¹And Joseph came and told Pharaoh and said, My father and my brethren, and their sheep and their cattle, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

¹யோசேப்பு பார்வோனிடத்தில் போய்: என் தகப்பனும் என் சகோதரரும், தங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளோடும் தங்களுக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றோடுங்கூடக் கானான்தேசத்திலிருந்து வந்தார்கள்; இப்பொழுது கோசேன் நாட்டில் இருக்கிறார்கள் என்று சொல்லி;

²And he took from the whole number of his brethren, five men, and set them before Pharaoh.

²தன் சகோதரரில் ஐந்துபேரைப் பார்வோனுக்கு முன்பாகக் கொண்டுபோய் நிறுத்தினான்.

³And Pharaoh said to his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said to Pharaoh, Thy servants are shepherds, both we and our fathers.

³பார்வோன் அவனுடைய சகோதரரை நோக்கி: உங்கள் தொழில் என்ன என்று கேட்டான்; அதற்கு அவர்கள்: உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்களும் எங்கள் பிதாக்களும் மந்தை மேய்க்கிறவர்கள் என்று பார்வோனிடத்தில் சொன்னதுமன்றி,

⁴And they said to Pharaoh, To sojourn in the land are we come; for there is no pasture for the sheep that thy servants have, for the famine is grievous in the land of Canaan; and now, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.

⁴கானான் தேசத்திலே பஞ்சம் கொடிதாயிருக்கிறது; உமது அடியாரின் மந்தைகளுக்கு மேய்ச்சல் இல்லாமையால், இத்தேசத்திலே தங்கவந்தோம்; உமது அடியாராகிய நாங்கள் கோசேன் நாட்டிலே குடியிருக்கும்படி தயவுசெய்யவேண்டும் என்று வேண்டிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

⁵And Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come to thee.

⁵அப்பொழுது பார்வோன் யோசேப்பை நோக்கி: உன் தகப்பனும் உன் சகோதரரும் உன்னிடத்தில் வந்திருக்கிறார்களே.

⁶The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land settle thy father and thy brethren: let them dwell in the land of Goshen. And if thou knowest men of activity among them, then set them as overseers of cattle over what I have.

⁶எகிப்துதேசம் உனக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கிறது; தேசத்திலுள்ள நல்ல இடத்திலே உன் தகப்பனையும் உன் சகோதரரையும் குடியேறும்படி செய்; அவர்கள் கோசேன் நாட்டிலே குடியிருக்கலாம்; அவர்களுக்குள்ளே திறமையுள்ளவர்கள் உண்டென்று உனக்குத் தெரிந்திருந்தால், அவர்களை என் ஆடுமாடுகளை விசாரிக்கிறதற்குத் தலைவராக வைக்கலாம் என்றான்.

⁷And Joseph brought Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh. And Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

⁷பின்பு, யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனாகிய யாக்கோபை அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்து, அவனைப் பார்வோனுக்கு முன்பாக நிறுத்தினான். யாக்கோபு பார்வோனை ஆசீர்வதித்தான்.

⁸And Pharaoh said to Jacob, How many are the days of the years of thy life?

⁸பார்வோன் யாக்கோபை நோக்கி: உமக்கு வயது என்ன என்று கேட்டான்.

⁹And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The days of the years of my sojourning are a hundred and thirty years. Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they do not attain to the days of the years of the life of my fathers, in the days of their sojourning.

⁹அதற்கு யாக்கோபு: நான் பரதேசியாய்ச் சஞ்சரித்த நாட்கள் நூற்றுமுப்பது வருஷம்; என் ஆயுசு நாட்கள் கொஞ்சமும் சஞ்சலமுள்ளதுமாயிருக்கிறது; அவைகள் பரதேசிகளாய்ச் சஞ்சரித்த என் பிதாக்களுடைய ஆயுசு நாட்களுக்கு வந்து எட்டவில்லை என்று பார்வோனுடனே சொன்னான்.

¹⁰And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from Pharaoh.

¹⁰பின்னும் யாக்கோபு பார்வோனை ஆசீர்வதித்து, அவன் சமுகத்தினின்று புறப்பட்டுப்போனான்.

¹¹And Joseph settled his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

¹¹பார்வோன் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனுக்கும் தன் சகோதரருக்கும் எகிப்துதேசத்திலே நல்ல நாடாகிய ராமசேஸ் என்னும் நாட்டிலே சுதந்திரம் கொடுத்து, அவர்களைக் குடியேற்றினான்.

¹²And Joseph maintained his father, and his brethren, and all his father's household, with bread, according to the number of the little ones.

