¹In the third month after the departure of the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they [into] the wilderness of Sinai:

²Ili eliris el Refidim, kaj venis en la dezerton Sinaj kaj starigis sian tendaron en la dezerto; kaj Izrael starigxis tie tendare antaux la monto.

²they departed from Rephidim, and came [into] the wilderness of Sinai, and encamped in the wilderness; and Israel encamped there before the mountain.

³Kaj Moseo supreniris al Dio; kaj la Eternulo vokis al li de la monto, dirante:Tiel diru al la domo de Jakob kaj sciigu al la filoj de Izrael:

³And Moses went up to God, and Jehovah called to him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:

⁴Vi vidis, kion Mi faris al la Egiptoj kaj kiel Mi portis vin sur aglaj flugiloj kaj venigis vin al Mi.

⁴Ye have seen what I have done to the Egyptians, and [how] I have borne you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself.

⁵Kaj nun se vi obeos Mian vocxon kaj observos Mian interligon, vi estos Mia amata proprajxo inter cxiuj popoloj, cxar al Mi apartenas la tuta tero.

⁵And now, if ye will hearken to my voice indeed and keep my covenant, then shall ye be my own possession out of all the peoples -- for all the earth is mine --

⁶Kaj vi estos por Mi regno de pastroj kaj popolo sankta. Tio estas la vortoj, kiujn vi diru al la Izraelidoj.

⁶and ye shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak to the children of Israel.

⁷Moseo venis, kaj alvokis la cxefojn de la popolo, kaj prezentis al ili cxiujn tiujn vortojn, pri kiuj la Eternulo ordonis al li.

⁷And Moses came and called the elders of the people, and laid before the mall these words which Jehovah had commanded him.

⁸Kaj la tuta popolo respondis kune kaj diris:CXion, kion la Eternulo diris, ni faros. Kaj Moseo raportis la vortojn de la popolo al la Eternulo.

⁸And all the people answered together, and said, All that Jehovah has spoken will we do! And Moses brought the words of the people back to Jehovah.

⁹Kaj la Eternulo diris al Moseo:Jen Mi venos al vi en densa nubo, por ke la popolo auxdu, kiam Mi parolos kun vi, kaj por ke ili kredu al vi eterne. Kaj Moseo sciigis la vortojn de la popolo al la Eternulo.

⁹And Jehovah said to Moses, Lo, I will come to thee in the cloud's thick darkness, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee also for ever. And Moses told the words of the people to Jehovah.

¹⁰Kaj la Eternulo diris al Moseo:Iru al la popolo kaj sanktigu gxin hodiaux kaj morgaux, kaj ili lavu siajn vestojn.

¹⁰And Jehovah said to Moses, Go to the people, and hallow them to-day and to-morrow, and let them wash their clothes;

¹¹Kaj ili estu pretaj por la tria tago, cxar en la tria tago la Eternulo malsupreniros antaux la okuloj de la tuta popolo sur la monton Sinaj.

¹¹and let them be ready for the third day; for on the third day Jehovah will come down before the eyes of all the people on mount Sinai.

¹²Kaj difinu limon por la popolo cxirkauxe, dirante:Gardu vin, ke vi ne supreniru sur la monton nek tusxu gxian bazon; cxiu, kiu tusxos la monton, estu mortigita.

¹²And set bounds round about the people, saying, Take heed to yourselves, [not] to go up unto the mountain nor touch the border of it: whatever toucheth the mountain shall certainly be put to death:

¹³Mano lin ne tusxu, sed per sxtonoj li estu mortigita, aux li estu pafmortigita; cxu tio estos bruto, cxu tio estos homo, li ne vivu. Kiam eksonos longa trumpetado, tiam ili povas supreniri sur la monton.

¹³not a hand shall touch it, but it shall certainly be stoned, or shot through; whether it be a beast or a man, it shall not live. When the long drawn note of the trumpet soundeth, they shall come up to the mountain.

¹⁴Kaj Moseo malsupreniris de la monto al la popolo kaj sanktigis la popolon, kaj ili lavis siajn vestojn.

¹⁴And Moses came down from the mountain to the people, and hallowed the people; and they washed their clothes.

¹⁵Kaj li diris al la popolo:Estu pretaj por la tria tago; ne alproksimigxu al virino.

¹⁵And he said to the people, Be ready for the third day; do not come near [your] wives.

¹⁶En la tria tago, tuj matene, komencigxis tondroj kaj fulmoj, kaj densa nubo estis super la monto, kaj auxdigxis tre forta sonado de korno; kaj ektremis la tuta popolo, kiu estis en la tendaro.

¹⁶And it came to pass on the third day, when it was morning, that there were thunders and lightnings and a heavy cloud on the mountain, and the sound of the trumpet exceeding loud; and the whole people that was in the camp trembled.

¹⁷Kaj Moseo elirigis la popolon el la tendaro renkonte al Dio, kaj ili starigxis antaux la bazo de la monto.

¹⁷And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the foot of the mountain.

¹⁸Kaj la monto Sinaj tuta fumigxis kauxze de tio, ke la Eternulo malsupreniris sur gxin en fajro; kaj gxia fumo levigxadis kiel fumo el forno, kaj la tuta monto forte tremis.

¹⁸And the whole of mount Sinai smoked, because Jehovah descended on it in fire; and its smoke ascended as the smoke of a furnace; and the whole mountain shook greatly.

¹⁹Kaj la sonado de la korno farigxadis cxiam pli kaj pli forta; Moseo paroladis, kaj Dio respondadis al li per vocxo.

¹⁹And the sound of the trumpet increased and became exceeding loud; Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.

²⁰Kaj la Eternulo malsupreniris sur la monton Sinaj, sur la supron de la monto; kaj la Eternulo vokis Moseon sur la supron de la monto, kaj Moseo supreniris.

²⁰And Jehovah came down on mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain; and Jehovah called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

²¹Kaj la Eternulo diris al Moseo:Iru malsupren, avertu la popolon, ke ili ne translimigxu perforte al la Eternulo, por vidi, cxar tiam multaj el ili falus.

²¹And Jehovah said to Moses, Go down, testify to the people that they break not through to Jehovah to gaze, and many of them perish.

²²Ecx la pastroj, kiuj alproksimigxos al la Eternulo, sanktigu sin, por ke la Eternulo ne frakasu ilin.

²²And the priests also, who come near to Jehovah, shall hallow themselves, lest Jehovah break forth on them.

²³Kaj Moseo diris al la Eternulo:La popolo ne povas supreniri sur la monton Sinaj, cxar Vi avertis nin, dirante:Faru limon cxirkaux la monto, kaj sanktigu gxin.

²³And Moses said to Jehovah, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai; for thou hast testified to us, saying, Set bounds about the mountain, and hallow it.

²⁴Sed la Eternulo diris al li:Iru malsupren, poste supreniru vi kaj Aaron kun vi; sed la pastroj kaj la popolo ne penu perforte supreniri al la Eternulo, por ke Li ne frakasu ilin.

²⁴And Jehovah said to him, Go, descend, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee; but the priests and the people shall not break through to go up to Jehovah, lest he break forth on them.

²⁵Kaj Moseo malsupreniris al la popolo kaj diris tion al ili.

²⁵So Moses went down to the people, and told them.
