¹In [the] beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

¹ในเริ่มแรกนั้นพระวาทะทรงเป็นอยู่แล้ว และพระวาทะทรงอยู่กับพระเจ้า และพระวาทะทรงเป็นพระเจ้า

²*He* was in the beginning with God.

²ในเริ่มแรกนั้นพระองค์นั้นทรงอยู่กับพระเจ้า

³All things received being through him, and without him not one [thing] received being which has received being.

³พระองค์ทรงสร้างสิ่งทั้งปวงขึ้นมา และในบรรดาสิ่งที่เป็นมานั้น ไม่มีสักสิ่งเดียวที่ได้เป็นมานอกเหนือพระองค์

⁴In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

⁴ในพระองค์มีชีวิต และชีวิตนั้นเป็นความสว่างของมนุษย์ทั้งปวง

⁵And the light appears in darkness, and the darkness apprehended it not.

⁵ความสว่างนั้นส่องเข้ามาในความมืด และความมืดหาได้เข้าใจความสว่างไม่

⁶There was a man sent from God, his name John.

⁶มีชายคนหนึ่งที่พระเจ้าทรงใช้มา ชื่อยอห์น

⁷He came for witness, that he might witness concerning the light, that all might believe through him.

⁷ท่านผู้นี้มาเพื่อเป็นพยาน เพื่อเป็นพยานถึงความสว่างนั้น เพื่อคนทั้งปวงจะได้มีความเชื่อเพราะท่าน

⁸*He* was not the light, but that he might witness concerning the light.

⁸ท่านไม่ใช่ความสว่างนั้น แต่ทรงใช้มาเพื่อเป็นพยานถึงความสว่างนั้น

⁹The true light was that which, coming into the world, lightens every man.

⁹เป็นความสว่างแท้นั้น ซึ่งส่องสว่างแก่ทุกคนที่เข้ามาในโลก

¹⁰He was in the world, and the world had [its] being through him, and the world knew him not.

¹⁰พระองค์ทรงอยู่ในโลก และพระองค์ได้ทรงสร้างโลก และโลกหาได้รู้จักพระองค์ไม่

¹¹He came to his own, and his own received him not;

¹¹พระองค์ได้เสด็จมายังพวกของพระองค์ และพวกของพระองค์นั้นหาได้ต้อนรับพระองค์ไม่

¹²but as many as received him, to them gave he [the] right to be children of God, to those that believe on his name;

¹²แต่ส่วนบรรดาผู้ที่ต้อนรับพระองค์ พระองค์ทรงประทานอำนาจให้เป็นบุตรของพระเจ้า คือคนทั้งหลายที่เชื่อในพระนามของพระองค์

¹³who have been born, not of blood, nor of flesh's will, nor of man's will, but of God.

¹³ซึ่งมิได้เกิดจากเลือด หรือความประสงค์ของเนื้อหนัง หรือความประสงค์ของมนุษย์ แต่เกิดจากพระเจ้า

¹⁴And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we have contemplated his glory, a glory as of an only-begotten with a father), full of grace and truth;

¹⁴พระวาทะได้ทรงบังเกิดเป็นเนื้อหนัง และทรงอยู่ท่ามกลางเรา (และเราทั้งหลายได้เห็นสง่าราศีของพระองค์ คือสง่าราศีอันสมกับพระบุตรองค์เดียวของพระบิดา) บริบูรณ์ด้วยพระคุณและความจริง

¹⁵(John bears witness of him, and he has cried, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that comes after me is preferred before me, for he was before me;)

¹⁵ยอห์นได้เป็นพยานถึงพระองค์และร้องประกาศว่า "นี่แหละคือพระองค์ผู้ที่ข้าพเจ้าได้กล่าวถึงว่า พระองค์ผู้เสด็จมาภายหลังข้าพเจ้าทรงเป็นใหญ่กว่าข้าพเจ้า เพราะว่าพระองค์ทรงดำรงอยู่ก่อนข้าพเจ้า"

¹⁶for of his fulness we all have received, and grace upon grace.

