¹And Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.

¹லேயாள் யாக்கோபுக்குப் பெற்ற குமாரத்தியாகிய தீனாள் தேசத்துப் பெண்களைப் பார்க்கப் புறப்பட்டாள்.

²And when Shechem, the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and humbled her.

²அவளை ஏவியனான ஏமோரின் குமாரனும் அத்தேசத்தின் பிரபுவுமாகிய சீகேம் என்பவன் கண்டு, அவளைக் கொண்டுபோய், அவளோடே சயனித்து, அவளைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தினான்.

³And his soul fastened on Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the maiden, and spoke consolingly to the maiden.

³அவனுடைய மனம் யாக்கோபின் குமாரத்தி.யாகிய தீனாள்மேல் பற்றுதலாயிருந்தது; அவன் அந்தப் பெண்ணை நேசித்து, அந்தப் பெண்ணின் மனதுக்கு இன்பமாய்ப் பேசினான்.

⁴And Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, Take me this girl as wife.

⁴சீகேம் தன் தகப்பனாகிய ஏமோரை நோக்கி: இந்தப் பெண்ணை எனக்குக் கொள்ளவேண்டும் என்று சொன்னான்.

⁵And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter; but his sons were with his cattle in the fields, and Jacob said nothing until they came.

⁵தன் குமாரத்தியாகிய தீனாளை அவன் தீட்டுப்படுத்தினதை யாக்கோபு கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவன் குமாரர் அவனுடைய மந்தையினிடத்தில் வெளியிலே இருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் வருமளவும் யாக்கோபு பேசாமலிருந்தான்.

⁶And Hamor the father of Shechem came out to Jacob, to speak to him.

⁶அத்தருணத்தில் சீகேமின் தகப்பனாகிய ஏமோர் புறப்பட்டு, யாக்கோபோடே பேசும்படி அவனிடத்தில் வந்தான்.

⁷And the sons of Jacob came from the fields when they heard [it]; and the men were grieved, and they were very angry, because he had wrought what was disgraceful in Israel, in lying with Jacob's daughter, which thing ought not to be done.

⁷யாக்கோபின் குமாரர் இந்தச் செய்தியைக் கேட்டவுடனே, வெளியிலிருந்து வந்தார்கள். அவன் யாக்கோபின் குமாரத்தியோடே சயனித்து, செய்யத்தகாத மதிகெட்ட காரியத்தை இஸ்ரவேலில் செய்ததினாலே, அந்த மனிதர் மனங்கொதித்து மிகவும் கோபங்கொண்டார்கள்.

⁸And Hamor spoke to them, saying, My son Shechem's soul cleaves to your daughter: I pray you, give her to him as wife.

⁸ஏமோர் அவர்களோடே பேசி: என் குமாரனாகிய சீகேமின் மனது உங்கள் குமாரத்தியின்மேல் பற்றுதலாயிருக்கிறது; அவளை அவனுக்கு மனைவியாகக் கொடுங்கள்.

⁹And make marriages with us: give your daughters to us, and take our daughters to you.

⁹நீங்கள் எங்களோடே சம்பந்தங்கலந்து, உங்கள் குமாரத்திகளை எங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்து, எங்கள் குமாரத்திகளை உங்களுக்குக் கொண்டு,

¹⁰And dwell with us, and the land shall be before you: dwell and trade in it, and get yourselves possessions in it.

¹⁰எங்களோடே வாசம்பண்ணுங்கள்; தேசம் உங்கள் முன்பாக இருக்கிறது; இதிலே குடியிருந்து, வியாபாரம்பண்ணி, பொருள் சம்பாதித்து, அதைக் கையாண்டுகொண்டிருங்கள் என்றான்.

¹¹And Shechem said to her father and to her brethren, Let me find favour in your eyes; and what ye shall say to me I will give.

¹¹சீகேமும் அவள் தகப்பனையும் அவள் சகோதரனையும் நோக்கி: உங்கள் கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயவு கிடைக்கவேண்டும்; நீங்கள் என்னிடத்தில் எதைக் கேட்டாலும் தருகிறேன்;

¹²Impose on me very much as dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say to me; but give me the maiden as wife.

