1A soft answer turneth away fury; but a grievous word stirreth up anger.
1மெதுவான பிரதியுத்தரம் உக்கிரத்தை மாற்றும்; கடுஞ்சொற்களோ கோபத்தை எழுப்பும்.
2The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright; but the mouth of the foolish poureth out folly.
2ஞானிகளின் நாவு அறிவை உபயோகப்படுத்தும்; மூடரின் வாயோ புத்தியீனத்தைக் கக்கும்.
3The eyes of Jehovah are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
3கர்த்தரின் கண்கள் எவ்விடத்திலுமிருந்து, நல்லோரையும் தீயோரையும் நோக்கிப்பார்க்கிறது.
4Gentleness of tongue is a tree of life; but crookedness therein is a breaking of the spirit.
4ஆரோக்கியமுள்ள நாவு ஜீவவிருட்சம்; நாவின் மாறுபாடோ ஆவியை நொறுக்கும்.
5A fool despiseth his father's instruction; but he that regardeth reproof becometh prudent.
5மூடன் தன் தகப்பன் புத்தியை அலட்சியம்பண்ணுகிறான்; கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலைக் கவனித்து நடக்கிறவனோ விவேகி.
6In the house of a righteous [man] is much treasure; but in the revenue of a wicked [man] is disturbance.
6நீதிமானுடைய வீட்டில் அதிக பொக்கிஷமுண்டு; துன்மார்க்கனுடைய வருமானத்திலோ துன்பமுண்டு.
7The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, but not so the heart of the foolish.
7ஞானிகளின் உதடுகள் அறிவை இறைக்கும்; மூடரின் இருதயமோ அப்படியல்ல.
8The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
8துன்மார்க்கருடைய பலி கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானது; செம்மையானவர்களின் ஜெபமோ அவருக்குப் பிரியம்.
9The way of a wicked [man] is an abomination to Jehovah; but him that pursueth righteousness he loveth.
9துன்மார்க்கருடைய வழி கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானது; நீதியைப் பின்பற்றுகிறவனையோ அவர் நேசிக்கிறார்.
10Grievous correction is for him that forsaketh the path; he that hateth reproof shall die.
10வழியை விட்டு விலகுகிறவனுக்குப் புத்திமதி விசனமாயிருக்கும்; கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலை வெறுக்கிறவன் சாவான்.
11Sheol and destruction are before Jehovah; how much more then the hearts of the children of men!
11பாதாளமும் அழிவும் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பிரத்தியட்சமாயிருக்க, மனுபுத்திரருடைய இருதயம் அதிக பிரத்தியட்சமாயிருக்குமல்லவோ?
12A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him; he will not go unto the wise.
12பரியாசக்காரன் தன்னைக் கடிந்துகொள்ளுகிறவனை நேசியான்; ஞானவான்களிடத்தில் போகவுமாட்டான்.
13A joyful heart maketh a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.
13மனமகிழ்ச்சி முகமலர்ச்சியைத் தரும்; மனோதுக்கத்தினாலே ஆவி முறிந்துபோகும்.
14The heart of an intelligent [man] seeketh knowledge; but the mouth of the foolish feedeth on folly.
14புத்திமானுடைய மனம் அறிவைத்தேடும்; மூடரின் வாயோ மதியீனத்தை மேயும்.
15All the days of the afflicted are evil; but a cheerful heart is a continual feast.
15சிறுமைப்பட்டவனுடைய நாட்களெல்லாம் தீங்குள்ளவைகள்; மனரம்மியமோ நித்திய விருந்து.
16Better is little with the fear of Jehovah than great store and disquietude therewith.
16சஞ்சலத்தோடு கூடிய அதிகப்பொருளிலும், கர்த்தரைப் பற்றும் பயத்தோடு கூடிய கொஞ்சப்பொருளே உத்தமம்.
17Better is a meal of herbs where love is, than a fatted ox and hatred therewith.
