo do, ka koy Yahudiya laabo ra, hala Dawda kwaara do, kaŋ se i ga ne Baytlahami, zama nga wo Dawda dumi no, d'a kuray boro mo.
5to be inscribed in the census roll with Mary who was betrothed to him [as his] wife, she being great with child.
5 A koy zama i m'a hantum, nga nda nga wandiyo Maryama, kaŋ gonda gunde.
6And it came to pass, while they were there, the days of her giving birth [to her child] were fulfilled,
6 A go no binde, waato kaŋ i go noodin, kala jirbey to kaŋ a ga hay.
7and she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him up in swaddling-clothes and laid him in the manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
7 A na nga hay-jina hay, alboro. A n'a didiji nda zaara-zaarayaŋ k'a jisi garba fo ra, zama nangu si no i se yaw fuwo ra.
8And there were shepherds in that country abiding without, and keeping watch by night over their flock.
8 Kurukoyaŋ go no laabo din ra, kaŋ yaŋ ga kani saajo ra ka ngey alman kuro batu cino ra.
9And lo, an angel of [the] Lord was there by them, and [the] glory of [the] Lord shone around them, and they feared [with] great fear.
9 Kala Rabbi malayka fo kaa i do, Irikoy darza mo kaari i windanta. I humburu mo gumo.
10And the angel said to them, Fear not, for behold, I announce to you glad tidings of great joy, which shall be to all the people;
10 Amma malayka ne i se: «Wa si humburu, zama a go, ay kande araŋ se baaru hanno fo, farhã bambata wane, kaŋ ga ciya boro kulu wane.
11for to-day a Saviour has been born to you in David's city, who is Christ [the] Lord.
11 Zama i na Faabako hay araŋ se hunkuna Dawda kwaara ra, Rabbi Almasihu no.
12And this is the sign to you: ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling-clothes, and lying in a manger.
12 Woone mo ga ciya araŋ se alaama: araŋ ga attaciriya fo gar didijante kaŋ go ga kani garba fo ra.»
13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,
13 Kala sanni si, beene marga bambata fo go noodin malayka banda ga Irikoy kuku ka ne:
14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good pleasure in men.
14 «Darza go Irikoy gaa beene beena ra, ndunnya ra mo baani go borey game ra, kaŋ Irikoy ga maa i kaani.»
15And it came to pass, as the angels departed from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, Let us make our way then now as far as Bethlehem, and let us see this thing that is come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.
15 Waato kaŋ malaykey fay d'ey ka ye beena ra, kala kurukoy ne ngey nda cara se: «Wa naŋ iri ma koy hala Baytlahami ka di hayo kaŋ te, kaŋ Rabbi n'iri bayrandi nd'a.»
16And they came with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger;
16 I kaa da waasi. Kal i na Maryama nda Yusufu gar, da attaciriya kaŋ go garba ra ga kani.
17and having seen [it] they made known about the country the thing which had been said to them concerning this child.
17 Waato kaŋ i di a, i na sanno dede kaŋ malaykey ci ngey se zanka din boŋ.
18And all who heard [it] wondered at the things said to them by the shepherds.
18 Borey kulu kaŋ maa dambara nda hayey kaŋ kurukoy ci i se.
19But Mary kept all these things [in her mind], pondering [them] in her heart.
19 Amma Maryama na hayey wo kulu gaay k'i lasaabu nga bina ra.
20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all things which they had heard and seen, as it had been said to them.
20 Kurukoy ye, i goono ga Irikoy beerandi k'a kuku hayey wo kulu boŋ kaŋ ngey maa, da kaŋ ngey di mo, mate kaŋ cine i ci i se.
21And when eight days were fulfilled for circumcising him, his name was called Jesus, which was the name given by the angel before he had been conceived in the womb.
21 Waato kaŋ jirbi ahakkanta to kaŋ i ga zanka dambangu*, i n'a maa daŋ Yesu, maa kaŋ malayka ci za Yesu mana te gunda ra.
22And when the days were fulfilled for their purifying according to the law of Moses, they brought him to Jerusalem to present [him] to the Lord
22 Waato kaŋ i hanandiyaŋo jirbey to mo, Musa asariya* boŋ, kal i konda Yesu hala Urusalima* kwaara zama i m'a salle Rabbi se.
23(as it is written in the law of [the] Lord: Every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord),

