¹And the word of Jehovah of hosts came [unto me], saying,

¹และพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธามายังข้าพเจ้าอีกว่า

²Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great fury.

²"พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า เราหวงแหนศิโยนด้วยความหวงแหนอันยิ่งใหญ่ และเราหวงแหนเธอด้วยความกริ้วมาก

³Thus saith Jehovah: I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and Jerusalem shall be called, The city of truth; and the mountain of Jehovah of hosts, The holy mountain.

³พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า เรากลับไปยังศิโยน และจะอยู่ท่ามกลางเยรูซาเล็ม และเขาจะเรียกเยรูซาเล็มว่าเมืองแห่งความจริง และเรียกภูเขาของพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาว่าภูเขาบริสุทธิ์

⁴Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: There shall yet old men and old women sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each one with his staff in his hand for multitude of days.

⁴พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า ชายชราและหญิงชราจะอาศัยอยู่ตามถนนในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มอีก ต่างก็มีไม้เท้าอยู่ในมือเพราะอายุมากทีเดียว

⁵And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.

⁵และถนนทั้งหลายในเมืองนั้นก็จะเต็มไปด้วยเด็กผู้ชายและเด็กผู้หญิงวิ่งเล่นอยู่ทั่วไป

⁶Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: If it be wonderful in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be wonderful in mine eyes? saith Jehovah of hosts.

⁶พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า ถ้าเรื่องนี้เป็นเรื่องประหลาดในสายตาของประชาชนที่เหลืออยู่ในสมัยนี้แล้ว พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสว่า ก็น่าจะประหลาดในสายตาของเราด้วยมิใช่หรือ

⁷Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country;

⁷พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า ดูเถิด เราจะช่วยประชาชนของเราให้รอดพ้นจากประเทศตะวันออกและจากประเทศตะวันตก

⁸and I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.

⁸และเราจะพาเขาทั้งหลายให้มาอาศัยอยู่ท่ามกลางเยรูซาเล็ม และเขาทั้งหลายจะเป็นประชาชนของเรา และเราจะเป็นพระเจ้าของเขาทั้งหลาย ด้วยความจริงและความชอบธรรม

⁹Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, that were in the day that the foundation of the house of Jehovah of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.

⁹พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสว่า จงให้มือของเจ้าทั้งหลายแข็งแรง คือเจ้าทั้งหลายผู้ได้ยินถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ในกาลนี้ซึ่งมาจากปากผู้พยากรณ์ทั้งหลาย ซึ่งอยู่ในวันที่ได้วางรากฐานพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา เพื่อว่าจะได้ก่อสร้างพระวิหารนั้นขึ้น

¹⁰For before those days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; and there was no peace for him that went out or that came in, because of the distress: for I let loose all men, every one against his neighbour.

¹⁰เพราะว่าก่อนสมัยนั้นไม่มีค่าจ้างให้แก่คนหรือให้แก่สัตว์ ทั้งผู้ที่เข้าออกก็ไม่มีสันติภาพเพราะเหตุภัยพิบัตินั้น เพราะเราปล่อยให้คนทั้งหลายต่อสู้กับเพื่อนบ้านของตน

¹¹But now I will not be unto the remnant of this people as in the former days, saith Jehovah of hosts;

¹¹พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสว่า แต่บัดนี้เราจะไม่กระทำต่อประชาชนที่เหลืออยู่นี้อย่างกับสมัยก่อน

¹²for the seed shall be prosperous, the vine shall give its fruit, and the ground shall give its produce, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these [things].

¹²เพราะว่าเมล็ดพืชจะเกิดเจริญงอกงาม เถาองุ่นจะมีลูกและแผ่นดินจะให้ผล และท้องฟ้าจะให้น้ำค้าง และเราจะกระทำให้ประชาชนที่เหลืออยู่นี้ถือกรรมสิทธิ์สิ่งเหล่านี้ทั้งหมด

¹³And it shall come to pass, like as ye were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear ye not, let your hands be strong.