¹²யோசேப்பு தன் தகப்பனையும் தன் சகோதரரையும் தன் தகப்பனுடைய குடும்பத்தார் அனைவரையும், அவரவர்கள் குடும்பத்திற்குத்தக்கதாய் ஆகாரம் கொடுத்து ஆதரித்துவந்தான்.

¹³And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very grievous; and the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan were exhausted through the famine.

¹³பஞ்சம் மிகவும் கொடிதாயிருந்தது; தேசமெங்கும் ஆகாரம் கிடையாமற்போயிற்று; எகிப்துதேசமும் கானான்தேசமும் பஞ்சத்தினாலே மெலிந்துபோயிற்று.

¹⁴And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought; and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.

¹⁴யோசேப்பு எகிப்துதேசத்திலும் கானான்தேசத்திலுமுள்ள பணத்தையெல்லாம் தானியம் கொண்டவர்களிடத்தில் வாங்கி, அதைப் பார்வோன் அரமனையிலே கொண்டுபோய்ச் சேர்த்தான்.

¹⁵And when money came to an end in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph, saying, Give us bread! for why should we die before thee? for [our] money is all gone.

¹⁵எகிப்துதேசத்திலும் கானான்தேசத்திலுமுள்ள பணம் செலவழிந்தபோது, எகிப்தியர் எல்லாரும் யோசேப்பினிடத்தில் வந்து: எங்களுக்கு ஆகாரம் தாரும்; பணம் இல்லை, அதினால் நாங்கள் உமது சமுகத்தில் சாகவேண்டுமோ என்றார்கள்.

¹⁶And Joseph said, Give your cattle, and I will give you for your cattle, if [your] money be all gone.

¹⁶அதற்கு யோசேப்பு: உங்களிடத்தில் பணம் இல்லாமற்போனால், உங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளைக் கொடுங்கள்; அவைகளுக்குப் பதிலாக உங்களுக்குத் தானியம் கொடுக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

¹⁷And they brought their cattle to Joseph; and Joseph gave them bread for horses, and for flocks of sheep, and for herds of cattle, and for asses; and he fed them with bread for all their cattle that year.

¹⁷அவர்கள் தங்கள் ஆடுமாடு முதலானவைகளை யோசேப்பினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; யோசேப்பு குதிரைகளையும் ஆடுகளையும் மாடுகளையும் கழுதைகளையும் வாங்கிக்கொண்டு, அந்த வருஷம் அவர்களுடைய ஆடுமாடு முதலான எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் பதிலாக அவர்களுக்கு ஆகாரம் கொடுத்து, அவர்களை ஆதரித்தான்.

¹⁸And that year ended; and they came to him the second year, and said to him, We will not hide [it] from my lord that since [our] money is come to an end, and the herds of cattle are in the possession of my lord, nothing is left before my lord but our bodies and our land.

¹⁸அந்த வருஷம் முடிந்தபின், மறுவருஷத்திலே அவர்கள் அவனிடத்தில் வந்து: பணமும் செலவழிந்துபோயிற்று; எங்கள் ஆடுமாடு முதலானவைகளும் எங்கள் ஆண்டவனைச் சேர்ந்தது; எங்கள் சரீரமும் எங்கள் நிலமுமே ஒழிய, எங்கள் ஆண்டவனுக்கு முன்பாக மீதியானது ஒன்றும் இல்லை; இது எங்கள் ஆண்டவனுக்குத் தெரியாத காரியம் அல்ல.

¹⁹Why should we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be bondmen to Pharaoh; and give seed, that we may live, and not die, and that the land be not desolate.

¹⁹நாங்களும் எங்கள் நிலங்களும் உம்முடைய கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக அழிந்து போகலாமா? நீர் எங்களையும் எங்கள் நிலங்களையும் வாங்கிக்கொண்டு, ஆகாரம் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்; நாங்களும் எங்கள் நிலங்களும் பார்வோனுக்கு ஆதீனமாயிருப்போம்; நாங்கள் சாகாமல் உயிரோடிருக்கவும், நிலங்கள் பாழாய்ப் போகாமலிருக்கவும், எங்களுக்கு விதைத்தானியத்தைத் தாரும் என்றார்கள்.

²⁰And Joseph bought all the soil of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them; and the land became Pharaoh's.

²⁰அப்படியே எகிப்தியர் தங்களுக்குப் பஞ்சம் மேலிட்டபடியால் அவரவர் தங்கள் தங்கள் வயல் நிலங்களை விற்றார்கள்; யோசேப்பு எகிப்தின் நிலங்கள் யாவையும் பார்வோனுக்காகக் கொண்டான்; இவ்விதமாய் அந்தப் பூமி பார்வோனுடையதாயிற்று.

²¹And as for the people, he removed them into the cities, from [one] end of the borders of Egypt even to the [other] end of it.

