1I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
1ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܓܦܬܐ ܕܫܪܪܐ ܘܐܒܝ ܗܘ ܦܠܚܐ ܀
2[As to] every branch in me not bearing fruit, he takes it away; and [as to] every one bearing fruit, he purges it that it may bring forth more fruit.
2ܟܠ ܫܒܫܬܐ ܕܒܝ ܦܐܪܐ ܠܐ ܝܗܒܐ ܫܩܠ ܠܗ ܘܐܝܕܐ ܕܝܗܒܐ ܦܐܪܐ ܡܕܟܐ ܠܗ ܕܦܐܪܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܬܝܬܐ ܀
3Ye are already clean by reason of the word which I have spoken to you.
3ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܟܕܘ ܕܟܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܡܠܠܬ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܀
4Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abide in the vine, thus neither [can] ye unless ye abide in me.
4ܩܘܘ ܒܝ ܘܐܢܐ ܒܟܘܢ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܫܒܫܬܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܕܬܬܠ ܦܐܪܐ ܡܢ ܢܦܫܗ ܐܠܐ ܡܩܘܝܐ ܒܓܦܬܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܬܩܘܘܢ ܒܝ ܀
5I am the vine, ye [are] the branches. He that abides in me and I in him, *he* bears much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing.
5ܐܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܓܦܬܐ ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܫܒܫܬܐ ܡܢ ܕܡܩܘܐ ܒܝ ܘܐܢܐ ܒܗ ܗܢܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܦܐܪܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܕܠܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܡܕܡ ܀
6Unless any one abide in me he is cast out as the branch, and is dried up; and they gather them and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
6ܐܠܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܢܫ ܡܩܘܐ ܒܝ ܡܫܬܕܐ ܠܒܪ ܐܝܟ ܫܒܫܬܐ ܕܝܒܫܐ ܘܠܩܛܝܢ ܪܡܝܢ ܠܗ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܕܬܐܩܕ ܀
7If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall come to pass to you.
7ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܬܩܘܘܢ ܒܝ ܘܡܠܝ ܢܩܘܝܢ ܒܟܘܢ ܟܠ ܡܐ ܕܬܨܒܘܢ ܠܡܫܐܠ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܀
8In this is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, and ye shall become disciples of mine.
8ܒܗܕܐ ܡܫܬܒܚ ܐܒܐ ܕܦܐܪܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܬܝܬܘܢ ܘܬܗܘܘܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܝ ܀
9As the Father has loved me, I also have loved you: abide in my love.
9ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܚܒܢܝ ܐܒܝ ܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܐܚܒܬܟܘܢ ܩܘܘ ܒܪܚܡܬܝ ܕܝܠܝ ܀
10If ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love, as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
10ܐܢ ܦܘܩܕܢܝ ܬܛܪܘܢ ܬܩܘܘܢ ܒܚܘܒܐ ܕܝܠܝ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܢܛܪܬ ܦܘܩܕܢܘܗܝ ܕܐܒܝ ܘܡܩܘܐ ܐܢܐ ܒܚܘܒܗ ܀
11I have spoken these things to you that my joy may be in you, and your joy be full.
11ܗܠܝܢ ܡܠܠܬ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܕܚܕܘܬܝ ܬܗܘܐ ܒܟܘܢ ܘܬܫܬܡܠܐ ܚܕܘܬܟܘܢ ܀
12This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.
12ܗܢܘ ܦܘܩܕܢܝ ܕܬܚܒܘܢ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܚܒܬܟܘܢ ܀
13No one has greater love than this, that one should lay down his life for his friends.
13ܚܘܒܐ ܕܪܒ ܡܢ ܗܢܐ ܠܝܬ ܕܐܢܫ ܢܦܫܗ ܢܤܝܡ ܚܠܦ ܪܚܡܘܗܝ ܀
14Ye are my friends if ye practise whatever I command you.
14ܐܢܬܘܢ ܪܚܡܝ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܢ ܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܟܠ ܕܡܦܩܕ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܀
15I call you no longer bondmen, for the bondman does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things which I have heard of my Father I have made known to you.