¹⁶และเราทั้งหลายได้รับจากความบริบูรณ์ของพระองค์ เป็นพระคุณซ้อนพระคุณ

¹⁷For the law was given by Moses: grace and truth subsists through Jesus Christ.

¹⁷เพราะว่าได้ทรงประทานพระราชบัญญัตินั้นทางโมเสส ส่วนพระคุณและความจริงมาทางพระเยซูคริสต์

¹⁸No one has seen God at any time; the only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, *he* hath declared [him].

¹⁸ไม่มีใครเคยเห็นพระเจ้าเลย พระบุตรองค์เดียวผู้ทรงสถิตอยู่ในพระทรวงของพระบิดา พระองค์ได้ทรงสำแดงพระเจ้าแล้ว

¹⁹And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites that they might ask him, Thou, who art thou?

¹⁹นี่แหละเป็นคำพยานของยอห์น เมื่อพวกยิวส่งพวกปุโรหิตและพวกเลวีจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็มไปถามท่านว่า "ท่านคือผู้ใด"

²⁰And he acknowledged and denied not, and acknowledged, I am not the Christ.

²⁰ท่านได้ยอมรับ และมิได้ปฏิเสธ แต่ได้ยอมรับว่า "ข้าพเจ้าไม่ใช่พระคริสต์"

²¹And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he says, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.

²¹เขาทั้งหลายจึงถามท่านว่า "ถ้าเช่นนั้นท่านเป็นใครเล่า ท่านเป็นเอลียาห์หรือ" ท่านตอบว่า "ข้าพเจ้าไม่ใช่เอลียาห์" "ท่านเป็นศาสดาพยากรณ์ผู้นั้นหรือ" และท่านตอบว่า "มิได้"

²²They said therefore to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

²²คนเหล่านั้นจึงถามท่านว่า "ท่านเป็นใคร เพื่อเราจะได้ตอบผู้ที่ใช้เรามา ท่านกล่าวว่าท่านเป็นใคร"

²³He said, I [am] [the] voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the path of [the] Lord, as said Esaias the prophet.

²³ท่านตอบว่า "เราเป็นเสียงของผู้ที่ร้องในถิ่นทุรกันดารว่า `จงกระทำมรรคาขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าให้ตรงไป' ตามที่อิสยาห์ศาสดาพยากรณ์ได้กล่าวไว้"

²⁴And they were sent from among the Pharisees.

²⁴ฝ่ายผู้ที่ได้รับใช้มานั้นเป็นของพวกฟาริสี

²⁵And they asked him and said to him, Why baptisest thou then, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elias, nor the prophet?

²⁵เขาเหล่านั้นก็ได้ถามท่านว่า "ถ้าท่านไม่ใช่พระคริสต์ หรือเอลียาห์ หรือศาสดาพยากรณ์ผู้นั้นแล้ว ทำไมท่านจึงทำพิธีบัพติศมา"

²⁶John answered them saying, I baptise with water. In the midst of you stands, whom ye do not know,

²⁶ยอห์นได้ตอบเขาเหล่านั้นว่า "ข้าพเจ้าให้บัพติศมาด้วยน้ำ แต่มีพระองค์หนึ่งซึ่งประทับอยู่ในหมู่พวกท่านนั้น ท่านไม่รู้จัก

²⁷he who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to unloose.

²⁷พระองค์นั้นแหละ ผู้เสด็จมาภายหลังข้าพเจ้าทรงเป็นใหญ่กว่าข้าพเจ้า แม้สายรัดฉลองพระบาทของพระองค์ ข้าพเจ้าก็ไม่บังควรที่จะแก้"

²⁸These things took place in Bethany, across the Jordan, where John was baptising.

