¹Hear, Israel! Thou art to pass over the Jordan this day, to enter in to possess nations greater and mightier than thou, cities great and walled up to heaven,

²popolon grandan kaj altkreskan, la Anakidojn, kiujn vi konas, kaj pri kiuj vi auxdis:Kiu povas kontrauxstari al la filoj de Anak?

²a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard [say], Who can stand before the sons of Anak!

³Sciu do nun, ke la Eternulo, via Dio, mem iras antaux vi, kiel fajro konsumanta; Li ekstermos ilin kaj Li submetos ilin antaux vi, kaj vi forpelos ilin kaj pereigos ilin rapide, kiel la Eternulo diris al vi.

³Know then this day, that Jehovah thy God is he that goeth over before thee, a consuming fire; he will destroy them, and he will cast them down before thee, and thou shalt dispossess them and cause them to perish quickly, as Jehovah hath said unto thee.

⁴Ne diru en via koro, kiam la Eternulo, via Dio, forpelos ilin de antaux vi:Pro mia virteco la Eternulo venigis min por ekposedi cxi tiun landon; pro la malvirteco de cxi tiuj popoloj la Eternulo forpelas ilin de antaux vi.

⁴Thou shalt not say in thy heart, when Jehovah thy God thrusteth them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness Jehovah hath brought me in to possess this land; but for the wickedness of these nations doth Jehovah dispossess them from before thee.

⁵Ne pro via virteco kaj pro la honesteco de via koro vi venas por ekposedi ilian landon; sed pro la malvirteco de cxi tiuj popoloj la Eternulo, via Dio, forpelas ilin de antaux vi, kaj por plenumi tion, kion la Eternulo jxuris al viaj patroj, al Abraham, al Isaak, kaj al Jakob.

⁵Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thy heart, dost thou enter in to possess their land, but for the wickedness of these nations doth Jehovah thy God dispossess them from before thee, and that he may perform the word which Jehovah swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

⁶Sciu do, ke ne pro via virteco la Eternulo, via Dio, donas al vi tiun bonan landon por ekposedi gxin; cxar vi estas popolo malmolnuka.

⁶Know therefore that Jehovah thy God doth not give thee this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiff-necked people.

⁷Memoru, ne forgesu, kiel vi kolerigis la Eternulon, vian Dion, en la dezerto; de post la tago, en kiu vi eliris el la lando Egipta, gxis via veno al cxi tiu loko, vi estis malobeemaj kontraux la Eternulo.

⁷Remember, forget not, how thou provokedst Jehovah thy God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came to this place, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah.

⁸Kaj cxe HXoreb vi incitis la Eternulon, kaj la Eternulo ekkoleris kontraux vi tiel, ke Li volis ekstermi vin.

⁸And at Horeb ye provoked Jehovah to wrath, and Jehovah was angry with you, to destroy you,

⁹Kiam mi supreniris sur la monton, por preni la sxtonajn tabelojn, la tabelojn de la interligo, kiun la Eternulo faris kun vi, kaj mi restis sur la monto kvardek tagojn kaj kvardek noktojn, panon mi ne mangxis kaj akvon mi ne trinkis:

⁹when I went up the mountain to receive the tables of stone, the tables of the covenant which Jehovah made with you, and I abode in the mountain forty days and forty nights, -- I ate no bread and drank no water, --

¹⁰tiam la Eternulo donis al mi la du sxtonajn tabelojn skribitajn per la fingro de Dio, kaj sur ili estis cxiuj vortoj, kiujn diris al vi la Eternulo sur la monto el meze de fajro en la tago de kunveno.

¹⁰-- and Jehovah delivered to me the two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words which Jehovah spoke with you on the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly.

¹¹Kaj tio estis post la paso de kvardek tagoj kaj kvardek noktoj, ke la Eternulo donis al mi la du sxtonajn tabelojn, la tabelojn de la interligo.

¹¹And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that Jehovah gave me the two tables of stone, the tables of the covenant.

¹²Kaj la Eternulo diris al mi:Levigxu, rapide iru malsupren de cxi tie, cxar malmoraligxis via popolo, kiun vi elkondukis el Egiptujo; rapide ili forflankigxis de la vojo, kiun Mi ordonis al ili:ili faris al si fanditan idolon.

¹²And Jehovah said unto me, Arise, go down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them: they have made for themselves a molten image.

¹³Kaj la Eternulo diris al mi jene:Mi vidas cxi tiun popolon, Mi vidas, ke gxi estas popolo malmolnuka;

¹³And Jehovah spoke unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people.

¹⁴lasu Min, Mi ekstermos ilin, kaj Mi forvisxos ilian nomon el sub la cxielo, kaj Mi faros el vi popolon pli fortan kaj pli grandnombran ol ili.