15ܠܐ ܡܟܝܠ ܩܪܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܥܒܕܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܥܒܕܐ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܡܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܡܪܗ ܪܚܡܝ ܕܝܢ ܩܪܝܬܟܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܟܠ ܕܫܡܥܬ ܡܢ ܐܒܝ ܐܘܕܥܬܟܘܢ ܀
16Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and have set you that ye should go and [that] ye should bear fruit, and [that] your fruit should abide, that whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name he may give you.
16ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܓܒܝܬܘܢܢܝ ܐܠܐ ܐܢܐ ܗܘ ܓܒܝܬܟܘܢ ܘܤܡܬܟܘܢ ܕܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܬܐܙܠܘܢ ܬܝܬܘܢ ܦܐܪܐ ܘܦܐܪܝܟܘܢ ܢܩܘܘܢ ܕܟܠ ܕܬܫܐܠܘܢ ܠܐܒܝ ܒܫܡܝ ܢܬܠ ܠܟܘܢ ܀
17These things I command you, that ye love one another.
17ܗܠܝܢ ܡܦܩܕ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܬܚܒܘܢ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ ܀
18If the world hate you, know that it has hated me before you.
18ܘܐܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܤܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܥܘ ܕܩܕܡܝܟܘܢ ܠܝ ܤܢܐ ܀
19If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on account of this the world hates you.
19ܘܐܠܘ ܡܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܠܕܝܠܗ ܪܚܡ ܗܘܐ ܐܠܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܐܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܓܒܝܬܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܤܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܥܠܡܐ ܀
20Remember the word which I said unto you, The bondman is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep also yours.
20ܥܗܕܘ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܠܝܬ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܪܒ ܡܢ ܡܪܗ ܐܢ ܠܝ ܪܕܦܘ ܐܦ ܠܟܘܢ ܢܪܕܦܘܢ ܘܐܢ ܡܠܬܝ ܢܛܪܘ ܐܦ ܕܝܠܟܘܢ ܢܛܪܘܢ ܀
21But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they have not known him that sent me.
21ܐܠܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܢܥܒܕܘܢ ܒܟܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܫܡܝ ܕܝܠܝ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܠܡܢ ܕܫܕܪܢܝ ܀
22If I had not come and spoken to them, they had not had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.
22ܐܠܘ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܐܬܝܬ ܡܠܠܬ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܠܝܬ ܗܘܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܗܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܥܠܬܐ ܥܠ ܐܦܝ ܚܛܝܬܗܘܢ ܀
23He that hates me hates also my Father.
23ܡܢ ܕܠܝ ܤܢܐ ܘܐܦ ܠܐܒܝ ܤܢܐ ܀
24If I had not done among them the works which no other one has done, they had not had sin; but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.
24ܘܐܠܘ ܥܒܕܐ ܠܐ ܥܒܕܬ ܠܥܢܝܗܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܢܫ ܐܚܪܝܢ ܠܐ ܥܒܕ ܠܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܗܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܘܚܙܘ ܘܤܢܘ ܐܦ ܠܝ ܘܐܦ ܠܐܒܝ ܀
25But that the word written in their law might be fulfilled, They hated me without a cause.
25ܕܬܬܡܠܐ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܟܬܝܒܐ ܒܢܡܘܤܗܘܢ ܕܤܢܐܘܢܝ ܡܓܢ ܀
26But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes forth from with the Father, *he* shall bear witness concerning me;
26ܡܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܐܬܐ ܦܪܩܠܛܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܢܐ ܡܫܕܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܝ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܫܪܪܐ ܗܘ ܕܡܢ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܝ ܢܦܩ ܗܘ ܢܤܗܕ ܥܠܝ ܀
27and ye too bear witness, because ye are with me from [the] beginning.
27ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܤܗܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܡܢ ܫܘܪܝܐ ܥܡܝ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܀
