¹And it came to pass as he was in a certain place praying, when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray, even as John also taught his disciples.

¹ต่อมาเมื่อพระองค์ทรงอธิษฐานอยู่ในที่แห่งหนึ่ง พอจบแล้วสาวกของพระองค์คนหนึ่งทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า ขอสอนพวกข้าพระองค์ให้อธิษฐาน เหมือนยอห์นได้สอนพวกศิษย์ของตน"

²And he said to them, When ye pray, say, Father, thy name be hallowed; thy kingdom come;

²พระองค์จึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "เมื่อท่านอธิษฐานจงว่า `ข้าแต่พระบิดาของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย ผู้สถิตในสวรรค์ ขอให้พระนามของพระองค์เป็นที่เคารพสักการะ ขอให้อาณาจักรของพระองค์มาตั้งอยู่ น้ำพระทัยของพระองค์สำเร็จในสวรรค์อย่างไร ก็ให้สำเร็จบนแผ่นดินโลกเหมือนกันอย่างนั้น

³give us our needed bread for each day;

³ขอทรงโปรดประทานอาหารประจำวันแก่ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายทุกๆวัน

⁴and remit us our sins, for we also remit to every one indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation.

⁴ขอทรงโปรดยกบาปผิดของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย ด้วยว่าข้าพระองค์ยกความผิดของทุกคนที่ทำผิดต่อข้าพระองค์นั้น ขออย่าทรงนำข้าพระองค์เข้าไปในการทดลอง แต่ขอให้ข้าพระองค์พ้นจากสิ่งชั่วร้าย'"

⁵And he said to them, Who among you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight and say to him, Friend, let me have three loaves,

⁵พระองค์ตรัสแก่เขาว่า "ผู้ใดในพวกท่านมีมิตรสหายคนหนึ่ง และจะไปหามิตรสหายนั้นในเวลาเที่ยงคืนพูดกับเขาว่า `เพื่อนเอ๋ย ขอให้ฉันยืมขนมปังสามก้อนเถิด

⁶since a friend of mine on a journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him;

⁶เพราะเพื่อนของฉันคนหนึ่งเพิ่งเดินทางมาหาฉัน และฉันไม่มีอะไรจะให้เขารับประทาน'

⁷and he within answering should say, Do not disturb me; the door is already shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise up to give [it] thee?

⁷ฝ่ายมิตรสหายที่อยู่ข้างในจะตอบว่า `อย่ารบกวนฉันเลย ประตูก็ปิดเสียแล้ว ทั้งพวกลูกก็นอนร่วมเตียงกับฉันแล้ว ฉันจะลุกขึ้นหยิบให้ท่านไม่ได้'

⁸-- I say to you, Although he will not get up and give [them] to him because he is his friend, because of his shamelessness, at any rate, he will rise and give him as many as he wants.

⁸เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า แม้เขาจะไม่ลุกขึ้นหยิบให้คนนั้นเพราะเป็นมิตรสหายกัน แต่ว่าเพราะวิงวอนมากเข้า เขาจึงจะลุกขึ้นหยิบให้ตามที่เขาต้องการ

⁹And *I* say to you, Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.

⁹เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า จงขอแล้วจะได้ จงหาแล้วจะพบ จงเคาะแล้วจะเปิดให้แก่ท่าน

¹⁰For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it will be opened.

¹⁰เพราะว่าทุกคนที่ขอก็จะได้ ทุกคนที่แสวงหาก็จะพบ และทุกคนที่เคาะก็จะเปิดให้เขา

¹¹But of whom of you that is a father shall a son ask bread, and [the father] shall give him a stone? or also a fish, and instead of a fish shall give him a serpent?

¹¹มีผู้ใดในพวกท่านที่เป็นบิดา ถ้าบุตรขอขนมปังจะเอาก้อนหินให้เขาหรือ หรือถ้าขอปลาจะเอางูให้เขาแทนปลาหรือ

¹²or if also he shall ask an egg, shall give him a scorpion?

