1My son, attend unto my wisdom, incline thine ear to my understanding;
1என் மகனே, என் ஞானத்தைக் கவனித்து, என் புத்திக்கு உன் செவியைச் சாய்;
2that thou mayest keep reflection, and that thy lips may preserve knowledge.
2அப்பொழுது நீ விவேகத்தைப் பேணிக்கொள்வாய், உன் உதடுகள் அறிவைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளும்.
3For the lips of the strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil;
3பரஸ்திரீயின் உதடுகள் தேன்கூடுபோல் ஒழுகும்; அவள் வாய் எண்ணெயிலும் மிருதுவாயிருக்கும்.
4but her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
4அவள் செய்கையின் முடிவோ எட்டியைப்போலக் கசப்பும், இருபுறமும் கருக்குள்ள பட்டயம்போல் கூர்மையுமாயிருக்கும்.
5Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Sheol.
5அவள் காலடிகள் மரணத்துக்கு இறங்கும்; அவள் நடைகள் பாதாளத்தைப் பற்றிப்போகும்.
6Lest she should ponder the path of life, her ways wander, she knoweth not [whither].
6நீ ஜீவமார்க்கத்தைச் சிந்தித்துக் கொள்ளாதபடிக்கு, அவளுடைய நடைகள் மாறிமாறி விகாரப்படும்; அவைகளை அறியமுடி.யாது.
7And now, children, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
7ஆதலால் பிள்ளைகளே; இப்பொழுது எனக்குச் செவிகொடுங்கள்; என் வாயின் வசனங்களை விட்டு நீங்காதிருங்கள்.
8Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
8உன் வழியை அவளுக்குத் தூரப்படுத்து; அவளுடைய வீட்டின் வாசலைக் கிட்டிச் சேராதே.
9lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel;
9சேர்ந்தால் உன் மேன்மையை அந்நியர்களுக்கும், உன் ஆயுசின் காலத்தைக் கொடூரருக்கும் கொடுத்துவிடுவாய்.
10lest strangers be filled with thy wealth, and the fruits of thy toil [come] into the house of a stranger;
10அந்நியர் உன் செல்வத்தினால் திருப்தியடைவார்கள்; உன் பிரயாசத்தின்பலன் புறத்தியாருடைய வீட்டில் சேரும்.
11and thou mourn in thine end, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed;
11முடிவிலே உன் மாம்சமும் உன் சரீரமும் உருவழியும்போது நீ துக்கித்து:
12and thou say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof!
12ஐயோ, போதகத்தை நான் வெறுத்தேனே, கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலை என் மனம் அலட்சியம் பண்ணினதே!
13and I have not hearkened unto the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to those that instructed me;
13என் போதகரின் சொல்லை நான் கேளாமலும், எனக்கு உபதேசம்பண்ணினவர்களுக்கு என் செவியைச் சாயாமலும் போனேனே!
14I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
14சபைக்குள்ளும் சங்கத்துக்குள்ளும் கொஞ்சங்குறைய எல்லாத் தீமைக்குமுள்ளானேனே! என்று முறையிடுவாய்.
15Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
15உன் கிணற்றிலுள்ள தண்ணீரையும், உன் துரவில் ஊறுகிற ஜலத்தையும் பானம்பண்ணு.
16Thy fountains shall be poured forth, as water-brooks in the broadways.
16உன் ஊற்றுகள் வெளியிலும் உன் வாய்க்கால்கள் வீதிகளிலும் பாய்வதாக.
17Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
17அவைகள் அந்நியருக்கும் உரியவைகளாயிராமல், உனக்கே உரியவைகளாயிருப்பதாக.
18Let thy fountain be blessed; and have joy of the wife of thy youth.
18உன் ஊற்றுக்கண் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படுவதாக; உன் இளவயதின் மனைவியோடே மகிழ்ந்திரு.
19As a lovely hind and a graceful roe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times: be thou ravished continually with her love.
19அவளே நேசிக்கப்படத்தக்க பெண்மானும், அழகான வரையாடும் போலிருப்பாளாக; அவளுடைய ஸ்தனங்களே எப்பொழுதும் உன்னைத் திருப்திசெய்வதாக; அவளுடைய நேசத்தால் நீ எப்பொழுதும் மயங்கியிருப்பாயாக.
20And why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
20என் மகனே, நீ பரஸ்திரீயின் மேல் மயங்கித் திரிந்து, அந்நிய ஸ்திரீயின் மார்பைத் தழுவவேண்டியதென்ன?
21For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah, and he pondereth all his paths.
21மனுஷனுடைய வழிகள் கர்த்தரின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக இருக்கிறது; அவனுடைய வழிகளெல்லாவற்றையும் அவர் சீர்தூக்கிப்பார்க்கிறார்.
22His own iniquities shall take the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.
22துன்மார்க்கனை அவனுடைய அக்கிரமங்களே பிடித்துக்கொள்ளும்; தன் பாவக்கயிறுகளால் கட்டப்படுவான்.
23He shall die for want of discipline; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
23அவன் புத்தியைக் கேளாததினால் மடிந்து, தன் மதிகேட்டின் மிகுதியினால் மயங்கிப்போவான்.