²⁸เหตุการณ์นี้เกิดขึ้นที่เบธาบาราฟากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนข้างโน้น อันเป็นที่ซึ่งยอห์นกำลังให้บัพติศมาอยู่

²⁹On the morrow he sees Jesus coming to him, and says, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

²⁹วันรุ่งขึ้นยอห์นเห็นพระเยซูกำลังเสด็จมาทางท่าน ท่านจึงกล่าวว่า "จงดูพระเมษโปดกของพระเจ้า ผู้ทรงรับความผิดบาปของโลกไปเสีย

³⁰He it is of whom I said, A man comes after me who takes a place before me, because he *was* before me;

³⁰พระองค์นี้แหละที่ข้าพเจ้าได้กล่าวว่า `ภายหลังข้าพเจ้าจะมีผู้หนึ่งเสด็จมาเป็นใหญ่กว่าข้าพเจ้า เพราะว่าพระองค์ทรงดำรงอยู่ก่อนข้าพเจ้า'

³¹and I knew him not; but that he might be manifested to Israel, therefore have I come baptising with water.

³¹ข้าพเจ้าเองก็ไม่ได้รู้จักพระองค์ แต่เพื่อให้พระองค์ทรงเป็นที่ประจักษ์แก่พวกอิสราเอล ข้าพเจ้าจึงได้มาให้บัพติศมาด้วยน้ำ"

³²And John bore witness, saying, I beheld the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it abode upon him.

³²และยอห์นกล่าวเป็นพยานว่า "ข้าพเจ้าเห็นพระวิญญาณเหมือนดังนกเขาเสด็จลงมาจากสวรรค์ และทรงสถิตบนพระองค์

³³And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptise with water, *he* said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, he it is who baptises with [the] Holy Spirit.

³³ข้าพเจ้าเองไม่รู้จักพระองค์ แต่พระองค์ ผู้ได้ทรงใช้ให้ข้าพเจ้าให้บัพติศมาด้วยน้ำ พระองค์นั้นได้ตรัสกับข้าพเจ้าว่า `เมื่อเจ้าเห็นพระวิญญาณเสด็จลงมาและสถิตอยู่บนผู้ใด ผู้นั้นแหละเป็นผู้ให้บัพติศมาด้วยพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์'

³⁴And I have seen and borne witness that this is the Son of God.

³⁴และข้าพเจ้าก็ได้เห็นแล้ว และได้เป็นพยานว่า พระองค์นี้แหละ เป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า"

³⁵Again, on the morrow, there stood John and two of his disciples.

³⁵รุ่งขึ้นอีกวันหนึ่งยอห์นกำลังยืนอยู่กับสาวกของท่านสองคน

³⁶And, looking at Jesus as he walked, he says, Behold the Lamb of God.

³⁶และท่านมองดูพระเยซูขณะที่พระองค์ทรงดำเนินและกล่าวว่า "จงดูพระเมษโปดกของพระเจ้า"

³⁷And the two disciples heard him speaking, and followed Jesus.

³⁷สาวกสองคนนั้นได้ยินท่านพูดเช่นนี้ เขาจึงติดตามพระเยซูไป

³⁸But Jesus having turned, and seeing them following, says to them, What seek ye? And *they* said to him, Rabbi (which, being interpreted, signifies Teacher), where abidest thou?

³⁸พระเยซูทรงเหลียวหลังและทอดพระเนตรเห็นเขาตามพระองค์มา จึงตรัสถามเขาว่า "ท่านหาอะไร" และเขาทั้งสองทูลพระองค์ว่า "รับบี" (ซึ่งแปลว่าอาจารย์) "ท่านอยู่ที่ไหน"

³⁹He says to them, Come and see. They went therefore, and saw where he abode; and they abode with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.

³⁹พระองค์ตรัสตอบเขาว่า "มาดูเถิด" เขาก็ไปและเห็นที่ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงอาศัยและวันนั้นเขาก็ได้พักอยู่กับพระองค์ เพราะขณะนั้นประมาณสี่โมงเย็นแล้ว

⁴⁰Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard [this] from John and followed him.

