¹HXiram, regxo de Tiro, sendis siajn servantojn al Salomono, kiam li auxdis, ke oni lin sanktoleis regxo anstataux lia patro; cxar HXiram estis amiko de David en la tuta tempo.

¹And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the place of his father; for Hiram always loved David.

²Kaj Salomono sendis al HXiram, por diri:

²And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,

³Vi scias pri mia patro David, ke li ne povis konstrui domon al la nomo de la Eternulo, lia Dio, pro la militantoj, kiuj lin cxirkauxis, gxis la Eternulo metis ilin sub la plandojn de liaj piedoj.

³Thou knowest that David my father could not build a house unto the name of Jehovah his God, because of the wars which were about him on every side, until Jehovah put them under the soles of his feet.

⁴Sed nun la Eternulo, mia Dio, donis al mi ripozon cxirkauxe; ne ekzistas kontrauxulo nek ia malbona malhelpo.

⁴But now Jehovah my God has given me rest on every side: there is neither adversary nor evil event.

⁵Tial jen mi intencas konstrui domon al la nomo de la Eternulo, mia Dio, kiel la Eternulo parolis al mia patro David, dirante:Via filo, kiun Mi sidigos anstataux vi sur via trono, konstruos la domon al Mia nomo.

⁵And behold, I purpose to build a house unto the name of Jehovah my God, as Jehovah spoke to David my father saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy stead, he shall build a house unto my name.

⁶Ordonu do nun, ke oni haku por mi cedrojn de Lebanon; kaj miaj servantoj estos kun viaj servantoj, kaj pagon por viaj servantoj mi donos al vi tian, kian vi diros; cxar vi scias, ke ekzistas inter ni neniu, kiu povus haki arbojn kiel la Cidonanoj.

⁶And now command that they hew me cedar-trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants; and I will give thee hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt say; for thou knowest that there is not among us any that are experienced in cutting timber like to the Zidonians.

⁷Kiam HXiram auxdis la vortojn de Salomono, li tre ekgxojis, kaj diris:Benata estu hodiaux la Eternulo, kiu donis al David filon sagxan super tiu grandnombra popolo.

⁷And it came to pass when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be Jehovah this day, who has given to David a wise son over this great people.

⁸Kaj HXiram sendis al Salomono, por diri:Mi auxskultis tion, kion vi sendis diri al mi; mi plenumos vian tutan deziron pri la arboj cedraj kaj arboj cipresaj.

⁸And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have heard the things which thou sentest to me for: I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of cypress.

⁹Miaj servantoj malsuprenigos ilin de Lebanon al la maro, kaj mi flosos ilin sur la maro gxis la loko, pri kiu vi sciigos al mi, kaj tie mi ilin disigos, kaj vi prenigos. Kaj vi plenumu mian deziron, kaj donu mangxajxon por mia domo.

⁹My servants shall bring [them] down from Lebanon to the sea; and I will convey them by sea [in] rafts to the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be broken up there, and thou shalt receive them. And thou shalt accomplish my desire in giving food for my household.

¹⁰Kaj HXiram donis al Salomono lignon cedran kaj lignon cipresan, kiom li nur volis.

¹⁰So Hiram gave Solomon cedar-trees and cypress-trees [according to] all his desire.

¹¹And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat as food for his household, and twenty measures of beaten oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.

¹²Kaj la Eternulo donis sagxon al Salomono, kiel Li promesis al li. Kaj estis paco inter HXiram kaj Salomono, kaj ili ambaux faris inter si interligon.

¹²And Jehovah gave Solomon wisdom as he promised him. And there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league.

¹³And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.

¹⁴And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses; a month they were in Lebanon, two months at home; and Adoniram was over the levy.

¹⁵Kaj Salomono havis sepdek mil sxargxoportistojn kaj okdek mil montajn sxtonhakistojn,

¹⁵And Solomon had seventy thousand that bore burdens, and eighty thousand stone-masons in the mountains;

¹⁶besides the overseers whom Solomon had set over the work, three thousand three hundred, who ruled over the people that wrought in the work.

¹⁷And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, hewn stones, to lay the foundation of the house.

¹⁸Kaj hakis la konstruistoj de Salomono kaj la konstruistoj de HXiram kaj la Gebalanoj, kaj pretigis lignon kaj sxtonojn, por konstrui la domon.

¹⁸And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders and the Giblites hewed them, and prepared timber and stones to build the house.
