¹And after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes, king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkijah,

²filo de SXalum, filo de Cadok, filo de Ahxitub,

²the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,

³filo de Amarja, filo de Azarja, filo de Merajot,

³the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,

⁴filo de Zerahxja, filo de Uzi, filo de Buki,

⁴the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,

⁵filo de Abisxua, filo de Pinehxas, filo de Eleazar, filo de Aaron, la cxefpastro.

⁵the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest,

⁶Tiu Ezra iris el Babel. Li estis lerta scienculo koncerne la instruon de Moseo, kiun donis la Eternulo, Dio de Izrael. Kaj la regxo donis al li cxion laux lia deziro, cxar la mano de la Eternulo, lia Dio, estis super li.

⁶-- this Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which Jehovah the God of Israel had given. And the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of Jehovah his God upon him.

⁷Ankaux kelkaj el la Izraelidoj, el la pastroj, el la Levidoj, el la kantistoj, el la pordegistoj, kaj el la Netinoj iris en Jerusalemon en la sepa jaro de la regxo Artahxsxast.

⁷(And there went up [some] of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the doorkeepers, and the Nethinim, to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.)

⁸Kaj li venis en Jerusalemon en la kvina monato, en la sepa jaro de la regxo.

⁸And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.

⁹CXar en la unua tago de la unua monato estis la komenco de la irado el Babel, kaj en la unua tago de la kvina monato li venis en Jerusalemon, cxar la mano de lia Dio favore estis super li.

⁹For upon the first of the first month the project of going up from Babylon was determined on, and on the first of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

¹⁰CXar Ezra pretigis sian koron, por studi la instruon de la Eternulo kaj plenumi gxin, kaj por instrui en Izrael legxojn kaj ordonojn.

¹⁰For Ezra had directed his heart to seek the law of Jehovah and to do it, and to teach in Israel the statutes and the ordinances.

¹¹Kaj jen estas la teksto de la letero, kiun la regxo Artahxsxast donis al Ezra, la pastro, la scienculo, kiu instruis la vortojn de la ordonoj de la Eternulo kaj Liajn legxojn pri Izrael:

¹¹And this is the copy of the letter that king Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commandments of Jehovah, and of his statutes to Israel:

¹²Artahxsxast, regxo de la regxoj, al Ezra, pastro, kaj scienculo pri la legxoj de Dio de la cxielo, pacon kaj saluton.

¹²Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, an accomplished scribe of the law of the God of the heavens, and so forth.

¹³De mi estas ordonite, ke en mia regno cxiu el la popolo de Izrael kaj el gxiaj pastroj kaj Levidoj, kiu volas iri en Jerusalemon, iru kun vi.

¹³I have given orders that all they of the people of Israel, and of their priests and the Levites, in my realm, who are disposed to go to Jerusalem, go with thee.

¹⁴CXar vi estas sendata de la regxo kaj de liaj sep konsilistoj, por pririgardi Judujon kaj Jerusalemon laux la en via mano trovigxanta legxo de via Dio,

¹⁴Because thou art sent by the king, and by his seven counsellors, to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thy hand;

¹⁵kaj por tien forporti la argxenton kaj oron, kiun la regxo kaj liaj konsilistoj oferis al Dio de Izrael, kies logxejo estas en Jerusalem,

¹⁵and to carry the silver and gold which the king and his counsellors have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose habitation is at Jerusalem,

¹⁶and all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, besides the voluntary offering of the people, and of the priests, who offer willingly for the house of their God which is at Jerusalem.

¹⁷Acxetu tuj pro tiu mono bovojn, sxafojn, kaj sxafidojn, kaj la al tio apartenantajn farunoferojn kaj versxoferojn, kaj alportu ilin sur la altaron de la domo de via Dio en Jerusalem.

¹⁷Therefore thou shalt buy diligently with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their oblations and their drink-offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is at Jerusalem.

¹⁸Kaj kion vi kaj viaj fratoj trovos bona fari el la cetera argxento kaj oro, tion laux la volo de via Dio faru.

¹⁸And whatever shall seem good to thee and to thy brethren to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do according to the will of your God.

¹⁹Kaj la vazojn, kiuj estas donitaj al vi por la servado en la domo de via Dio, prezentu antaux la Dio de Jerusalem.

¹⁹And the vessels that have been given thee for the service of the house of thy God, deliver before the God of Jerusalem.

²⁰Kaj cxion ceteran, kio estas necesa por la domo de via Dio, kion vi trovos bona doni, donu el la regxa trezorejo.

²⁰And whatever more shall be needful for the house of thy God which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house.

²¹Kaj de mi, Artahxsxast, la regxo, estas farata ordono al cxiuj trezorgardistoj trans la rivero, ke cxio, kion postulos de vi Ezra, la pastro, instruisto de la legxoj de Dio de la cxielo, estu tuj plenumata,

²¹And I, I Artaxerxes the king, do give orders to all the treasurers that are beyond the river, that whatever Ezra the priest and scribe of the law of the God of the heavens shall require of you, it be done diligently,

²²gxis jena kvanto:argxento gxis cent kikaroj, tritiko gxis cent kor�oj, vino gxis cent bat�oj, ankaux oleo gxis cent bat�oj, kaj salo en kvanto senlima.

²²unto a hundred talents of silver, and to a hundred measures of wheat, and to a hundred baths of wine, and to a hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing [how much].

²³CXio, kio estas ordonita de Dio de la cxielo, devas esti farata tuj por la domo de Dio de la cxielo, por ke Lia kolero ne trafu la regnon, la regxon, aux liajn infanojn.

²³Whatever is commanded by the God of the heavens, let it be carefully done for the house of the God of the heavens; for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

²⁴Kaj ni sciigas al vi, ke sur neniun el la pastroj, Levidoj, kantistoj, pordegistoj, Netinoj, aux servantoj cxe tiu domo de Dio vi devas meti tributon, imposton, aux depagojn.

²⁴Also we inform you, as regards all the priests and Levites, singers, doorkeepers, Nethinim, and ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose tribute, tax, and toll upon them.

²⁵Kaj vi, Ezra, laux la sagxo, kiun via Dio donis al vi, starigu registojn kaj jugxistojn, kiuj jugxadus la tutan popolon, kiu estas trans la rivero, cxiujn, kiuj scias la legxojn de via Dio; kaj kiu ne scias, tiun instruu.

²⁵And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, which is in thy hand, set magistrates and judges who may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye him that knows [them] not.

²⁶Kaj cxiu, kiu ne plenumos la legxojn de via Dio aux la legxojn de la regxo, tuj estu jugxe kondamnata, cxu al morto, cxu al elpelo, cxu al monpuno, cxu al meto en malliberejon.

²⁶And whosoever will not do the law of thy God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed diligently upon him, whether unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.

²⁷Benata estu la Eternulo, Dio de niaj patroj, kiu metis en la koron de la regxo la ideon beligi la domon de la Eternulo en Jerusalem,

²⁷Blessed be Jehovah the God of our fathers, who has put [such a thing] as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of Jehovah which is at Jerusalem;

²⁸kaj sur min turnis favoron de la regxo kaj de liaj konsilistoj kaj de cxiuj potencaj princoj de la regxo. Kaj mi ricevis kuragxon, cxar la mano de la Eternulo, mia Dio, estis super mi; kaj mi kolektis en Izrael cxefojn, por ke ili iru kun mi.

²⁸and has extended mercy to me before the king and his counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was strengthened, as the hand of Jehovah my God was upon me; and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.