¹²หรือถ้าเขาขอไข่จะเอาแมงป่องให้เขาหรือ

¹³If therefore *ye*, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much rather shall the Father who is of heaven give [the] Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

¹³เพราะฉะนั้น ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายเองผู้เป็นคนชั่ว ยังรู้จักให้ของดีแก่บุตรของตน ยิ่งกว่านั้นสักเท่าใด พระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์ จะทรงประทานพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์แก่ผู้ที่ขอต่อพระองค์"

¹⁴And he was casting out a demon, and it was dumb; and it came to pass, the demon being gone out, the dumb [man] spoke. And the crowds wondered.

¹⁴พระองค์ทรงกำลังขับผีใบ้ และต่อมาเมื่อผีออกแล้ว คนใบ้จึงพูดได้ และประชาชนก็ประหลาดใจ

¹⁵But some from among them said, By Beelzebub the prince of the demons casts he out demons.

¹⁵แต่บางคนในพวกเขาพูดว่า "คนนี้ขับผีออกได้โดยใช้อำนาจของเบเอลเซบูลนายผีนั้น"

¹⁶And others tempting [him] sought from him a sign out of heaven.

¹⁶คนอื่นๆทดลองพระองค์ โดยขอจากพระองค์ให้เห็นหมายสำคัญจากสวรรค์

¹⁷But *he*, knowing their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation: and a house set against a house falls;

¹⁷แต่พระองค์ทรงทราบความคิดของเขา จึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "ราชอาณาจักรใดๆซึ่งแตกแยกกันเองก็จะรกร้างไป ครัวเรือนใดๆซึ่งแตกแยกกับครัวเรือนก็จะล่มสลาย

¹⁸and if also Satan is divided against himself, how shall his kingdom subsist? because ye say that I cast out demons by Beelzebub.

¹⁸และถ้าซาตานแก่งแย่งกันระหว่างมันเอง อาณาจักรของมันจะตั้งอยู่อย่างไรได้ เพราะท่านทั้งหลายว่าเราขับผีออกโดยเบเอลเซบูล

¹⁹But if *I* by Beelzebub cast out demons, your sons -- by whom do they cast [them] out? For this reason *they* shall be your judges.

¹⁹ถ้าเราขับผีออกโดยเบเอลเซบูลนั้น พวกพ้องของท่านทั้งหลายขับมันออกโดยอำนาจของใครเล่า เหตุฉะนั้นพวกพ้องของท่านเองจะเป็นผู้ตัดสินกล่าวโทษพวกท่าน

²⁰But if by the finger of God I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God is come upon you.

²⁰แต่ถ้าเราขับผีออกด้วยนิ้วพระหัตถ์ของพระเจ้า อาณาจักรของพระเจ้าก็มาถึงท่านแล้ว

²¹When the strong [man] armed keeps his own house, his goods are in peace;

²¹เมื่อผู้มีกำลังมากคนหนึ่งถืออาวุธเฝ้าบ้านของตนอยู่ สิ่งของของเขาก็ปลอดภัย

²²but when the stronger than he coming upon [him] overcomes him, he takes away his panoply in which he trusted, and he will divide the spoil [he has taken] from him.

²²แต่เมื่อคนมีกำลังมากกว่าเขามาต่อสู้ชนะเขา คนนั้นก็ชิงเอาเครื่องอาวุธที่เขาได้วางใจนั้นไปเสีย แล้วแบ่งปันของที่เขาได้ริบเอาไปนั้น

²³He that is not with me is against me, and he that gathers not with me scatters.

²³ผู้ใดไม่อยู่ฝ่ายเราก็เป็นปฏิปักษ์ต่อเรา และผู้ใดไม่รวบรวมไว้กับเราก็เป็นผู้กระทำให้กระจัดกระจายไป

²⁴When the unclean spirit has gone out of the man, he goes through dry places seeking rest; and not finding [any] he says, I will return to my house whence I came out.

