¹And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,

²being distressed on account of their teaching the people and preaching by Jesus the resurrection from among [the] dead;

³and they laid hands on them, and put them in ward till the morrow; for it was already evening.

⁴Tamen multaj el tiuj, kiuj auxdis la vorton, kredis; kaj la nombro de la viroj estis proksimume kvin mil.

⁴But many of those who had heard the word believed; and the number of the men had become [about] five thousand.

⁵Kaj en la sekvanta tago kunvenis en Jerusalem la regantoj kaj pliagxuloj kaj skribistoj

⁵And it came to pass on the morrow that their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together at Jerusalem,

⁶kaj Anas, la cxefpastro, kaj Kajafas kaj Johano kaj Aleksandro, kaj cxiuj, kiuj estis de la cxefpastra parencaro.

⁶and Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of [the] high priestly family;

⁷and having placed them in the midst they inquired, In what power or in what name have *ye* done this?

⁸Tiam Petro, plenigite de la Sankta Spirito, diris al ili:Regantoj de la popolo kaj pliagxuloj,

⁸Then Peter, filled with [the] Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people and elders [of Israel],

⁹se ni hodiaux estas eldemandataj pri la bonfaro al la senfortulo, per kio li resanigxis,

⁹if *we* this day are called upon to answer as to the good deed [done] to the infirm man, how *he* has been healed,

¹⁰estu sciate al vi cxiuj kaj al la tuta popolo Izraela, ke en la nomo de Jesuo Kristo, la Nazaretano, kiun vi krucumis, kiun Dio levis el la mortintoj, cxi tiu staras sana antaux vi.

¹⁰be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazaraean, whom *ye* have crucified, whom God has raised from among [the] dead, by *him* this [man] stands here before you sound [in body].

¹¹Tiu estas la sxtono, kiun vi konstruantoj malsxatis, kaj kiu farigxis sxtono bazangula.

¹¹*He* is the stone which has been set at nought by you the builders, which is become the corner stone.

¹²Kaj en neniu alia estas savo; cxar ne estas sub la cxielo alia nomo, donita inter homoj, per kiu ni devas esti savitaj.

¹²And salvation is in none other, for neither is there another name under heaven which is given among men by which we must be saved.

¹³Sed kiam ili rimarkis la kuragxon de Petro kaj Johano, kaj komprenis, ke ili estas malkleruloj kaj nesciuloj, ili miris, kaj rekonis ilin, ke ili estis kun Jesuo.

¹³But seeing the boldness of Peter and John, and perceiving that they were unlettered and uninstructed men, they wondered; and they recognised them that they were with Jesus.

¹⁴Kaj vidante la resanigiton starantan apud tiuj, ili ne havis, kion kontrauxdiri.

¹⁴And beholding the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to reply;

¹⁵Sed ordoninte ilin foriri el la sinedrio, ili interkonsiligxis,

¹⁵but having commanded them to go out of the council they conferred with one another,

¹⁶dirante:Kion ni devas fari al cxi tiuj homoj? cxar estas videble por cxiuj logxantoj en Jerusalem, ke rimarkinda signo farigxis per ili, kaj nei gxin ni ne povas.

¹⁶saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed an evident sign has come to pass through their means is manifest to all that inhabit Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.

¹⁷Sed por ke gxi ne plu disvastigxu inter la popolo, ni minacu ilin, ke ili de nun ne parolu al iu ajn en cxi tiu nomo.

¹⁷But that it be not further spread among the people, let us threaten them severely no longer to speak to any man in this name.

¹⁸Kaj ili vokis ilin, kaj ordonis al ili tute ne paroli nek instrui en la nomo de Jesuo.

¹⁸And having called them, they charged [them] not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

¹⁹Sed Petro kaj Johano responde diris al ili:CXu estas juste antaux Dio auxskulti vin prefere ol Dion, vi jugxu;

¹⁹But Peter and John answering said to them, If it be righteous before God to listen to you rather than to God, judge ye;

²⁰cxar ni ne povas ne paroli pri tio, kion ni vidis kaj auxdis.

²⁰for as for us *we* cannot refrain from speaking of the things which we have seen and heard.

²¹Kaj ili, denove minacinte, liberigis ilin, trovinte nenion, pro kio ili povus ilin puni, pro la popolo; cxar cxiuj gloris Dion pro la faritajxo.