¹²பரிசமும் வெகுமதியும் நீங்கள் எவ்வளவு கேட்டாலும், உங்கள் சொற்படி தருகிறேன்; அந்தப் பெண்ணைமாத்திரம் எனக்கு மனைவியாகக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.

¹³And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and spoke -- because he had defiled Dinah their sister --

¹³அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபின் குமாரர் தங்கள் சகோதரியாகிய தீனாளைச் சீகேம் என்பவன் தீட்டுப்படுத்தினபடியால், அவனுக்கும் அவன் தகப்பனாகிய ஏமோருக்கும் வஞ்சகமான மறுமொழியாக:

¹⁴and said to them, We cannot do this, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that [were] a reproach to us.

¹⁴விருத்தசேதனமில்லாத புருஷனுக்கு நாங்கள் எங்கள் சகோதரியைக் கொடுக்கலாகாது; அது எங்களுக்கு நிந்தையாயிருக்கும்.

¹⁵But only in this will we consent to you, if ye will be as we, that every male of you be circumcised;

¹⁵நீங்களும், உங்களுக்குள்ளிருக்கும் ஆண்மக்கள் யாவரும் விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்பட்டு எங்களைப்போலாவீர்களானால், நாங்கள் சம்மதித்து,

¹⁶then will we give our daughters to you, and take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and be one people.

¹⁶உங்களுக்கு எங்கள் குமாரத்திகளைக் கொடுத்து, உங்கள் குமாரத்திகளை எங்களுக்குக் கொண்டு, உங்களோடே குடியிருந்து, ஏகஜனமாயிருப்போம்.

¹⁷But if ye do not hearken to us, to be circumcised, then will we take our daughter and go away.

¹⁷விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணிக்கொள்வதற்கு எங்கள் சொல் கேளாமற்போவீர்களானால், நாங்கள் எங்கள் குமாரத்தியை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போய்விடுவோம் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

¹⁸And their words were good in the eyes of Hamor and Shechem, Hamor's son.

¹⁸அவர்களுடைய வார்த்தைகள் ஏமோருக்கும் ஏமோரின் குமாரனாகிய சீகேமுக்கும் நலமாய்த் தோன்றினது.

¹⁹And the youth did not delay to do this, because he had delight in Jacob's daughter. And he was honourable above all in the house of his father.

¹⁹அந்த வாலிபன் யாக்கோபுடைய குமாரத்தியின்மேல் பிரியம் வைத்திருந்தபடியால், அந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்ய அவன் தாமதம்பண்ணவில்லை. அவன் தன் தகப்பன் வீட்டார் அனைவருக்குள்ளும் மேன்மையுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்.

²⁰And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the gate of their city, and spoke to the men of their city, saying,

²⁰ஏமோரும் அவன் குமாரன் சீகேமும் தங்கள் பட்டணத்து வாசலில் வந்து, தங்கள் பட்டணத்து மனிதரோடே பேசி:

²¹These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade in it. And the land -- behold, it is of wide extent before them. We will take their daughters as wives, and give them our daughters.

²¹இந்த மனிதர் நம்மோடே சமாதானமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; ஆகையால், அவர்கள் இந்தத் தேசத்தில் வாசம்பண்ணி, இதிலே வியாபாரம்பண்ணட்டும்; அவர்களும் வாசம்பண்ணுகிறதற்கு தேசம் விஸ்தாரமாயிருக்கிறது; அவர்களுடைய குமாரத்திகளை நமக்கு மனைவிகளாகக் கொண்டு, நம்முடைய குமாரத்திகளை அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுப்போம்.

²²But only in this will the men consent to us to dwell with us, to be one people -- if every male among us be circumcised, just as they are circumcised.