²⁴เมื่อผีโสโครกออกมาจากผู้ใดแล้ว มันก็ท่องเที่ยวไปในที่กันดารเพื่อแสวงหาที่หยุดพัก และเมื่อไม่พบมันจึงกล่าวว่า `ข้าจะกลับไปยังเรือนของข้าที่ได้ออกมานั้น'

²⁵And having come, he finds it swept and adorned.

²⁵และเมื่อมาถึงก็เห็นเรือนนั้นกวาดและตกแต่งไว้แล้ว

²⁶Then he goes and takes seven other spirits worse than himself, and entering in, they dwell there; and the last condition of that man becomes worse than the first.

²⁶มันจึงไปรับเอาผีอื่นอีกเจ็ดผีร้ายกว่ามันเอง แล้วก็เข้าไปอาศัยอยู่ที่นั่น และในที่สุดคนนั้นก็เลวร้ายกว่าตอนแรก"

²⁷And it came to pass as he spake these things, a certain woman, lifting up her voice out of the crowd, said to him, Blessed is the womb that has borne thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

²⁷ต่อมาเมื่อพระองค์ยังตรัสคำเหล่านั้น มีผู้หญิงคนหนึ่งในหมู่ประชาชนร้องทูลพระองค์ว่า "ครรภ์ซึ่งปฏิสนธิพระองค์และหัวนมที่พระองค์เสวยนั้นก็เป็นสุข"

²⁸But *he* said, Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep [it].

²⁸แต่พระองค์ตรัสว่า "มิใช่เช่นนั้น แต่คนทั้งหลายที่ได้ยินพระวจนะของพระเจ้า และได้ถือรักษาพระวจนะนั้นไว้ ก็เป็นสุข"

²⁹But as the crowds thronged together, he began to say, This generation is a wicked generation: it seeks a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it but the sign of Jonas.

²⁹เมื่อคนทั้งปวงประชุมแน่นขึ้น พระองค์ตั้งต้นตรัสว่า "คนยุคนี้เป็นคนชั่ว มีแต่แสวงหาหมายสำคัญ และจะไม่โปรดให้หมายสำคัญแก่เขา เว้นไว้แต่หมายสำคัญของโยนาห์ศาสดาพยากรณ์เท่านั้น

³⁰For as Jonas was a sign to the Ninevites, thus shall also the Son of man be to this generation.

³⁰ด้วยว่าโยนาห์ได้เป็นหมายสำคัญแก่ชาวนีนะเวห์ฉันใด บุตรมนุษย์จะเป็นหมายสำคัญแก่คนยุคนี้ฉันนั้น

³¹A queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, more than Solomon is here.

³¹นางกษัตริย์ฝ่ายทิศใต้จะลุกขึ้นในวันพิพากษาพร้อมกับคนยุคนี้ และจะกล่าวโทษคนในยุคนี้ ด้วยว่าพระนางนั้นได้มาจากที่สุดปลายแผ่นดินโลกเพื่อจะฟังสติปัญญาของซาโลมอน และดูเถิด ซึ่งใหญ่กว่าซาโลมอนก็มีอยู่ที่นี่

³²Men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and behold, more than Jonas is here.

³²ชนชาวนีนะเวห์จะลุกขึ้นในวันพิพากษาพร้อมกับคนยุคนี้ และจะกล่าวโทษคนในยุคนี้ ด้วยว่าชาวนีนะเวห์ได้กลับใจใหม่เพราะคำประกาศของโยนาห์ และดูเถิด ซึ่งใหญ่กว่าโยนาห์มีอยู่ที่นี่

³³But no one having lit a lamp sets it in secret, nor under the corn-measure, but on the lamp-stand, that they who enter in may see the light.

