1Now Jesus having been born in Bethlehem of Judaea, in the days of Herod the king, behold magi from the east arrived at Jerusalem, saying,
1 I go no kala alwaato kaŋ i na Yesu hay Baytlahami, Yahudiya* laabu wane ra, Hirodus* koytaray zamana ra, nga no, seeku fooyaŋ fun wayna funay haray ka kaa Urusalima*, ka ne:
2Where is the king of the Jews that has been born? for we have seen his star in the east, and have come to do him homage.
2 «Man gaa no Yahudancey bonkoono kaŋ i hay din go?
3But Herod the king having heard [of it], was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;
3 Waato kaŋ Bonkoono Hirodus maa woodin, a laakal tun, nga nda Urusalima kulu nga banda.
4and, assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ should be born.
4 Gaa no, a na alfaga* beerey da asariya* dondonandikoy kulu margu kaŋ yaŋ go jama ra, k'i hã nango kaŋ i ga Almasihu hay.
5And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judaea; for thus it is written through the prophet:
5 I ne a se: «Baytlahami no, Yahudiya laabu ra wano, zama yaadin no annabo hantum ka ne:
6And *thou* Bethlehem, land of Juda, art in no wise the least among the governors of Juda; for out of thee shall go forth a leader who shall shepherd my people Israel.
6 ‹Ni mo, Baytlahami, Yahudiya laabu, ni manti koda bo baa kayna Yahudiya laabu koyey ra. Zama ni ra no mayraykoyo ga fatta kaŋ ga ciya ay jama Israyla* kuruko.› »
7Then Herod, having secretly called the magi, inquired of them accurately the time of the star that was appearing;
7 Alwaato din binde Hirodus na seekoy din ce tuguyaŋ ra, ka baaro ceeci i do laakal gaa waati kaŋ cine no handariya bangay.
8and having sent them to Bethlehem, said, Go, search out accurately concerning the child, and when ye shall have found [him] bring me back word, so that *I* also may come and do him homage.
8 A n'i donton mo i ma koy Baytlahami, ka ne: «Wa koy. Araŋ ma zanka din baaru ceeci nda laakal. Waati kaŋ araŋ du a mo, araŋ ma ye ka kande ay se baaro, zama ay mo ma koy ka somb'a se.»
9And they having heard the king went their way; and lo, the star, which they had seen in the east, went before them until it came and stood over the place where the little child was.
9 Ngey mo, kaŋ i maa bonkoono sanno din, i koy. Handariya mo kaŋ i di wayna funay haray go ga koy i jine, kal a kaa ka kay nango kaŋ koociya go boŋ do.
10And when they saw the star they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11And having come into the house they saw the little child with Mary his mother, and falling down did him homage. And having opened their treasures, they offered to him gifts, gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
11 I furo fuwo ra mo, i di koociya, nga nda nga nya Maryama. I ye ganda ka sududu a se.
12And being divinely instructed in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
12 Waato kaŋ i du bayrandiyaŋ Irikoy do hindiri ra i ma si ye Hirodus do, i tun ka fondo fo gana kala ngey laabo ra.
13Now, they having departed, behold, an angel of [the] Lord appears in a dream to Joseph, saying, Arise, take to [thee] the little child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be there until I shall tell thee; for Herod will seek the little child to destroy it.
14And, having arisen, he took to [him] the little child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt.
15And he was there until the death of Herod, that that might be fulfilled which was spoken by [the] Lord through the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
15 A goro noodin kala Hirodus buuyaŋ, zama i ma haŋ kaŋ Rabbi ci annabi do toonandi, kaŋ ne: «Ay n'ay izo ce a ma fun Misira laabo ra.»
16Then Herod, seeing that he had been mocked by the magi, was greatly enraged; and sent and slew all the boys which [were] in Bethlehem, and in all its borders, from two years and under, according to the time which he had accurately inquired from the magi.
A donton ka zanka alborey kulu wi kaŋ go Baytlahami ra, hal a laabo me kulu, za jiiri hinka ize ka kaa ganda, jirbey lasaabuyaŋ boŋ kaŋ a ceeci nda laakal seekoy do.
17Then was fulfilled that which was spoken through Jeremias the prophet, saying,
17 Han din hane no i na haya kaŋ i ci annabi Irimiya do toonandi, kaŋ ne:
18A voice has been heard in Rama, weeping, and great lamentation: Rachel weeping [for] her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
18 «I maa jinde fo Rama ra, hẽeni nda baray bambata. Rahila* goono ga hẽ nga izey sabbay se, a wangu nda yaamaryaŋ, zama i si no.»
19But Herod having died, behold, an angel of [the] Lord appears in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying,
19 Amma alwaato kaŋ Hirodus bu, kala Rabbi malayka bangay Yusufu se koyne Misira laabo ra ka ne:
20Arise, take to [thee] the little child and its mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they who sought the life of the little child are dead.
20 «Tun ka koociya da nga nyaŋo sambu, ka koy Israyla laabo ra, zama borey kaŋ yaŋ goono ga koociya fundo ceeci ngey m'a halaci din bu.»
21And he arose and took to [him] the little child and its mother, and came into the land of Israel;
22but having heard that 'Archelaus reigns over Judaea, instead of Herod his father,' he was afraid to go there; and having been divinely instructed in a dream, he went away into the parts of Galilee,
22 Amma waato kaŋ a maa Arkalawus na nga baabo Hirodus tubu, a goono ga may Yahudiya laabo ra, a humburu noodin koyyaŋ. A binde du bayrandiyaŋ Irikoy do hindiri ra, kal a kamba ka koy Galili* ra.
23and came and dwelt in a town called Nazareth; so that that should be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets, He shall be called a Nazaraean.
23 A kaa ka goro kwaara fo ra kaŋ se i ga ne Nazara, zama i ma haŋ kaŋ i ci annabey me ra toonandi, kaŋ i ne: «I ga ne a se Nazara boro.»