²²அந்த மனிதர் விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்பட்டவர்களாயிருக்கிறது போல, நம்மிலுள்ள ஆண்மக்கள் யாவரும் விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்பட்டால், அவர்கள் ஏகஜனமாக நம்மோடே வாசம்பண்ணச் சம்மதிப்பார்கள்.

²³Their cattle, and their possessions, and every beast of theirs, shall they not be ours? only let us consent to them, and they will dwell with us.

²³அவர்களுடைய ஆடுமாடுகள் ஆஸ்திகள் மிருகஜீவன்கள் எல்லாம் நம்மைச் சேருமல்லவா? அவர்களுக்குச் சம்மதிப்போமானால், அவர்கள் நம்முடனே வாசம்பண்ணுவார்கள் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

²⁴And all that went out at the gate of his city hearkened to Hamor and to Shechem his son; and every male was circumcised -- all that went out at the gate of his city.

²⁴அப்பொழுது ஏமோரின் பட்டணத்து வாசலில் புறப்பட்டுவரும் அனைவரும் அவன் சொல்லையும், அவன் குமாரனாகிய சீகேமின் சொல்லையும் கேட்டு, அவனுடைய பட்டணத்து வாசலில் புறப்பட்டுவரும் ஆண்மக்கள் யாவரும் விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்பட்டார்கள்.

²⁵And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.

²⁵மூன்றாம் நாளில் அவர்களுக்கு நோவெடுத்துக்கொண்டபோது, யாக்கோபின் குமாரரும் தீனாளின் சகோதரருமான சிமியோன் லேவி என்னும் இவ்விரண்டு பேரும் தன்தன் பட்டயத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, துணிகரமாய்ப் பட்டணத்தின் மேல் பாய்ந்து, ஆண்மக்கள் யாவரையும் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.

²⁶And Hamor and Shechem his son they slew with the edge of the sword; and took Dinah out of Shechem's house; and went out.

²⁶ஏமோரையும், அவன் குமாரன் சீகேமையும் பட்டயக்கருக்காலே கொன்று, சீகேமின் வீட்டிலிருந்த தீனாளை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போய்விட்டார்கள்.

²⁷The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.

²⁷மேலும், யாக்கோபின் குமாரர் வெட்டுண்டவர்களிடத்தில் வந்து, தங்கள் சகோதரியை அவர்கள் தீட்டுப்படுத்தினதற்காகப் பட்டணத்தைக் கொள்ளையிட்டு,

²⁸Their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and what [was] in the city, and what [was] in the field they took;

²⁸அவர்களுடைய ஆடுமாடுகளையும், கழுதைகளையும், பட்டணத்திலும் வயல்வெளியிலும் இருந்தவைகள் யாவையும்,

²⁹and all their goods, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and plundered them, and all that was in the houses.

²⁹அவர்களுடைய எல்லாத் தட்டுமுட்டுகளையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, அவர்களுடைய எல்லாக் குழந்தைகளையும் ஸ்திரீகளையும் சிறைபிடித்து, வீட்டிலிருந்த எல்லாவற்றையும் கொள்ளையிட்டார்கள்.

³⁰And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me, in that ye make me odious among the inhabitants of the land -- among the Canaanites and the Perizzites; and I am few men in number, and they will gather themselves against me and smite me, and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.

³⁰அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு சிமியோனையும் லேவியையும் பார்த்து: இந்தத் தேசத்தில் குடியிருக்கிற கானானியரிடத்திலும் பெரிசியரிடத்திலும் என் வாசனையை நீங்கள் கெடுத்ததினாலே என்னைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணினீர்கள்; நான் கொஞ்ச ஜனமுள்ளவன்; அவர்கள் எனக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கூட்டங்கூடி, நானும் என் குடும்பமும் அழியும்படி என்னை வெட்டிப்போடுவார்களே என்றான்.

³¹And they said, Should people deal with our sister as with a harlot?

³¹அதற்கு அவர்கள்: எங்கள் சகோதரியை அவர்கள் ஒரு வேசியைப்போல நடத்தலாமோ என்றார்கள்.