³³ไม่มีผู้ใดเมื่อจุดเทียนแล้วจะตั้งไว้ในที่กำบัง หรือเอาถังครอบไว้ แต่ตั้งไว้บนเชิงเทียน เพื่อคนทั้งหลายที่เข้ามาจะเห็นแสงสว่างได้

³⁴The lamp of the body is thine eye: when thine eye is simple, thy whole body also is light; but when it is wicked, thy body also is dark.

³⁴ตาเป็นประทีปของร่างกาย เหตุฉะนั้นเมื่อตาของท่านดี ทั้งตัวก็พลอยสว่างไปด้วย แต่เมื่อตาของท่านชั่ว ทั้งตัวของท่านก็พลอยมืดไปด้วย

³⁵See therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.

³⁵เหตุฉะนั้น จงระวังให้ดีไม่ให้ความสว่างซึ่งอยู่ในท่านเป็นความมืดนั่นเอง

³⁶If therefore thy whole body [is] light, not having any part dark, it shall be all light as when the lamp lights thee with its brightness.

³⁶เหตุฉะนั้น ถ้ากายทั้งสิ้นของท่านเต็มด้วยความสว่าง ไม่มีที่มืดเลย ก็จะสว่างตลอด เหมือนอย่างแสงสว่างของเทียนที่ส่องมาให้ท่าน"

³⁷But as he spoke, a certain Pharisee asked him that he would dine with him; and entering in he placed himself at table.

³⁷เมื่อพระองค์ยังตรัสอยู่ คนหนึ่งในพวกฟาริสีอ้อนวอนพระองค์ให้เสวยกับเขา พระองค์จึงเสด็จเข้าไปทรงเอนพระกายลง

³⁸But the Pharisee seeing [it] wondered that he had not first washed before dinner.

³⁸ฝ่ายคนฟาริสีเมื่อเห็นพระองค์มิได้ทรงล้างก่อนเสวยก็ประหลาดใจ

³⁹But the Lord said to him, Now do ye Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but your inward [parts] are full of plunder and wickedness.

³⁹องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสกับเขาว่า "เจ้าพวกฟาริสีย่อมชำระถ้วยชามภายนอก แต่ภายในของเจ้าเต็มไปด้วยความโลภและความชั่วร้าย

⁴⁰Fools, has not he who has made the outside made the inside also?

⁴⁰คนโฉดเขลา ผู้ที่ได้สร้างภายนอกก็ได้สร้างภายในด้วยมิใช่หรือ

⁴¹But rather give alms of what ye have, and behold, all things are clean to you.

⁴¹แต่จงให้ทานตามซึ่งเจ้ามีอยู่ภายใน และดูเถิด สิ่งสารพัดก็บริสุทธิ์แก่เจ้าทั้งหลาย

⁴²But woe unto you, Pharisees, for ye pay tithes of mint and rue and every herb, and pass by the judgment and the love of God: these ye ought to have done, and not have left those aside.

⁴²แต่วิบัติแก่เจ้า พวกฟาริสี ด้วยว่าพวกเจ้าถวายสิบชักหนึ่งของสะระแหน่และขมิ้นและผักทุกอย่าง และได้ละเว้นการพิพากษาและความรักของพระเจ้าเสีย สิ่งเหล่านั้นพวกเจ้าควรได้กระทำอยู่แล้ว แต่สิ่งอื่นนั้นก็ไม่ควรละเว้นด้วย

⁴³Woe unto you, Pharisees, for ye love the first seat in the synagogues and salutations in the market-places.

⁴³วิบัติแก่เจ้า พวกฟาริสี ด้วยว่าพวกเจ้าชอบที่นั่งอันมีเกียรติในธรรมศาลาและชอบให้เขาคำนับที่กลางตลาด

⁴⁴Woe unto you, for ye are as the sepulchres which appear not, and the men walking over them do not know [it].

