1The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning Edom: We have heard a report from Jehovah, and an ambassador is sent among the nations. Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.
1นิมิตของโอบาดีห์ องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าตรัสเกี่ยวด้วยเรื่องเอโดมดังนี้ว่า เราได้ยินข่าวลือจากพระเยโฮวาห์ ทูตคนหนึ่งถูกส่งไปท่ามกลางบรรดาประชาชาติให้พูดว่า "จงลุกขึ้นเถิด ให้เราลุกไปทำสงครามกับเมืองเอโดม"
2Behold, I have made thee small among the nations; thou art greatly despised.
2ดูเถิด เราได้กระทำเจ้าให้เล็กท่ามกลางบรรดาประชาชาติ ให้เจ้าเป็นที่ดูหมิ่นอย่างมาก
3The pride of thy heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; -- he that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
3ความเห่อเหิมแห่งใจของเจ้าได้ล่อลวงเจ้าเอง เจ้าผู้ซึ่งอาศัยอยู่ในซอกหิน ที่อาศัยของเจ้าอยู่สูง เจ้ารำพึงอยู่ในใจว่า "ผู้ใดจะให้เราลงมายังพื้นดิน"
4Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith Jehovah.
4แม้ว่าเจ้าเหินขึ้นไปสูงเหมือนนกอินทรี แม้ว่ารังของเจ้าอยู่ในหมู่ดวงดาวทั้งหลาย เราจะฉุดเจ้าลงมาจากที่นั่น พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ
5If thieves had come to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen [till] they had had enough? If grape-gatherers had come to thee, would they not have left some gleanings?
5ถ้าขโมยเข้ามาหาเจ้า ถ้าพวกปล้นเข้ามาในเวลากลางคืน (เจ้าจะถูกทำลายสักเท่าใด) เขาจะไม่ขโมยเพียงพอแก่ตัวของเขาเท่านั้นหรือ ถ้าคนเก็บองุ่นมาหาเจ้า เขาจะไม่ทิ้งองุ่นตกค้างไว้บ้างหรือ
6How is Esau searched! his hidden things sought out!
6ข้าวของของเอซาวได้ถูกรื้อค้นสักเท่าใดหนอ ทรัพย์สมบัติซึ่งซ่อนไว้ก็ถูกค้นไปหมด
7All the men of thy confederacy have pushed thee to the border; the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, they have prevailed against thee; [they that eat] thy bread have laid a snare under thee. There is no understanding in him.
7พันธมิตรทั้งสิ้นของเจ้าได้ขับเจ้าไปถึงพรมแดน สหมิตรของเจ้าได้ล่อลวงเจ้า เขากลับสู้ชนะเจ้าเสียแล้ว มิตรที่กินข้าวหม้อเดียวกับเจ้าก็วางกับดักเจ้า เรื่องนี้ไม่มีใครเข้าใจอะไรเสียเลย
8Shall I not in that day, saith Jehovah, destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?
8พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ในวันนั้นเราจะไม่ทำลายคนฉลาดให้สิ้นไปจากเอโดม และทำลายความเข้าใจเสียจากภูเขาเอซาวหรือ
9And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one may be cut off from the mount of Esau by slaughter.
9โอ เทมานเอ๋ย ชายผู้มีกำลังทั้งหลายของเจ้าจะขยาด จนในที่สุดทุกคนที่มาจากภูเขาเอซาวจะถูกตัดขาดเสียด้วยการสังหาร
10Because of violence against thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
10เหตุเพราะความรุนแรงที่กระทำต่อยาโคบน้องชายของเจ้า ความอับอายจะปกคลุมเจ้าไว้ เจ้าจะต้องถูกตัดขาดออกไปเป็นนิตย์
11In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away captive his substance, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.
11ในวันที่เจ้ายืนเป็นปฏิปักษ์ ในวันที่คนต่างด้าวนำกำลังของเขาไปเป็นเชลย และคนต่างชาติเข้ามาทางประตูเมือง เขาจับสลากเอากรุงเยรูซาเล็มกัน เจ้าก็เหมือนคนเหล่านั้นคนหนึ่ง
12But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day of his disaster; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; nor have opened wide thy mouth in the day of distress.