17பகையோடிருக்கும் கொழுத்த எருதின் கறியைப்பார்க்கிலும், சிநேகத்தோடிருக்கும் இலைக்கறியே நல்லது.
18A furious man stirreth up contention; but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
18கோபக்காரன் சண்டையை எழுப்புகிறான்; நீடியசாந்தமுள்ளவனோ சண்டையை அமர்த்துகிறான்.
19The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; but the path of the upright is made plain.
19சோம்பேறியின் வழி முள்வேலிக்குச் சமானம்; நீதிமானுடைய வழியோ ராஜபாதை.
20A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
20ஞானமுள்ள மகன் தகப்பனைச் சந்தோஷப்படுத்துகிறான்; மதியற்ற மனுஷனோ தன் தாயை அலட்சியம்பண்ணுகிறான்.
21Folly is joy to him that is void of sense; but a man of understanding regulateth his walk.
21மூடத்தனம் புத்தியீனனுக்குச் சந்தோஷம்; புத்திமானோ தன் நடக்கையைச் செம்மைப்படுத்துகிறான்.
22Without counsel purposes are disappointed; but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
22ஆலோசனையில்லாமையால் எண்ணங்கள் சித்தியாமற்போகும்; ஆலோசனைக்காரர் அநேகர் இருந்தால் அவைகள் உறுதிப்படும்.
23A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth; and a word in its season, how good is it!
23மனுஷனுக்குத் தன் வாய்மொழியினால் மகிழ்ச்சியுண்டாகும்; ஏற்றகாலத்தில் சொன்ன வார்த்தை எவ்வளவு நல்லது!
24The path of life is upwards for the wise, that he may depart from Sheol beneath.
24கீழான பாதாளத்தை விட்டு விலகும்படி, விவேகிக்கு ஜீவவழியானது உன்னதத்தை நோக்கும் வழியாம்.
25Jehovah plucketh up the house of the proud; but he establisheth the boundary of the widow.
25அகங்காரியின் வீட்டைக் கர்த்தர் பிடுங்கிப்போடுவார்; விதவையின் எல்லையையோ நிலைப்படுத்துவார்.
26The thoughts of the evil [man] are an abomination to Jehovah; but pure words are pleasant.
26துன்மார்க்கருடைய நினைவுகள் கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானவைகள்; சுத்தவான்களுடைய வார்த்தைகளோ இன்பமானவைகள்.
27He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
27பொருளாசைக்காரன் தன் வீட்டைக் கலைக்கிறான்; பரிதானங்களை வெறுக்கிறவனோ பிழைப்பான்.
28The heart of a righteous [man] studieth to answer; but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
28நீதிமானுடைய மனம் பிரதியுத்தரம் சொல்ல யோசிக்கும்; துன்மார்க்கனுடைய வாயோ தீமைகளைக் கொப்பளிக்கும்.
29Jehovah is far from the wicked; but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
29துன்மார்க்கருக்குக் கர்த்தர் தூரமாயிருக்கிறார்; நீதிமான்களின் ஜெபத்தையோ கேட்கிறார்.
30That which enlighteneth the eyes rejoiceth the heart; good tidings make the bones fat.
30கண்களின் ஒளி இருதயத்தைப் பூரிப்பாக்கும்; நற்செய்தி எலும்புகளைப் புஷ்டியாக்கும்.
31The ear that heareth the reproof of life shall abide among the wise.
31ஜீவனுக்கேதுவான கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும் காது ஞானிகளிடத்தே தங்கும்.
32He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul; but he that heareth reproof getteth sense.
32புத்திமதியைத் தள்ளிவிடுகிறவன் தன் ஆத்துமாவை வெறுக்கிறான்; கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலைக் கேட்கிறவனோ ஞானமடைவான்.
33The fear of Jehovah is the discipline of wisdom, and before honour [goeth] humility.
33கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதல் ஞானத்தைப் போதிக்கும்; மேன்மைக்கு முன்னானது தாழ்மை.