⁴⁴วิบัติแก่เจ้า พวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริสี คนหน้าซื่อใจคด ด้วยว่าเจ้าทั้งหลายเป็นเหมือนที่ฝังศพซึ่งมิได้ปรากฏ และคนที่เดินเหยียบที่นั่นก็ไม่รู้ว่ามีอะไร"

⁴⁵And one of the doctors of the law answering says to him, Teacher, in saying these things thou insultest us also.

⁴⁵บาเรียนคนหนึ่งทูลพระองค์ว่า "อาจารย์เจ้าข้า ซึ่งท่านว่าอย่างนั้น ท่านก็ติเตียนพวกเราด้วย"

⁴⁶And he said, To you also woe, doctors of the law, for ye lay upon men burdens heavy to bear, and yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.

⁴⁶พระองค์ตรัสว่า "วิบัติแก่เจ้า พวกบาเรียนด้วย เพราะพวกเจ้าเอาของหนักที่แบกยากนักวางบนมนุษย์ แต่ส่วนพวกเจ้าเองก็ไม่จับต้องของหนักนั้นเลยแม้แต่นิ้วเดียว

⁴⁷Woe unto you, for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, but your fathers killed them.

⁴⁷วิบัติแก่เจ้าทั้งหลาย เพราะเจ้าก่ออุโมงค์ฝังศพของพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์ และบรรพบุรุษของเจ้าเองก็ได้ฆ่าศาสดาพยากรณ์นั้น

⁴⁸Ye bear witness then, and consent to the works of your fathers; for *they* killed them, and *ye* build [their sepulchres].

⁴⁸ดังนั้นพวกเจ้าจึงเป็นพยานว่าเจ้าเห็นชอบในการของบรรพบุรุษของเจ้า ด้วยว่าเขาได้ฆ่าพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์นั้น แล้วพวกเจ้าก็ก่ออุโมงค์ฝังศพให้

⁴⁹For this reason also the wisdom of God has said, I will send to them prophets and apostles, and of these shall they kill and drive out by persecution,

⁴⁹เหตุฉะนั้น พระปัญญาของพระเจ้าก็ตรัสด้วยว่า `เราจะใช้พวกศาสดาพยากรณ์และอัครสาวกไปหาเขา และเขาจะฆ่าเสียบ้าง และข่มเหงบ้าง'

⁵⁰that the blood of all the prophets which has been poured out from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation,

⁵⁰เพื่อคนยุคนี้แหละจะต้องรับผิดชอบในเรื่องโลหิตของบรรดาศาสดาพยากรณ์ ซึ่งต้องไหลออกตั้งแต่แรกสร้างโลก

⁵¹from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zacharias, who perished between the altar and the house; yea, I say to you, it shall be required of this generation.

⁵¹คือตั้งแต่โลหิตของอาแบล จนถึงโลหิตของเศคาริยาห์ที่ถูกฆ่าตายระหว่างแท่นบูชากับพระวิหาร เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า คนยุคนี้จะต้องรับผิดชอบในโลหิตนั้น

⁵²Woe unto you, the doctors of the law, for ye have taken away the key of knowledge; yourselves have not entered in, and those who were entering in ye have hindered.

⁵²วิบัติแก่เจ้า พวกบาเรียน ด้วยว่าเจ้าได้เอาลูกกุญแจแห่งความรู้ไปเสีย คือพวกเจ้าเองก็ไม่เข้าไป และคนที่กำลังเข้าไปนั้นเจ้าก็ได้ขัดขวางไว้"

⁵³And as he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press him urgently, and to make him speak of many things;

⁵³เมื่อพระองค์ยังตรัสคำเหล่านั้นแก่เขา พวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริสีก็ตั้งต้นยั่วเย้าพระองค์อย่างรุนแรง หมายให้ตรัสต่อไปหลายประการ

⁵⁴watching him, [and seeking] to catch something out of his mouth, [that they might accuse him].

⁵⁴คอยหวังจับผิดในพระดำรัสของพระองค์ เพื่อเขาจะฟ้องพระองค์ได้