24and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of [the] Lord: A pair of turtle doves, or two young pigeons.
24 I koy mo zama ngey ma sargay* no mate kaŋ Rabbi asariya ci, danga: «Koloŋay hinka wala tantabal ize hinka.»
25And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was just and pious, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and [the] Holy Spirit was upon him.
25 Guna mo, boro fo go no Urusalima kaŋ maa Simeyon. Boro adili no, kaŋ ga humburu Irikoy mo, kaŋ goono ga Israyla kunfa batu.
26And it was divinely communicated to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death before he should see [the] Lord's Christ.
26 Biya Hanno go a gaa mo. Biya Hanna jin k'a bayrandi kaŋ a si di buuyaŋ kala nd'a di Rabbi Almasihu jina.
27And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and as the parents brought in the child Jesus that they might do for him according to the custom of the law,

28*he* received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,
28 Kala Simeyon n'a sambu nga kambey ra ka Irikoy saabu ka ne:
29Lord, now thou lettest thy bondman go, according to thy word, in peace;
29 «Sohõ, ya Koy Beero, ma naŋ ay, ni tamo ma dira baani, ni sanno boŋ.
30for mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

32 Annura no kaŋ ga bangay ndunnya dumey se, darza mo no Israyla se, kaŋ ga ti ni wane jama.»
33And his father and mother wondered at the things which were said concerning him.
33 Baabo da nyaŋo mo, i dambara nda hayey kaŋ yaŋ i goono ga ne a boŋ.
34And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Lo, this [child] is set for the fall and rising up of many in Israel, and for a sign spoken against;
34 Kala Simeyon na albarka gaara i se, ka ne a nyaŋo, Maryama se: «Guna, Irikoy na zanka wo jisi Israyla boro boobo kaŋyaŋo d'i tunyaŋo se. A ga goro alaama mo kaŋ i ga jance.
35(and even a sword shall go through thine own soul;) so that [the] thoughts may be revealed from many hearts.
35 Hala ni bumbo mo, takuba ga ni fundo gooru, zama bine boobo miiley ma bangay.»
36And there was a prophetess, Anna, daughter of Phanuel, of [the] tribe of Asher, who was far advanced in years, having lived with [her] husband seven years from her virginity,
36 Wayboro annabi fo mo go no, kaŋ jiirey baa, kaŋ maa Hannata. Fanuwel ize way fo no, Aser kunda boro no. A wandiyotara banda a te jiiri iyye da nga kurnye.

41And his parents went yearly to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover.

42And when he was twelve years old, and they went up [to Jerusalem] according to the custom of the feast
42 Waato kaŋ zanka to jiiri way cindi hinka, i ziji ka koy bato do alaada boŋ.
43and had completed the days, as they returned, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, and his parents knew not [of it];

44but, supposing him to be in the company that journeyed together, they went a day's journey, and sought him among their relations and acquaintances:
44 Kaŋ i go ga tammahã a go jama ra, i te zaari fo diraw, gaa no i n'a ceeci dumey da mo-ka-bayrayey game ra.
45and not having found him they returned to Jerusalem seeking him.
45 I mana di a mo, kal i ye Urusalima, i goono g'a ceeci.
46And it came to pass, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers and hearing them and asking them questions.

48And when they saw him they were amazed: and his mother said to him, Child, why hast thou dealt thus with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee distressed.
48 Kaŋ hayrey di Yesu, i dambara. Kala nyaŋo ne a se: «Ay izo, ifo se no ni na woone te iri se? Guna, in da ni baaba, iri go ga ni ceeci nda bine saray.»
49And he said to them, Why [is it] that ye have sought me? did ye not know that I ought to be [occupied] in my Father's business?
49 Yesu mo ne i se: «Ifo se no araŋ g'ay ceeci? Wala araŋ mana bay a ga tilas no ay ma bara ay Baabo muraado ra?»
50And they understood not the thing that he said to them.

52And Jesus advanced in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.
