1In those days, there being again a great crowd, and they having nothing that they could eat, having called his disciples to [him], he says to them,
1คราวนั้นเมื่อฝูงชนพากันมามากมายและไม่มีอาหารกิน พระเยซูจึงทรงเรียกเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์มาตรัสแก่เขาว่า
2I have compassion on the crowd, because they have stayed with me already three days and they have not anything they can eat,
2"เราสงสารคนเหล่านี้ เพราะเขาค้างอยู่กับเราได้สามวันแล้วและไม่มีอาหารจะกิน
3and if I should dismiss them to their home fasting, they will faint on the way; for some of them are come from far.
3ถ้าเราจะให้เขากลับไปบ้านเมื่อยังอดอาหารอยู่ เขาจะหิวโหยสิ้นแรงตามทาง เพราะว่าบางคนมาไกล"
4And his disciples answered him, Whence shall one be able to satisfy these with bread here in a desert place?
4เหล่าสาวกของพระองค์จึงทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "ในถิ่นทุรกันดารนี้จะหาอาหารให้เขากินอิ่มได้ที่ไหน"
5And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
5พระองค์ตรัสถามเขาว่า "พวกท่านมีขนมปังกี่ก้อน" เขาทูลว่า "มีเจ็ดก้อน"
6And he commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground. And having taken the seven loaves, he gave thanks, and broke [them] and gave [them] to his disciples, that they might set [them] before [them]; and they set [them] before the crowd.
6พระองค์จึงตรัสสั่งประชาชนให้นั่งลงที่พื้นดิน แล้วทรงรับขนมปังเจ็ดก้อนนั้น ทรงขอบพระคุณ แล้วจึงทรงหักส่งให้เหล่าสาวกให้เขาแจก เหล่าสาวกจึงแจกให้ประชาชน
7And they had a few small fishes, and having blessed them, he desired these also to be set before [them].
7และเขามีปลาเล็กๆอยู่บ้าง พระองค์จึงขอบพระคุณ แล้วสั่งให้เอาปลานั้นแจกด้วย
8And they ate and were satisfied. And they took up of fragments that remained seven baskets.
8คนทั้งปวงได้รับประทานจนอิ่มและเศษอาหารที่เหลือนั้นเขาเก็บได้เจ็ดกระบุง
9And they [that had eaten] were about four thousand; and he sent them away.
9คนที่รับประทานนั้นมีประมาณสี่พัน แล้วพระองค์ตรัสสั่งให้เขาไป
10And immediately going on board ship with his disciples, he came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
10ในทันใดนั้น พระองค์ก็เสด็จลงเรือกับเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ มาถึงเขตเมืองดาลมานูธา
11And the Pharisees went out and began to dispute against him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
11พวกฟาริสีออกมาและเริ่มโต้เถียงกับพระองค์ ขอพระองค์แสดงหมายสำคัญจากฟ้าสวรรค์ หมายจะทดลองพระองค์
12And groaning in his spirit, he says, Why does this generation seek a sign? Verily I say unto you, A sign shall in no wise be given to this generation.
12พระองค์ทรงถอนพระทัยแล้วตรัสว่า "คนยุคนี้แสวงหาหมายสำคัญทำไม เราบอกความจริงแก่เจ้าทั้งหลายว่า จะไม่โปรดให้หมายสำคัญแก่คนยุคนี้"
13And he left them, and going again on board ship, went away to the other side.
13แล้วพระองค์เสด็จไปจากเขา และลงเรือข้ามฟากไปอีก
14And they forgot to take bread, and save one loaf, they had not [any] with them in the ship.
14ฝ่ายเหล่าสาวกลืมเอาขนมปังไป และในเรือเขามีขนมปังอยู่ก้อนเดียวเท่านั้น
15And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and [of] the leaven of Herod.
15พระองค์ทรงกำชับเหล่าสาวกว่า "จงสังเกตและระวังเชื้อแห่งพวกฟาริสีและเชื้อแห่งเฮโรดให้ดี"
16And they reasoned with one another, [saying], It is because we have no bread.
16เหล่าสาวกจึงปรึกษากันว่า "เพราะเหตุที่เราไม่มีขนมปัง"
17And Jesus knowing [it], says to them, Why reason ye because ye have no bread? Do ye not yet perceive nor understand? Have ye your heart [yet] hardened?
17เมื่อพระเยซูทรงทราบจึงตรัสแก่เขาว่า "เหตุไฉนพวกท่านจึงปรึกษากันและกันถึงเรื่องไม่มีขนมปัง ท่านยังไม่รู้และไม่เข้าใจหรือ ใจของท่านยังแข็งกระด้างหรือ
18Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?
18มีตาแล้วยังไม่เห็นหรือ มีหูแล้วยังไม่ได้ยินหรือ ท่านทั้งหลายจำไม่ได้หรือ
19When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many hand-baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say to him, Twelve.
19เมื่อเราหักขนมปังห้าก้อนให้แก่คนห้าพันคนนั้น ท่านทั้งหลายเก็บเศษที่เหลือนั้นได้กี่กระบุง" เขาทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "ได้สิบสองกระบุง"
20And when the seven for the four thousand, the filling of how many baskets of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
20"เมื่อแจกขนมปังเจ็ดก้อนให้แก่คนสี่พันคนนั้น ท่านทั้งหลายเก็บเศษที่เหลือได้กี่กระบุง" เขาทูลตอบว่า "ได้เจ็ดกระบุง"
21And he said to them, How do ye not yet understand?
21พระองค์จึงตรัสแก่เขาว่า "เป็นไฉนพวกท่านยังไม่เข้าใจ"
22And he comes to Bethsaida; and they bring him a blind man, and beseech him that he might touch him.