²¹மேலும் அவன் எகிப்தின் ஒரு எல்லைமுதல் மறு எல்லைவரைக்குமுள்ள ஜனங்களை அந்தந்தப் பட்டணங்களில் குடிமாறிப்போகப்பண்ணினான்.

²²Only the land of the priests he did not buy; for the priests had an assigned portion from Pharaoh, and ate their assigned portion which Pharaoh had given them; so they did not sell their land.

²²ஆசாரியருடைய நிலத்தை மாத்திரம் அவன் கொள்ளவில்லை; அது பார்வோனாலே ஆசாரியருக்கு மானியமாகக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருந்ததினாலும், பார்வோன் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த மானியத்தினாலே அவர்கள் ஜீவனம் பண்ணிவந்ததினாலும், அவர்கள் தங்கள் நிலத்தை விற்கவில்லை.

²³And Joseph said to the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and sow the land.

²³பின்னும் யோசேப்பு ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: இதோ, இன்று உங்களையும் உங்கள் நிலங்களையும் பார்வோனுக்காக வாங்கிக்கொண்டேன்; இதோ, உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படுகிற விதைத் தானியம், இதை நிலத்தில் விதையுங்கள்.

²⁴And it shall come to pass in the increase that ye shall give the fifth to Pharaoh, and the four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.

²⁴விளைவில் ஐந்தில் ஒரு பங்கைப் பார்வோனுக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்; மற்ற நாலு பங்கும் வயலுக்கு விதையாகவும் உங்களுக்கும் உங்கள் குடும்பத்தாருக்கும் உங்கள் குழந்தைகளுக்கும் ஆகாரமாகவும் உங்களுடையதாயிருக்கட்டும் என்றான்.

²⁵And they said, Thou hast saved us alive. Let us find favour in the eyes of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's bondmen.

²⁵அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: நீர் எங்கள் பிராணனைக் காப்பாற்றினீர்; எங்கள் ஆண்டவனுடைய கண்களில் எங்களுக்குத் தயவு கிடைக்கவேண்டும்; நாங்கள் பார்வோனுக்கு அடிமைகளாயிருக்கிறோம் என்றார்கள்.

²⁶And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt to this day, [that] the fifth should be for Pharaoh, except the land of the priests: theirs alone did not become Pharaoh's.

²⁶ஐந்தில் ஒன்று பார்வோனுக்குச் சேரும் வாரம் என்று யோசேப்பு இட்ட கட்டளைப்படி எகிப்து தேசத்திலே இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் நடந்துவருகிறது; ஆசாரியரின் நிலம் மாத்திரம் பார்வோனைச் சேராமல் நீங்கலாயிருந்தது.

²⁷And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen; and they had possessions in it, and were fruitful and multiplied exceedingly.

²⁷இஸ்ரவேலர் எகிப்து தேசத்திலுள்ள கோசேன் நாட்டிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள்; அங்கே நிலங்களைக் கையாட்சி செய்து, மிகவும் பலுகிப் பெருகினார்கள்.

²⁸And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years; and the days of Jacob, the years of his life, were a hundred and forty-seven years.

²⁸யாக்கோபு எகிப்து தேசத்திலே பதினேழு வருஷம் இருந்தான்; யாக்கோபுடைய ஆயுசு நாட்கள் நூற்றுநாற்பத்தேழு வருஷம்.

²⁹And the days of Israel approached that he should die. And he called his son Joseph, and said to him, If now I have found favour in thine eyes, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me: bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt;

²⁹இஸ்ரவேல் மரணமடையும் காலம் சமீபித்தது. அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் குமாரனாகிய யோசேப்பை வரவழைத்து, அவனை நோக்கி: என்மேல் உனக்குத் தயவுண்டானால், உன் கையை என் தொடையின்கீழ் வைத்து என்மேல் பட்சமும் உண்மையுமுள்ளவனாயிரு; என்னை எகிப்திலே அடக்கம் பண்ணாதிருப்பாயாக.

³⁰but when I shall lie with my fathers, thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their sepulchre. And he said, I will do according to thy word.

³⁰நான் என் பிதாக்களோடே படுத்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டும்; ஆகையால், நீ என்னை எகிப்திலிருந்து எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களை அடக்கம்பண்ணியிருக்கிற நிலத்திலே என்னையும் அடக்கம்பண்ணு என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: உமது சொற்படி செய்வேன் என்றான்.

³¹And he said, Swear to me; and he swore to him. And Israel worshipped on the bed's head.

³¹அப்பொழுது அவன்: எனக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடு என்றான்; அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்தான். அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் கட்டிலின் தலைமாட்டிலே சாய்ந்து தொழுதுகொண்டான்.