12เจ้าไม่ควรยืนยิ้มอยู่ด้วยความพอใจในวันที่น้องชายของเจ้ารับเคราะห์ในวันนั้น เจ้าไม่ควรเปรมปรีดิ์เย้ยประชาชนยูดาห์ในวันที่เขาทั้งหลายถูกทำลาย เจ้าไม่ควรจะโอ้อวดในวันที่เขาตกทุกข์ได้ยาก
13Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity, nor have looked, even thou, on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither shouldest thou have laid [hands] on their substance in the day of their calamity;
13เจ้าไม่ควรเข้าประตูเมืองแห่งประชาชนของเราในวันแห่งหายนะของเขา เออ เจ้าไม่ควรยืนยิ้มอยู่ในเรื่องภัยพิบัติของเขาในวันแห่งหายนะของเขา เจ้าไม่ควรจะเข้าริบทรัพย์สินของเขาไปในวันแห่งหายนะของเขา
14and thou shouldest not have stood on the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape, nor have delivered up those remaining of him in the day of distress.
14เจ้าไม่ควรจะยืนสกัดทางแยก เพื่อจะกำจัดพวกที่หลบหนีของเขา เจ้าไม่ควรจะมอบพวกที่เหลืออยู่ให้แก่ศัตรูของเขาในวันที่เขาตกทุกข์ได้ยาก
15For the day of Jehovah is near upon all the nations: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy recompence shall return upon thine own head.
15เพราะวันแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์ใกล้ประชาชาติทั้งสิ้นเข้ามาแล้ว เจ้ากระทำแก่เขาอย่างไร ก็จะมีผู้มากระทำแก่เจ้าอย่างนั้น การตอบแทนของเจ้าจะกลับมาตกบนศีรษะของเจ้าเอง
16For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually; yea, they shall drink, and shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
16เจ้าดื่มอยู่บนภูเขาบริสุทธิ์ของเราฉันใด ประชาชาติทั้งสิ้นก็จะดื่มไม่หยุดฉันนั้น เออ เขาจะดื่มแล้วก็โอนเอนไป เขาจะเป็นเหมือนอย่างที่ไม่เคยเกิดมา
17But upon mount Zion shall there be deliverance, and it shall be holy; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
17แต่จะมีคนรอดพ้นในภูเขาศิโยน และที่นั้นจะบริสุทธิ์ และวงศ์วานของยาโคบจะได้ถือกรรมสิทธิ์ที่ดินอันเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์ของเขา
18And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble; and they shall kindle in them and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau: for Jehovah hath spoken [it].
18วงศ์วานของยาโคบจะเป็นไฟ วงศ์วานของโยเซฟจะเป็นเปลวไฟ และวงศ์วานของเอซาวจะเป็นตอข้าว ไฟและเปลวไฟจะไหม้และเผาผลาญเสีย วงศ์วานของเอซาวจะไม่มีใครรอดได้เลย เพราะว่าพระเยโฮวาห์ได้ลั่นพระวาจาแล้ว
19And [they of] the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the lowland the Philistines; yea, they shall possess the field of Ephraim and the field of Samaria; and Benjamin [shall possess] Gilead;
19คนเหล่านั้นที่อยู่ในภาคใต้จะได้ภูเขาเอซาวเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์ คนเหล่านั้นที่อยู่ในที่ราบจะได้แผ่นดินฟีลิสเตีย เขาจะได้แผ่นดินเอฟราอิมและแผ่นดินสะมาเรียเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์ และเบนยามินจะได้กิเลอาดเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์
20and the captives of this host of the children of Israel [shall possess] what belonged to the Canaanites, unto Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who [were] in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
20พลโยธาของอิสราเอลที่เป็นเชลยจะได้ที่ซึ่งเป็นของคนคานาอันไกลไปจนถึงศาเรฟัทเป็นกรรมสิทธิ์ ส่วนพวกเชลยชาวเยรูซาเล็มที่อยู่ในเสฟาราดจะได้หัวเมืองในภาคใต้เป็นกรรมสิทธิ์
21And saviours shall come up on mount Zion, to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be Jehovah's.
21พวกผู้ช่วยให้พ้นจะขึ้นไปที่ภูเขาศิโยนเพื่อปกครองภูเขาเอซาว และราชอาณาจักรนั้นจะตกเป็นของพระเยโฮวาห์
