¹Simon Peter, bondman and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have received like precious faith with us through [the] righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:

²Graco al vi kaj paco pligrandigxu en sciado pri Dio, kaj pri Jesuo, nia Sinjoro;

²Grace and peace be multiplied to you in [the] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

³pro tio, ke lia Dia povo donacis al ni cxion rilatantan al vivo kaj pieco, per la scio de tiu, kiu nin vokis per sia propra gloro kaj virto;

³As his divine power has given to us all things which relate to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us by glory and virtue,

⁴per kiuj li donacis al ni la promesojn karegajn kaj tre grandajn; por ke per ili vi farigxu partoprenantoj en Dia naturo, forsavigxinte el la putreco, kiu estas en la mondo per voluptemo.

⁴through which he has given to us the greatest and precious promises, that through these ye may become partakers of [the] divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

⁵Kaj pro tiu sama kauxzo viaflanke aplikante cxian diligentecon, en via fido aldonu virton; kaj en virto scion;

⁵But for this very reason also, using therewith all diligence, in your faith have also virtue, in virtue knowledge,

⁶kaj en scio sinregadon; kaj en sinregado paciencon; kaj en pacienco piecon;

⁶in knowledge temperance, in temperance endurance, in endurance godliness,

⁷kaj en pieco fratamikecon, kaj en fratamikeco amon.

⁷in godliness brotherly love, in brotherly love love:

⁸CXar tiuj ecoj, se cxe vi ili trovigxas kaj abundas, faras vin nek mallaboremaj nek senfruktaj en la scio de nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo.

⁸for these things existing and abounding in you make [you] to be neither idle nor unfruitful as regards the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ;

⁹CXar tiu, al kiu mankas tiuj ecoj, estas blinda, miopa, forgesinte la forpurigon el siaj antauxaj pekoj.

⁹for he with whom these things are not present is blind, short-sighted, and has forgotten the purging of his former sins.

¹⁰Sekve, fratoj, pli diligente klopodu, por certigi vian vokon kaj elekton; cxar farante tion, vi neniam falpusxigxos;

¹⁰Wherefore the rather, brethren, use diligence to make your calling and election sure, for doing these things ye will never fall;

¹¹cxar tiel al vi estos ricxe provizita la eniro en la eternan regnon de nia Sinjoro kaj Savanto Jesuo Kristo.

¹¹for thus shall the entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ be richly furnished unto you.

¹²Pro tio mi cxiam estos preta rememorigi vin pri tiuj aferoj, kvankam vi ilin scias kaj estas fortigitaj en la cxeestanta vero.

¹²Wherefore I will be careful to put you always in mind of these things, although knowing [them] and established in the present truth.

¹³Kaj mi opinias konvena, dum mi estas en cxi tiu tabernaklo, vigligi vin per rememorigo;

¹³But I account it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting [you] in remembrance,

¹⁴sciante, ke baldaux estos la demeto de mia tabernaklo, gxuste kiel nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo montris al mi.

¹⁴knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle is speedily [to take place], as also our Lord Jesus Christ has manifested to me;

¹⁵Kaj mi diligente penos, ke post mia foriro vi povu konstante rememori tion.

¹⁵but I will use diligence, that after my departure ye should have also, at any time, [in your power] to call to mind these things.

¹⁶CXar ne sekvinte fabelojn sofismajn, ni konigis al vi la potencon kaj alvenon de nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo, sed vidinte per propraj okuloj lian majeston.

¹⁶For we have not made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, following cleverly imagined fables, but having been eyewitnesses of *his* majesty.

¹⁷CXar li ricevis de Dio, la Patro, honoron kaj gloron, kiam al li tia vocxo estis alportita el la brilega gloro:CXi tiu estas Mia Filo, la amata, en kiu Mi havas plezuron;

¹⁷For he received from God [the] Father honour and glory, such a voice being uttered to him by the excellent glory: This is my beloved Son, in whom *I* have found my delight;

¹⁸kaj tiun vocxon, alportitan el la cxielo, ni mem auxdis, kunestante kun li sur la sankta monto.

¹⁸and this voice *we* heard uttered from heaven, being with him on the holy mountain.

¹⁹Kaj ni havas la profetan vorton konfirmitan; kiun atentante, vi bone faras, kvazaux lampon lumantan en malhela loko, gxis ektagigxos kaj la matenstelo eklevigxos en viaj koroj;

¹⁹And we have the prophetic word [made] surer, to which ye do well taking heed (as to a lamp shining in an obscure place) until [the] day dawn and [the] morning star arise in your hearts;

²⁰antaux cxio sciante, ke neniu profetajxo de la Skribo enhavas en si sian propran klarigon.

²⁰knowing this first, that [the scope of] no prophecy of scripture is had from its own particular interpretation,

²¹CXar neniam profetajxo estas alportita per homa volo; sed homoj, movataj de la Sankta Spirito, parolis laux Dio.

²¹for prophecy was not ever uttered by [the] will of man, but holy men of God spake under the power of [the] Holy Spirit.