²¹But they, having further threatened them, let them go, finding no way how they might punish them, on account of the people, because all glorified God for what had taken place;

²²CXar estis pli ol kvardekjara la viro, sur kiu farigxis cxi tiu signo resaniga.

²²for the man on whom this sign of healing had taken place was above forty years old.

²³Kaj liberigite, ili venis al siaj kunuloj kaj rakontis cxion, kion la cxefpastroj kaj pliagxuloj diris al ili.

²³And having been let go, they came to their own [company], and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.

²⁴Kaj auxdinte, ili levis la vocxon al Dio unuanime, kaj diris:Ho Plejpotenculo, kiu faris la cxielon kaj la teron kaj la maron, kaj cxion, kio estas en ili,

²⁴And they, having heard [it], lifted up [their] voice with one accord to God, and said, Lord, *thou* art the God who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them;

²⁵kaj kiu per la Sankta Spirito, per la busxo de nia patro David, Via servanto, diris: Kial tumultas popoloj, Kaj gentoj pripensas vanajxon?

²⁵who hast said by the mouth of thy servant David, Why have [the] nations raged haughtily and [the] peoples meditated vain things?

²⁶Levigxis la regxoj de la tero, Kaj la regantoj kolektigxis kune, Kontraux la Eternulo kaj kontraux Lia Sanktoleito;

²⁶The kings of the earth were there, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against his Christ.

²⁷cxar vere en cxi tiu urbo kolektigxis kontraux Via sankta Servanto Jesuo, kiun Vi sanktoleis, kune Herodo kaj Pontio Pilato kun la gentoj kaj la popoloj de Izrael,

²⁷For in truth against thy holy servant Jesus, whom thou hadst anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with [the] nations, and peoples of Israel, have been gathered together in this city

²⁸por fari cxion, kion Via mano kaj Via intenco antauxdifinis.

²⁸to do whatever thy hand and thy counsel had determined before should come to pass.

²⁹Kaj nun, ho Eternulo, rigardu iliajn minacojn; kaj donu al Viaj sklavoj paroli Vian vorton kun plena kuragxo,

²⁹And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings, and give to thy bondmen with all boldness to speak thy word,

³⁰dum Vi etendos Vian manon por sanigado, kaj signoj kaj mirakloj farigxos per la nomo de Via sankta Servanto Jesuo.

³⁰in that thou stretchest out thy hand to heal, and that signs and wonders take place through the name of thy holy servant Jesus.

³¹Kaj post ilia pregxado skuigxis la loko, en kiu ili kolektigxis; kaj ili cxiuj plenigxis de la Sankta Spirito, kaj parolis kuragxe la vorton de Dio.

³¹And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and spoke the word of God with boldness.

³²Kaj la anaro de la kredantoj estis unukora kaj unuanima, kaj neniu diris, ke io el lia havajxo estas propra al li; sed cxe ili cxio estis komuna.

³²And the heart and soul of the multitude of those that had believed were one, and not one said that anything of what he possessed was his own, but all things were common to them;

³³Kaj kun granda potenco la apostoloj atestis pri la relevigxo de la Sinjoro Jesuo; kaj granda graco estis sur cxiuj.

³³and with great power did the apostles give witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.

³⁴Inter ili neniu havis mankon, cxar cxiuj posedantoj de bienoj aux domoj vendis ilin, kaj alportis la prezon de la venditajxoj

³⁴For neither was there any one in want among them; for as many as were owners of lands or houses, selling them, brought the price of what was sold

³⁵kaj metis gxin antaux la piedoj de la apostoloj; kaj estis disdonate al cxiu laux cxies aparta bezono.

³⁵and laid it at the feet of the apostles; and distribution was made to each according as any one might have need.

³⁶Kaj Jozef, kiu de la apostoloj estis alnomita Barnabas (tio estas, Filo de Konsolo), Levido, Kiprano laux sia naskigxo,

³⁶And Joseph, who had been surnamed Barnabas by the apostles (which is, being interpreted, Son of consolation), a Levite, Cyprian by birth,

³⁷posedante kampon, vendis gxin, kaj alportis la prezon kaj metis gxin antaux la piedoj de la apostoloj.

³⁷being possessed of land, having sold [it], brought the money and laid it at the feet of the apostles.