⁴⁰คนหนึ่งในสองคนที่ได้ยินยอห์นพูด และได้ติดตามพระองค์ไปนั้น คืออันดรูว์น้องชายของซีโมนเปโตร

⁴¹He first finds his own brother Simon, and says to him, We have found the Messias (which being interpreted is Christ).

⁴¹แล้วอันดรูว์ก็ไปหาซีโมนพี่ชายของตนก่อน และบอกเขาว่า "เราได้พบพระเมสสิยาห์แล้ว" ซึ่งแปลว่าพระคริสต์

⁴²And he led him to Jesus. Jesus looking at him said, Thou art Simon, the son of Jonas; thou shalt be called Cephas (which interpreted is stone).

⁴²อันดรูว์จึงพาซีโมนไปเฝ้าพระเยซู และเมื่อพระเยซูทรงทอดพระเนตรเขาแล้วจึงตรัสว่า "ท่านคือซีโมนบุตรชายโยนาห์ เขาจะเรียกท่านว่าเคฟาส" ซึ่งแปลว่าศิลา

⁴³On the morrow he would go forth into Galilee, and Jesus finds Philip, and says to him, Follow me.

⁴³วันรุ่งขึ้นพระเยซูตั้งพระทัยจะเสด็จไปยังแคว้นกาลิลี และพระองค์ทรงพบฟีลิปจึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "จงตามเรามา"

⁴⁴And Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.

⁴⁴ฟีลิปมาจากเบธไซดา เมืองของอันดรูว์และเปโตร

⁴⁵Philip finds Nathanael, and says to him, We have found him of whom Moses wrote in the law, and the prophets, Jesus, the son of Joseph, who is from Nazareth.

⁴⁵ฟีลิปไปหานาธานาเอลและบอกเขาว่า "เราได้พบพระองค์ผู้ที่โมเสสได้กล่าวถึงในพระราชบัญญัติ และที่พวกศาสดาพยากรณ์ได้กล่าวถึง คือพระเยซูชาวนาซาเร็ธบุตรชายโยเซฟ"

⁴⁶And Nathanael said to him, Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Philip says to him, Come and see.

⁴⁶นาธานาเอลถามเขาว่า "สิ่งดีอันใดจะมาจากนาซาเร็ธได้หรือ" ฟีลิปตอบเขาว่า "มาดูเถิด"

⁴⁷Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and says of him, Behold [one] truly an Israelite, in whom there is no guile.

⁴⁷พระเยซูทอดพระเนตรเห็นนาธานาเอลมาหาพระองค์จึงตรัสถึงเรื่องตัวเขาว่า "ดูเถิด ชนอิสราเอลแท้ ในตัวเขาไม่มีอุบาย"

⁴⁸Nathanael says to him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.

⁴⁸นาธานาเอลทูลถามพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์ทรงรู้จักข้าพระองค์ได้อย่างไร" พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "ก่อนที่ฟีลิปจะเรียกท่าน เมื่อท่านอยู่ที่ใต้ต้นมะเดื่อนั้น เราเห็นท่าน"

⁴⁹Nathanael answered and said to him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the King of Israel.

⁴⁹นาธานาเอลทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "รับบี พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า พระองค์ทรงเป็นกษัตริย์ของชนชาติอิสราเอล"

⁵⁰Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, believest thou? Thou shalt see greater things than these.

⁵⁰พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "เพราะเราบอกท่านว่า เราเห็นท่านอยู่ใต้ต้นมะเดื่อนั้น ท่านจึงเชื่อหรือ ท่านจะได้เห็นเหตุการณ์ใหญ่กว่านั้นอีก"

⁵¹And he says to him, Verily, verily, I say to you, Henceforth ye shall see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of man.

⁵¹และพระองค์ตรัสกับเขาว่า "เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า ภายหลังท่านจะได้เห็นท้องฟ้าเปิดออก และเหล่าทูตสวรรค์ของพระเจ้าขึ้นและลงอยู่เหนือบุตรมนุษย์"