¹³โอ วงศ์วานยูดาห์และวงศ์วานอิสราเอลเอ๋ย เจ้าเคยเป็นที่สาปแช่งท่ามกลางประชาชาติทั้งหลายให้เขาแช่งฉันใด ต่อมาเราจะช่วยเจ้าให้รอดพ้นและเจ้าจะได้เป็นแหล่งพระพรฉันนั้น อย่ากลัวเลย แต่จงให้มือของเจ้าแข็งแรงเถิด

¹⁴For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Like as I thought to do you evil when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I repented not;

¹⁴เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า เมื่อบรรพบุรุษของเจ้ายั่วเย้าให้เราโกรธนั้น เราก็ตั้งใจว่าจะลงโทษเจ้า เรามิได้หย่อนความตั้งใจลง พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้แหละ

¹⁵so again have I thought in these days to do good unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.

¹⁵ดังนั้นในวันเหล่านี้เราตั้งใจอีกว่า เราจะกระทำดีต่อเยรูซาเล็มและต่อวงศ์วานยูดาห์ อย่ากลัวเลย

¹⁶These are the things that ye shall do: Speak truth every one with his neighbour; execute truth and the judgment of peace in your gates;

¹⁶ต่อไปนี้เป็นสิ่งที่เจ้าทั้งหลายพึงกระทำ จงต่างคนต่างพูดความจริงกับเพื่อนบ้าน จงให้การพิพากษาที่ประตูเมืองของเจ้าเป็นตามความจริงและกระทำเพื่อสันติ

¹⁷and let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are [things] that I hate, saith Jehovah.

¹⁷อย่าคิดอุบายชั่วในใจต่อเพื่อนบ้าน อย่ารักคำปฏิญาณเท็จ สิ่งทั้งปวงเหล่านี้เราเกลียดชัง" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ

¹⁸And the word of Jehovah of hosts came unto me, saying,

¹⁸และพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธามายังข้าพเจ้าว่า

¹⁹Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: The fast of the fourth [month] and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful gatherings. Love ye then truth and peace.

¹⁹"พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า การอดอาหารในเดือนที่สี่ การอดอาหารในเดือนที่ห้าและการอดอาหารในเดือนที่เจ็ด และการอดอาหารในเดือนที่สิบ จะเป็นที่ให้ความบันเทิงและความร่าเริง และเป็นการเลี้ยงที่ให้ชื่นชมแก่วงศ์วานยูดาห์ เหตุฉะนั้นเจ้าจงรักความจริงและสันติภาพ

²⁰Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Yet again shall there come peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities;

²⁰พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า ชนชาติทั้งหลายยังจะมา คือประชาชนที่ยังอาศัยอยู่ในหัวเมืองอันมากมาย

²¹and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to supplicate Jehovah, and to seek Jehovah of hosts: I will go also.

²¹ชาวเมืองหนึ่งจะไปหาชาวเมืองอีกเมืองหนึ่ง กล่าวว่า `ให้เราไปกันทันที ไปทูลขอจำเพาะพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ และแสวงหาพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา ข้าพเจ้าก็จะไปด้วย'

²²And many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek Jehovah of hosts in Jerusalem, and to supplicate Jehovah.

²²เออ ชนชาติทั้งหลายเป็นอันมาก และบรรดาประชาชาติที่เข้มแข็งจะมาแสวงหาพระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาในเยรูซาเล็ม และทูลขอจำเพาะพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์

²³Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: In those days shall ten men take hold, out of all languages of the nations, shall even take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you; for we have heard [that] God is with you.

²³พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า ต่อมาในสมัยนั้นสิบคนจากประชาชาติทุกๆภาษาจะยึดชายเสื้อคลุมของยิวคนหนึ่งไว้แล้วกล่าวว่า `ขอให้เราไปกับท่านเถิด เพราะเราได้ยินว่าพระเจ้าทรงสถิตกับท่าน'"