¹⁴Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven; and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

¹⁵Kaj mi turnis min kaj malsupreniris de la monto, kaj la monto brulis per fajro; kaj la du tabeloj de la interligo estis en miaj du manoj.

¹⁵And I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire; and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.

¹⁶Kaj mi vidis, ke vi pekis kontraux la Eternulo, via Dio, vi faris al vi fanditan bovidon, vi rapide forflankigxis de la vojo, kiun la Eternulo ordonis al vi;

¹⁶And I saw, and behold, ye had sinned against Jehovah your God: ye had made for yourselves a molten calf; ye had quickly turned aside from the way which Jehovah had commanded you.

¹⁷kaj mi prenis la du tabelojn kaj forjxetis ilin el miaj ambaux manoj kaj disrompis ilin antaux viaj okuloj.

¹⁷And I seized the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and broke them before your eyes.

¹⁸Kaj mi jxetis min antaux la Eternulo, kiel antauxe, dum kvardek tagoj kaj kvardek noktoj mi panon ne mangxis kaj akvon ne trinkis, pro cxiuj viaj pekoj, kiujn vi pekis, farante malbonon antaux la okuloj de la Eternulo, kolerigante Lin;

¹⁸And I fell down before Jehovah, as at the first, forty days and forty nights, -- I ate no bread and drank no water, -- because of all your sin which ye had sinned, in doing what is evil in the eyes of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.

¹⁹cxar mi timis la koleron kaj furiozon, per kiuj la Eternulo ekkoleris kontraux vi, dezirante ekstermi vin. Kaj la Eternulo auxskultis min ankaux cxi tiun fojon.

¹⁹For I was afraid of the anger and fury wherewith Jehovah was wroth against you to destroy you. And Jehovah listened unto me also at that time.

²⁰Ankaux kontraux Aaron la Eternulo tre ekkoleris kaj volis ekstermi lin; sed mi pregxis ankaux por Aaron en tiu tempo.

²⁰And with Aaron Jehovah was very angry to destroy him; and I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.

²¹Kaj vian pekon, kiun vi faris, la bovidon, mi prenis kaj forbruligis gxin per fajro kaj disbatis gxin, disfrakasante tiel, ke gxi farigxis malgrandpeca kiel polvo, kaj mi jxetis gxian polvon en la torenton, kiu defluas de la monto.

²¹And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burned it with fire, and crushed it, and ground it very small, until it became fine dust; and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that flowed down from the mountain.

²²Ankaux en Tabera kaj en Masa kaj en Kibrot-Hataava vi kolerigis la Eternulon.

²²And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah, ye provoked Jehovah to wrath.

²³Kaj kiam la Eternulo sendis vin el Kadesx-Barnea, dirante:Iru kaj ekposedu la landon, kiun Mi donas al vi; tiam vi malobeis la vortojn de la Eternulo, via Dio, kaj vi ne kredis al Li kaj ne auxskultis Lian vocxon.

²³And when Jehovah sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and take possession of the land which I have given you, ye rebelled against the word of Jehovah your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.

²⁴Malobeemaj vi estis kontraux la Eternulo de la tago, kiam mi ekkonis vin.

²⁴Ye have been rebellious against Jehovah from the day that I knew you.

²⁵Mi do kusxis antaux la Eternulo dum la kvardek tagoj kaj kvardek noktoj, kiujn mi kusxis; cxar la Eternulo intencis ekstermi vin.

²⁵So I fell down before Jehovah the forty days and forty nights, as I fell down; for Jehovah had said he would destroy you.

²⁶Kaj mi pregxis al la Eternulo, kaj diris:Mia Sinjoro, ho Eternulo, ne pereigu Vian popolon kaj Vian posedajxon, kiun Vi liberigis per Via grandeco kaj kiun Vi elkondukis el Egiptujo per forta mano.

²⁶I prayed therefore to Jehovah, and said, Lord Jehovah, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a powerful hand.

²⁷Rememoru Viajn servantojn Abraham, Isaak, kaj Jakob; ne atentu la obstinecon de cxi tiu popolo nek gxian malvirtecon nek gxiajn pekojn;

²⁷Remember thy servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not at the stubbornness of this people, nor at their wickedness, nor at their sin;

²⁸por ke ne diru la logxantoj de tiu lando, el kiu Vi elkondukis nin:Pro tio, ke la Eternulo ne povis venigi ilin en la landon, pri kiu Li parolis al ili, kaj pro malamo al ili Li elkondukis ilin, por mortigi ilin en la dezerto.

²⁸lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because Jehovah was not able to bring them into the land which he had promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to kill them in the wilderness.

²⁹Kaj ili estas ja Via popolo kaj Via posedajxo, kiun Vi elkondukis per Via granda forto kaj per Via etendita brako.

²⁹They are indeed thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out with thy great power and with thy stretched-out arm.