22พระองค์จึงไปยังเมืองเบธไซดา เขาพาชายตาบอดคนหนึ่งมาหาพระองค์ ทูลอ้อนวอนขอพระองค์ให้โปรดถูกต้องคนนั้น
23And taking hold of the hand of the blind man he led him forth out of the village, and having spit upon his eyes, he laid his hands upon him, and asked him if he beheld anything.
23พระองค์ได้ทรงจูงมือคนตาบอดออกไปนอกหมู่บ้าน เมื่อได้ทรงบ้วนน้ำลายลงที่ตาคนนั้น และวางพระหัตถ์บนเขาแล้ว พระองค์จึงตรัสถามเขาว่า เขาเห็นสิ่งใดบ้างหรือไม่
24And having looked up, he said, I behold men, for I see [them], as trees, walking.
24คนนั้นเงยหน้าดูแล้วทูลว่า "ข้าพระองค์แลเห็นคนเหมือนต้นไม้เดินไปเดินมา"
25Then he laid his hands again upon his eyes, and he saw distinctly, and was restored and saw all things clearly.
25พระองค์จึงวางพระหัตถ์บนตาเขาอีก แล้วให้เขาเงยหน้าดู และตาของเขาก็หายเป็นปกติ แลเห็นคนทั้งหลายได้ชัดเจน
26And he sent him to his house, saying, Neither enter into the village, nor tell [it] to any one in the village.
26พระองค์จึงตรัสสั่งคนนั้นให้กลับตรงไปยังบ้านของตน แล้วกำชับว่า "อย่าเข้าไปในหมู่บ้าน หรือเล่าให้ใครในหมู่บ้านนั้นฟังเลย"
27And Jesus went forth and his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea-Philippi. And by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Who do men say that I am?
27พระเยซูได้เสด็จกับเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ ออกไปยังหมู่บ้านแขวงซีซารียา ฟีลิปปี เมื่ออยู่ตามทางนั้น พระองค์ตรัสถามเหล่าสาวกว่า "คนทั้งหลายพูดกันว่าเราเป็นผู้ใด"
28And they answered him, saying, John the baptist; and others, Elias; but others, One of the prophets.
28เขาทูลตอบว่า "เขาว่าเป็นยอห์นผู้ให้รับบัพติศมา แต่บางคนว่าเป็นเอลียาห์ และคนอื่นว่าเป็นคนหนึ่งในพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์"
29And he asked them, But *ye*, who do ye say that I am? And Peter answering says to him, *Thou* art the Christ.
29พระองค์จึงตรัสถามเขาว่า "ฝ่ายพวกท่านเล่าว่าเราเป็นผู้ใด" เปโตรทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระคริสต์"
30And he charged them straitly, in order that they should tell no man about him.
30แล้วพระองค์ทรงกำชับห้ามเหล่าสาวกไม่ให้บอกผู้ใดถึงพระองค์
31And he began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and of the chief priests and of the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise [again].
31พระองค์จึงทรงเริ่มกล่าวสอนสาวกว่า บุตรมนุษย์จะต้องทนทุกข์ทรมานหลายประการ พวกผู้ใหญ่ พวกปุโรหิตใหญ่ และพวกธรรมาจารย์จะปฏิเสธพระองค์ และพระองค์จะต้องถูกประหารชีวิต แต่ในวันที่สามพระองค์จะทรงเป็นขึ้นมาใหม่
32And he spoke the thing openly. And Peter, taking him to [him], began to rebuke him.
32คำเหล่านี้พระองค์ตรัสโดยเปิดเผย ฝ่ายเปโตรจึงจับพระองค์ แล้วเริ่มทูลห้ามพระองค์
33But he, turning round and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, saying, Get away behind me, Satan, for thy mind is not on the things that are of God, but on the things that are of men.
33พระองค์จึงทรงหันพระพักตร์ดูเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ แล้วทรงติเปโตรว่า "อ้ายซาตาน จงถอยไปข้างหลังเรา เพราะเจ้ามิได้คิดตามพระดำริของพระเจ้า แต่ตามความคิดของมนุษย์"
34And having called the crowd with his disciples, he said to them, Whoever desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.
34และเมื่อพระองค์ทรงร้องเรียกประชาชนกับเหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ให้เข้ามาแล้ว จึงตรัสแก่เขาว่า "ถ้าผู้ใดจะใคร่ตามเรามา ให้ผู้นั้นเอาชนะตัวเอง และรับกางเขนของตนแบกและตามเรามา
35For whosoever shall desire to save his life shall lose it, but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's shall save it.
35เพราะว่าผู้ใดใคร่จะเอาชีวิตรอด ผู้นั้นจะเสียชีวิต แต่ผู้ใดจะเสียชีวิตเพราะเห็นแก่เราและข่าวประเสริฐ ผู้นั้นจะได้ชีวิตรอด
36For what shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul?
36เพราะถ้าผู้ใดจะได้สิ่งของสิ้นทั้งโลก แต่ต้องสูญเสียจิตวิญญาณของตน ผู้นั้นจะได้ประโยชน์อะไร
37for what should a man give in exchange for his soul?
37เพราะว่าผู้นั้นจะนำอะไรไปแลกเอาจิตวิญญาณของตนกลับคืนมา
38For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him shall the Son of man also be ashamed when he shall come in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
38เหตุฉะนั้น ถ้าผู้ใดมีความอายเพราะเราและถ้อยคำของเราในชั่วอายุนี้ ซึ่งประกอบด้วยการล่วงประเวณีและการผิดบาป บุตรมนุษย์ก็จะมีความอายเพราะผู้นั้น ในเวลาเมื่อพระองค์จะเสด็จมาด้วยสง่าราศีแห่งพระบิดาของพระองค์ และด้วยเหล่าทูตสวรรค์ผู้บริสุทธิ์"
