1Kaj aperis al mi vorto de la Eternulo, dirante:
1And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
2Ho filo de homo! por kio tauxgas la ligno de vinberbrancxo inter cxiuj brancxoricxaj arboj, kiuj estas inter la arboj de arbaro?
2Son of man, what is the wood of the vine more than any wood, the vine-branch, which is among the trees of the forest?
3CXu oni prenas de gxi pecon, por ion fari el gxi? cxu oni faras el gxi almenaux hokon, por pendigi sur gxi ian objekton?
3Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will [men] take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?
4Jen gxi estas transdonata al la fajro por forbruligo; ambaux finojn formangxas la fajro, forbrulas ankaux la mezo; cxu gxi tauxgas por laboro?
4Behold, it is given to the fire for fuel: the fire consumeth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned; is it fit for [any] work?
5Jen, kiam gxi estis ankoraux nedifektita, oni ne povis ion fari el gxi; des pli kiam la fajro gxin difektis kaj bruligis, cxu oni povas ion fari el gxi?
5Behold, when it was whole, it was used for no work; how much less when the fire hath consumed it, and it is burned, should it yet be used for any work?
6Tial tiele diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo:Kiel la vinberarbon inter la arboj de la arbaro Mi transdonis al la fajro, ke gxi gxin forbruligu, tiel Mi agos kun la logxantoj de Jerusalem.
6Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: As the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7Mi direktos Mian vizagxon kontraux ilin; el fajro ili eliris, kaj fajro ilin ekstermos; kaj vi ekscios, ke Mi estas la Eternulo, kiam Mi direktos Mian vizagxon kontraux ilin.
7And I will set my face against them: they shall go forth from [one] fire, and [another] fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah when I set my face against them.
8Kaj Mi faros la landon dezerto pro tio, ke ili forte kulpigxis, diras la Sinjoro, la Eternulo.
8And I will make the land a desolation, because they have wrought unfaithfulness, saith the Lord Jehovah.
