1And immediately in the morning the chief priests, having taken counsel with the elders and scribes and the whole sanhedrim, bound Jesus and carried [him] away, and delivered [him] up to Pilate.
1 Waato kaŋ mo bo, alfaga beerey da arkusey da asariya dondonandikoy da Yahudancey arkusey marga kulu saaware. I na Yesu haw ka kond'a k'a no Bilatos* se.
2And Pilate asked him, Art *thou* the King of the Jews? And he answered and said to him, *Thou* sayest.
2 Bilatos mo n'a hã ka ne: «Ni ya Yahudancey bonkoono no?» A tu ka ne Bilatos se: «Mate kaŋ ni ci no.»
3And the chief priests accused him urgently.
3 Alfaga beerey kand'a kalima nda hari boobo.
4And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? See of how many things they bear witness against thee.
4 Bilatos ye k'a hã ka ne: «Ni si tu da hay kulu no? Guna hari boobo kaŋ i goono ga ni kalima nd'a.»
5But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marvelled.
5 Amma Yesu mana tonton ka tu da hay kulu, kala Bilatos dambara.
6But at [the] feast he released to them one prisoner, whomsoever they begged [of him].
6 Paska* batu kulu gaa Bilatos doona ka kas'ize fo taŋ i se, nga din kaŋ borey ga ŋwaaray a gaa.
7Now there was the [person] named Barabbas bound with those who had made insurrection with [him], [and] that had committed murder in the insurrection.

9But Pilate answered them saying, Will ye that I release to you the King of the Jews?
9 Bilatos tu i se ka ne: «Araŋ ga ba ay ma Yahudancey bonkoono taŋ araŋ se, wala?»
10for he knew that the chief priests had delivered him up through envy.
10 Zama a bay kaŋ canse sabbay se no alfaga beerey na Yesu nooyandi.
11But the chief priests stirred up the crowd that he might rather release Barabbas to them.
11 Amma alfaga beerey na borey marga zukku hal i ma ne a ma Barabbas taŋ ngey se.
12And Pilate answering said to them again, What will ye then that I do [to him] whom ye call King of the Jews?
12 Bilatos ye ka tu ka ne i se koyne: «Day, ifo no ay ga te da boro kaŋ se araŋ ga ne Yahudancey bonkoono?»
13And they cried out again, Crucify him.
13 I kuuwa koyne ka ne: «A kanji*!»
14And Pilate said to them, What evil then has he done? But they cried out the more urgently, Crucify him.
14 Bilatos ne i se: «Ifo se? Hari laalo woofo no a te?» Amma i kaati ka tonton ka ne: «A kanji!»
15And Pilate, desirous of contenting the crowd, released to them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus, when he had scourged him, that he might be crucified.
15 Za kaŋ Bilatos ga ba nga ma te haŋ kaŋ ga kaanu marga borey se, kal a na Barabbas taŋ i se ka Yesu barzu k'a no i m'a kanji.
16And the soldiers led him away into the court which is [called the] praetorium, and they call together the whole band.

18And they began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
18 I soobay k'a fo ka ne: «Fofo, Yahudancey bonkoono!»
19And they struck his head with a reed, and spat on him, and, bending the knee, did him homage.
19 I n'a kar boŋo ra nda kwaari ka tuf'a gaa. I soobay ka sumbal ka sombu a jine.
20And when they had mocked him, they took the purple off him, and put his own clothes on him; and they lead him out that they may crucify him.
