¹Tiele diris al mi la Eternulo:Iru, acxetu al vi tolan zonon kaj metu gxin sur viajn lumbojn, sed en akvon gxin ne metu.

¹Thus said Jehovah unto me: Go and buy thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins; but dip it not in water.

²Kaj mi acxetis la zonon konforme al la vorto de la Eternulo kaj metis gxin sur miajn lumbojn.

²And I bought a girdle according to the word of Jehovah, and put it upon my loins.

³Kaj duafoje aperis al mi la vorto de la Eternulo, dirante:

³And the word of Jehovah came unto me the second time, saying,

⁴Prenu la zonon, kiun vi acxetis, kiu estas sur viaj lumboj, levigxu kaj iru al Euxfrato, kaj kasxu gxin tie en fendo de roko.

⁴Take the girdle that thou hast bought, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.

⁵Kaj mi iris kaj kasxis gxin apud Euxfrato, kiel la Eternulo al mi ordonis.

⁵So I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as Jehovah had commanded me.

⁶Post longa tempo la Eternulo diris al mi:Levigxu, iru al Euxfrato, kaj prenu de tie la zonon, pri kiu Mi ordonis al vi, ke vi kasxu gxin tie.

⁶And it came to pass at the end of many days, that Jehovah said unto me, Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence which I commanded thee to hide there.

⁷Kaj mi iris al Euxfrato, elfosis kaj prenis la zonon el la loko, kie mi gxin kasxis; kaj jen montrigxis, ke la zono tute putrigxis kaj jam por nenio tauxgas.

⁷And I went to the Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it; and behold, the girdle was spoiled, it was good for nothing.

⁸And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

⁹Tiele diras la Eternulo:Tiele Mi putrigos la fieron de Jehuda kaj la grandan fieron de Jerusalem.

⁹Thus saith Jehovah: After this manner will I spoil the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

¹⁰Tiu malbona popolo, kiu ne volas obei Miajn vortojn, kiu sekvas la obstinecon de sia koro, kaj sekvas aliajn diojn, servante al ili kaj adorklinigxante al ili, farigxos kiel cxi tiu zono, kiu jam tauxgas por nenio.

¹⁰This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and go after other gods, to serve them and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle which is good for nothing.

¹¹Kiel zono estas alligata al la lumboj de homo, tiel Mi alligis al Mi la tutan domon de Izrael kaj la tutan domon de Jehuda, diras la Eternulo, por ke ili estu Mia popolo, Mia nomo, gloro, kaj ornamo; sed ili ne obeis.

¹¹For as a girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith Jehovah; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

¹²Kaj diru al ili cxi tion:Tiele diras la Eternulo, Dio de Izrael:CXiu vinkrucxo estos plenigata de vino. Ili diros al vi:CXu ni ne scias, ke cxiu vinkrucxo estos plenigata de vino?

¹²And thou shalt speak unto them this word: Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Every skin shall be filled with wine. And they will say unto thee, Do we not very well know that every skin shall be filled with wine?

¹³Sed vi diru al ili:Tiele diras la Eternulo:Jen Mi plenigos gxis ebrieco cxiujn logxantojn de cxi tiu lando, la regxojn, kiuj sidas sur la trono de David, la pastrojn, la profetojn, kaj cxiujn logxantojn de Jerusalem;

¹³And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, and the kings that sit for David upon his throne, and the priests and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.

¹⁴kaj Mi interfrapigos ilin reciproke, la patrojn kaj la filojn kune, diras la Eternulo, Mi ne kompatos, ne preterlasos, ne indulgos, ekstermante ilin.

¹⁴And I will dash them one against another, both the fathers and the sons together, saith Jehovah; I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy so as not to destroy them.

¹⁵Auxskultu kaj atentu; ne tenu vin alte, cxar la Eternulo parolas.

¹⁵Hear ye, and give ear, be not lifted up; for Jehovah hath spoken.

¹⁶Donu honoron al la Eternulo, via Dio, antaux ol Li venigos mallumon, kaj antaux ol viaj piedoj falpusxigxos sur la mallumaj montoj; tiam vi atendos lumon, sed Li donos anstataux gxi ombron de morto, densan nebulon.

¹⁶Give glory to Jehovah your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the mountains of twilight; and ye shall look for light, but he will turn it into the shadow of death, and make [it] gross darkness.

¹⁷Se vi ne auxskultos, tiam mia animo kasxe ploros pro via fiero, gxi ploros maldolcxe, kaj el miaj okuloj fluegos larmoj, cxar kaptita estos la pasxtataro de la Eternulo.

¹⁷And if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for [your] pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because Jehovah's flock is gone into captivity.

¹⁸Diru al la regxo kaj al la regxino:Sidigxu pli malalte, cxar la krono de via majesto defalis de via kapo.

¹⁸Say unto the king and to the queen: Humble yourselves, sit down low; for from your heads shall come down the crown of your magnificence.

¹⁹La sudaj urboj estas fermitaj, kaj neniu ilin malfermos; la tuta Judujo estas forkondukita en kaptitecon, gxi tuta estas forkondukita.

¹⁹The cities of the south are shut up, and there is none to open [them]; all Judah is carried away captive: it is wholly carried away captive.

²⁰Levu viajn okulojn, kaj rigardu tiujn, kiuj venas de nordo. Kie estas la pasxtataro, kiu estas komisiita al vi, via bela sxafaro?

²⁰Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north. Where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

²¹Kion vi diros, kiam Li punvizitos vin? vi lernigis ja ilin esti kontraux vi, esti cxefoj kaj ordonantoj. CXu ne atakos vin doloroj kiel naskantan virinon?

²¹What wilt thou say when he shall visit thee, since thou thyself hast trained them to be princes in chief over thee? Shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?

²²Eble vi diros en via koro:Pro kio trafis min cxi tio? Pro la multo de viaj malbonagoj estas levitaj la randoj de viaj vestoj kaj malhonoritaj viaj kalkanoj.

²²And if thou say in thy heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts uncovered, [and] thy heels have suffered violence.

²³CXu negro povas sxangxi sian hauxton aux leopardo siajn makulojn? tiel ankaux vi, cxu vi povas fari bonon, alkutimigxinte al malbono?

²³Can an Ethiopian change his skin, or a leopard his spots? [Then] may ye also do good, who are accustomed to do evil.

²⁴Tial Mi disblovos ilin kiel pajlopecetojn, kiujn dispelas la vento el la dezerto.

²⁴And I will scatter them as stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness.

²⁵Tio estos via sorto, via parto, destinita de Mi, diras la Eternulo, pro tio, ke vi forgesis Min kaj fidis malverajxon.

²⁵This shall be thy lot, thy measured portion from me, saith Jehovah; because thou hast forgotten me, and confided in falsehood.

²⁶Kaj Mi levos la randojn de viaj vestoj gxis via vizagxo, kaj montrigxos via hontindajxo,

²⁶Therefore will I also turn thy skirts over thy face, and thy shame shall be seen.

²⁷via adulto, via voluptegeco, viaj malcxastaj pensoj. Sur la montetoj de la kampo Mi vidis viajn abomenindajxojn. Ve al vi, ho Jerusalem! cxu vi ne purigxos? kiam do fine?

²⁷Thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy fornication, on the hills, in the fields, -- thine abominations, have I seen. Woe unto thee, Jerusalem! Wilt thou not be made clean? after how long a time yet?
